  1. ....just use a big sock?
  2. Well, since the Spitfire isn't a choice I'll settle for the F-14 It has the magnificence and the lines of a bird of prey, sleek and imposing, elegant and menacing, all at the same time
  3. Done it with basic USB peripherals active, including my NZXT AIO
  4. I found these too late to incorporate in my own button box, so never acquired one But even then, these switches may work great for the F14 HSD modes, but not for much else and since I kept my HSD box more generic, so I could use it in other modules, probably would have not used it anyway
  5. You could use these piano/hood switches as well then at least you have the on/off mechanical switching of the F-14 buttons https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004163624382.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller.12.6d47fdxifdxiDD&gps-id=pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.40050.354490.0&scm_id=1007.40050.354490.0&scm-url=1007.40050.354490.0&pvid=ce68cfd6-dee0-48c6-abdd-356f8918b5b6&_t=gps-id:pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller,scm-url:1007.40050.354490.0,pvid:ce68cfd6-dee0-48c6-abdd-356f8918b5b6,tpp_buckets:668%232846%238115%232000&pdp_npi=4%40dis!EUR!5.27!5.00!!!5.51!5.23!%402103854617139676918186087ee84c!12000028242615851!rec!NL!2084566286!&utparam-url=scene%3ApcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller|query_from%3A
  6. If you're going Winwing The Orion2 18 would suffice F14 and 18 almost perfectly, but the F15EX gives you a bit more options for other planes The F16 throttle isn't much of an option for dual engine planes, whereas Orion2 could probably stand in for an F16 throttle (it's also a little more expensive than the F15EX) For the stick I'd suggest the 16EX stick for more controls for the F16, again, it can stand in for other planes (It's also a little cheaper than the 18 stick)
  7. Are you guys using powered hubs?
  8. is it on USB Forcefeel setting? And maybe redundant, but did you set the red knob to full? Should not be needed, it's got it's own power supply (it actually even keeps my hub's channel light illuminated when the channel is switched off)
  9. Like I said: "VR is an experience on another level" even at lower fidelity
  10. Current best bang for buck IMO is WinWing, not saying that stuff is cheap, but it gives all the high end features at a lower price (except twist axis, but that's an option on high end as well I advise saving up for rudder pedals regardless) Stalwart is Thrustmaster, 1000's of players have used these things for years, though it's proven tech is getting a bit long in the tooth (and the new stuff is quite pricey) PS: this is in the wrong section, it'll probably be moved to the lower branch "PC Hardware and Related Software - Input Devices"
  11. What you are using is somewhat scraping the bottom of the barrel, VR asks for quite a bit more than 2d users need to get the same effect With my setup I get a bit more than half the FPS in VR (and not nearly as consistent), as I do in 2d at the same low/moderate graphic settings and I could boost the detail in 2d quite a bit, while keeping decent FPS, not so for VR BUT, VR is an experience on another level and the only time I would fly without is when I'm setting up controls, so if your system doesn't cut it, I'd still be a proponent of putting cash into more horsepower, rather than giving it up
  12. 3 years was a long time in those days I guess for some (myself included) from the MPS days, DCS is indeed like coming home
  13. I suggest getting the HUD-1 unit with the UFC, adds a few more pots to the buttons and switches I even use it for something as simple with my spitfire to set the gunsight and compasses/compassus (Compi? ), in the Mozzy, with lots of extra controls on the dash, it's also a big plus
  14. Damn, I'm so old, I figured you meant F15 Strike Eagle II
  15. Looks like these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33035513753.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.1.3ff11c9f7pFmBN&algo_pvid=8fffef08-3725-4ccc-adf9-438a6a3554c2&algo_exp_id=8fffef08-3725-4ccc-adf9-438a6a3554c2-0&pdp_npi=4%40dis!EUR!4.88!4.88!!!5.12!5.12!%40211b612817120905532853656e85ae!67325009514!sea!NL!2084566286!&curPageLogUid=h33FK8343wN6&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch|query_from%3A
  16. And here I was thinking I simply had bad luck 100% of the time
  17. I've seen videos of little kids shredding on adult guitars far better than I can achieve, small ladies climbing on full size Adventure and MX bikes and ride beyond my capabilities, people making the tiniest origami creations And there seem to be quite a few DCS players with actual handicaps to their extremities that can fly much better than I can Which leads me to conclude that I really don't think a flight stick being a bit larger (or smaller) than the average hand is such an insurmountable issue
  18. That doesn't look like small hands Mine: Width 105mm Length 180mm Length of index finger 75mm Maximum stretch between thumb and pinky 200mm / Thumb and index 150mm / Index and pinky 165mm (Left hand has more stretch, since I played guitar for quite a few years) Got the Virpil CM1, and it being a long stick, I have to reach somewhat for pinky- and upper switches, but nothing where the size of my hand is in any way a handicap
  19. I'm running a lower GPU but higher system specs than you (see sig) But at least you might be able to disqualify the GPU from your troubles NVidia CP Try Power settings "Performance" Texture Filter quality "High speed" Thread optimalisation "On" OpenXR, can't recall exactly. but I believe my custom foveation starts at 80%, and NIS size at 125%, turbo on so no Reprojection These are my DCS settings, and I'm running 25 fps on a very bad day/server, but mostly 35-45+ (I capped DCS at 45fps in OpenXR, but it could max at 65 ingame, just not consistent) DCS Pixel Density is set to 1.5 btw
  20. It's actually logical, since the base would require no different software if it were to handle all the same grips
  21. An M4 Sherman can be a viable tank today, in the right circumstances
  22. I wonder how things perform if one would assign (a) specific core(s)s to the VR engine as well
  23. I'm somewhat underwhelmed Even at the lowest setting, I consider the damping somewhat excessive Not that I expected zero, but my Bike has less resistance ...and thats with the added friction of a tire on the ground And to keep and find center, I had to install both springs I'll see if it improves over time/higher temperatures
  24. But this is about "Toggle On/Off" Where the same physical button sets the ingame switch to either on or off Allowing momentary physical buttons t be used on latched functions For the F-14, the 'Toggle ACM/Jettison cover On/Off' command does work
  25. "...you should have seen the other guy!!" BTW, if any of you guys happen to spot some purple headed chicken in the waters off the coast of Syria, keeping some floating Mig 21 and its pilot company Tell him he's swimming home to the US, because the only way he'll be aboard my Cat, is strapped outside to an AIM-54C (on fumes, bucking like a drunk turkey. Don't ask me how I got it home, but I somehow managed)
