  1. And here you are begging again. Every thread, you just beg. Beg beg beg! Is it the cost, or are you just never gonna get another TM stick because of the Cougar? Do keep in mind we are talking WH here, NOT Cougar. Dude, your wife has a gun. She CAN get you a Hog if you really want one. You should ask her.
  2. Why is it that the biggest detractors of the WH don't even own one? Threads like these just seem to attract them like flies. As was said, the WH is the absolute best out-of-the-box HOTAS on the market right now. And yes, I did have a G940 and I sent it back.
  3. Did he just do what I think he did?
  4. No, the TM MFD's are pretty sturdy and don't flex like that. I use two strips of velcro per MFD, one on the side, and one on the bottom. If I really lean on the inner buttons, I can get it to hit the screen but I have to try to do it. I would just put something soft under the corner of the MFD if I was worried about it. Not necessary.
  5. I'm pretty sure I still have a Suncom F15 stick somewhere in the basement. It's probably in good shape too.
  6. Severum, it sounds like your system is pretty vanilla and your PSU should be able to handle the additional load of a GTX480 but the big ? is going to be the quality of your existing PSU. Some cheaper units fudge the numbers quite a bit and don't put out what they claim. The GTX480 can draw 300 watts alone but if you had a quality 550w PSU, plus you are not overclocking and you don't sound like you have a loaded system (many drives, fans, lights, etc.) you would be just fine. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places but everything I see says that the 8800GTX and GTX480 draw about the same amount of power under load. Someone please correct me here. If this is the case, I'd think you would be OK without a PSU upgrade.
  7. The velcro never touches the screen. It's only on the bezel.
  8. You WANT a new PSU if you upgrade to the new GFX cards. I would not even attempt to install a 570 in a systems with a 550 PSU. Best case, it just politely shuts down when you try to run a game. Worst case, the PSU dies a horrible death, taking out your mobo, vid card, and anything else it can whilst going through its death sequence. That majic white smoke is not something you want to see.
  9. The only money I spend on my hobbies is money that I can afford to spend on my hobbies. You'd swear that some folks are feeding their family bread and water because they HAD to buy the WH when it first became available. We are buying a version 1.0 product. Risks? Sure! Worth it? Im my case, yes! Is it perfect? No! I do feel for anyone that got a shiny new WH and have it die a few days later, but that is a risk, unfortunately inherent with being the first kid on the block to have a newly introduced gadget. Also, do realize that this is a new product and in a short period of time, it appears many were sold, and though we are seeing failures, TM does seem to be taking care of those folks. And in the big picture view, the failures do not seem to be the norm. Most are not having hardware issues witht the WH. The Logitech G940 has been out for what, almost two years now and just last week they have finally, though only partially, addressed a long-standing issue with that unit. I had a G940 and sent it back for refund before my 30 days were up. I would have loved to have a great FFB HOTAS, but I'd rather have a great HOTAS that works the way it's supposed to. The WH does work the way it's supposed to but that does not mean it is perfect either. Most are not having issues. Most, me included, think the WH is worth every penny. I doubt if I'd change my tune if mine broke since I have not seen one case where TM has not backed their product, and again, it is a great HOTAS. edit: I must add that Logitech support for me has been nothing short of excellent. I have many Logitech products and whenever I had an issue, they were prompt, and in some cases, just plain awesome in their remedy. I just knew that the issues I had with the G940 were not issues I thought could be easily resolved, and that's why I returned it.
  10. Yes, the Hog stick is on R&R. I use the Cougar U2/Nxt because I like it better. Even if I do decide to get new rudders (Simped or Saitek), I will still be using the Cougar stick, but the Hog throttle stays!
  11. In the pictures you should be able to see where I put two screws in the desk behind the main monitor to keep the main monitor from sliding backward, and for the lower monitor, those two black posts that keep it from sliding towards me are also screws but I taped them so they would not scratch the monitor bezel. I attached the MFD's to the lower monitor by using two small strips of velcro. The lower monitor slides back put pretty easily though I have since tied all the cables into a bundle, so it is a little bit of work getting it out of there, but I don't plan on moving it anytime soon. This desk has got to be at least 25 years old and it's got holes all over it from different configurations over the years.
  12. Static electricity is one thing, but actual AC current flowing is a totally different problem and current flow is what you will get when two grounds are not equal. The difference can be enough to fry things, start a fire and in some cases, kill you. The OP mentions the Hog in this case, but the Hog had absolutely nothing to do with anything other than being the victim of a PC that isn't grounded. As soon as you plug the Hog into the PC, the Hog is grounded as long as the PC is already grounded. The only warning to take from this thread is one that applies to any device you plug into a wall socket. Make sure things are properly grounded, and on the same ground!
  13. That really sounds like a situation that could be more dangerous to human life than just the peripherals connected to the computer. If the difference of potential between earth ground and the casing on the PC is enough to fry components, then I'd also be very worried about a fire.
  14. We forgive you - Dickhead! :megalol: :D :megalol:
  15. Self calibrating, I suppose. Kind of like FFB steering wheels, only you have to move them?
  16. Agreed. Be a nice guy but still get paid for your time, trouble, work and effort. Also know that you are appreciated for stepping up for us. Salute!
  17. Exactly. Nothing significant about the number other than it is the same for anyone above 10 years old and less than 100 years old. I think it's cool! :D
  18. I am so tempted! Everything I hear on these is the same and I am so worried that I am going to break the spring in my RCS the next time I try a hard left rudder. I've had these since they first came out and am only on my second spring but this spring isn't quite as strong as the original and because I added some washers to it to smooth out the action some, they don't have a hard stop when applying full left deflection. I'm afraid that one day I will get carried away and push it too far. Hasn't happened in the 10 years I've had this spring in them, but... Really, I'm just trying to justify some shiny new rudders :-)
  19. Hmm, well since you find me so entertaining, do this. Add up the age you will be in 2011 to the last two digits you were born. In my case, I was born in 61 and will be 50 this year. 61+50=111. Now try it with your family and friends (if you have any) and check it out! Cool huh? :megalol:
  20. The Warthog is not programmable. It is TARGET that takes DX output from the WH and translates that output to keystrokes. You might be thinking of the Cougar. The Cougar is programmable. It actually stores your profile within the stick itself. There is no profile storing with the WH. TARGET stores your profile in a script file on your PC with the WH.
  21. You imply that the Chinese do bad work because of work and living conditions but I would argue a hungry Chinese man will do 3x the work you and I do and probably 3x better because if he doesn't, he don't eat. It's not like they have a labor shortage over there. I don't think Chinese factories are filled with a bunch of fat lazy Chinamen. I also don't think you can blame the average Chinese laborer for lack of quality control. That is a much broader issue that does need attention and addressing but to blame it on the common laborer is probably misguided. Anyway, this thread has gone from bashing TM to now bashing China and TM. MasterBashers unite!
  22. Where am I being personal? And why would someone with so many negative things to say about TM and the Hog even consider getting one? You don't have to answer if your answer will make you look any more silly. :smilewink:
  23. The WH consists of a USB throttle and a USB stick that function as normal DX input devices. The TARGET software will combine them into a single controller from a software perspective but I don't know if TARGET will also integrate/combine a non-TM peripheral as a single unit and if it won't, you'll need to make sure your sim can use input from multiple/separate controllers. I don't use TARGET and I have no problems using my Hog throttle along with TM Cougar stick and TM RCS peddles.
  24. Seems like you could just remove the white ring instead of drill it. I know I won't be drilling mine but if I get motivated, I may try removing it. I do agree that some of the sticktion is due to that whole assembly sliding up and down those 4 posts though.
