I would love that! Even with a barely functional AI RIO
-
Really? According to multiple articles if you get it now for free you keep it. An example of one. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/133929-Red-Orchestra-2-Free-on-Steam-to-Keep-Forever-Update I won't be able to test that since I bought it forever ago.

No problem man. Figured I would share the news. I mean, who doesn't like free stuff?

Deal is over now. Sorry!

Well let me know if you get a set up for $300 or less like the OR and I will be first in line, well depending on how CastAR turns out. It is a dream of mine to have a dome cockpit but still $300 for the OR is pretty promising. And if Cast AR actually turns out pretty well have a 1:1 pit plus dome could be a possibility without the thousands of dollars on the screens and the whole calibration thing.

Serial: 25358 Just got it today From Amazon (through TheFactory Direct) Washington State, USA Couldn't wait on a Hornet HOTAS any longer :)

Full Motion Cockpit at your local IMAX
Scoggs replied to Krupi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah, since you can't see anything outside of the Rift I think this would be cool if translated the forces in the sim to the platform so it wouldn't be 1:1. I would so by this if I had several thousand dollars lying around. -

That plus a good res rift would be the ultimate puke everywhere simulator! I want. -
Oh man I wish I had a set up like yours. I play at a desk and my stick is situated almost like a side stick except at abdomen height. Might look to invest into something like yours when CV1 releases. Mainly waiting for the Hornet and hopefully a TM Hornet stick and throttle. Running a T.Flight hotas currently... With all the buttons on the throttle serving as modifiers.

My quoting works :) About camera on rift - yeah I didnt thinknof that. Maybe a fade in opacity like system? User configured of course. I just think it is going to be hard to find the stick or throttle again if you take your hands off them for whatever reason. About cast Ar - at least from the demo videos it looks promising. Probably a few years out until we see something worthwhile. But it is in 3D so it would be nice, espcially if you ate building a full pit (which is my dream). However I think there will be issues i.e. Brightness, hud and many more I am overlooking. I don't really want to rebalance my left eye dominance lol. Considering that I am left handed as well. I do think it should be an ingame or Rift software(if it speaks to the game) option.

But nowish would be the best time for pitbuilding. You know with cast Ar in the works. Dome pit are now feasible. As for switches I think they should add using the cursor as it is now but with a sticky function. Think I saw that in BMS. I hope they make it so the cursor is parallaxed(not sure of the word I want to use here) for the dominant eye, mainly for people like me who are left eye dominant. I only think this would be a problem because of the 3D. Or even Kinect for windows plus haptic feedback gloves? You can use the kinect for spatial orientation of your arms. Also think that they should add a camera on the front so you can push a button on the rift and what is actually in fron of you be visible for a use defined amount of time. Would make finding where the joystick and throttle are... And so I can raise my gear ;)

1.2.8 Open Beta Preliminary Change Log
Scoggs replied to upupandaway's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Awesome, thanks Matt & the ED Team! Now I just need to by a new TrackIr clip... -
I like the sound of what he is saying, thanks for posting. While some of it may be damage control. I really think Facebook is going to take a hands off approach to this acquisition. Edit: just saw that there is initial Rift support in 1.2.8! Sounds good to me... Even though I don't own a dev kit.

I think most of the privacy issues on Facebook are user generated(i.e. The user posted it) I guess that could still be a concern. I don't think they will monetize the Rift via ads though. They are selling hardware instead of a a "free" service like they normally do. So I don't think ads will be part of the gaming experience. Possibly they might add ads into the software if they have something like the TrackIR experience. At the same time I have no idea what their true long term goals are. I think it will be a wait and see type of thing.

I completely agree with you. I think it can only bring good things. They wouldn't spend $2 BILLION on something they just want to mess with. I think they wanted to acquire it to rake in the money and in doing so will do everything in their power to make it a very profitable device(Or series of devices) to make back what they spent. I have a feeling they will be pretty hands off for a while. As for the people who are talking ads... does that really make sense? I mean come on, use some common sense. I also think Facebook is trying to diversify because they understand that they will not be around forever in their current form(think of it as the myspace of today). They have the capital currently, so why not spend it on something that could benefit them in the future? Lets not be like the rest of the internet and jump to conclusions with knee jerk reactions. Personally I will hold judgment until they release the Rift. Until then business as usual.

Not sure what the problem is... Or am I missing something.

Yeah, my mistake... I misunderstood what a friend was telling me. Will edit my post. Thanks Skate Oh and saw this in my twitter feed from Dslyecxi. Not entirely sure how accurate it is and/or if it has been posted before http://vr.mkeblx.net/oculus-sim/. Its a simulation oh how it looks through the Rift. Mainly to show screen door effect and blur. From what I hear the motion blur is a little over exaggerated but the screen door is pretty accurate.

Yeah I think a lot of people think it will have to render 1080p(Dk2) or 1440p(hopefully CV1) for each eye when in reality it is rendering half that per eye. That being said, on the current engine I get 50-60 depending on what is going on(with 1 viewpoint @1440p)... Well I do get lower when looking through the TGP at towns with AI in them. I wonder if low persistence will help with the lower framerate or at least the stuttering. Edit: Oh and rift doesn't do 3d like a 3d monitor where it needs the high fps to alternate the images. But from what I am hearing you need it for less motion sickness. One day (long time I know) I think it would be cool to see DCS in 8k/eye @240hz :)

This is why I love these forums. Not only do people show intrest but will willingly give out help to people in need. I wish I could help but I know nothing of the sort other than it looks really pretty!

Interactive Introduction to A-10C Training
Scoggs replied to AFAlinebacker42's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I would love to join for a Emergency Procedure session if you guys end up doing one. Could you shoot me a PM if you do please? -
Something that really immersed me in Arma 2 multiplayer was Warfare BE. I think something like that wiuld be cool. I would like to see massive combined arms fighting across the whole map. Give 1 player on each side a commander role which would play kinda like an RTS. EDIT: pretty much what winchester described. Just want to work with real people on the ground too. Like if ARMA 2/3(w/ ace ) became a module to DCS. I would also like to see the tutorial missions expanded and moved into multiplayer. I like the idea of doing training similar to real life with friends.

Thanks, just saw that in an article. They also mentioned the consumer version already has a prototype and is vastly better than the DK2. May wait for the final. Really can't wait for this though!
