  1. I just write that off as being similar to what happens quite often in my line of work. There are always going to be people who tend toward over-thinking a problem. Hours are spent researching and discussing a squawk before the plane even shows up. Then the plane shows up and it turns out the pilot just had a switch in the wrong position.:lol: I do wish they'd stop messing with the defaultvrsettings file, which they seem to do now with every update. But, its almost expected now, so most of the time I remember to fix it to get motion reprojection turned back on.
  2. Yup. I ended up discovering by accident that I didn't have to do the WMR dance. All I had to do was put on the HMD, wait for WMR to recognize it, then start DCS. It doesn't get much easier than that. :D My pre-order is in! :pilotfly:
  3. The better controllers, mechanical IPD adjustment, and home-run cable that is now 6 meters long are enough to get my interest. Those 3 items, IMHO, are the main things holding the G1 back from being a really great HMD. I just put in my pre-order (Thanks Patersonski! That link works!), so now I'll just have to see if I actually get notified when it becomes available. That didn't happen for the G1, but luckily this forum seems to be more on top of things than HP does in that regard.
  4. Yup. Works every time for me too. Although I recently had issues with SteamVR not closing. Just had to uninstall/reinstall the whole Steam application and everything is back to working flawlessly again.
  5. Its two displays, and a Reverb isn't a Rift, so recommendations and disclaimers for a Rift don't apply to the headset speed-of-heat was talking about. I also have a Reverb, my IPD is 70mm, and the Reverb works just fine for me. So, it may not be a physically-adjustable headset, but it works quite well for people with wider-than-average IPD, which appears to be the main concern of the OP. No physical IPD adjustment, but anything currently offered with that feature is going to be a step down in resolution.
  6. He has a Reverb, not a Rift. :)
  7. The last time I had a similar issue, Windows was stuck in some kind of weird update cycle that went on for days. Have you looked at Windows Update to see if its in the middle of downloading/installing something?
  8. Have a look at this post of mine from a while back. It will let you adjust everything for your view in VR to your liking, and when you use the save command (at the end of the list), it will save that exact position as your VR center position for the aircraft you're in. From that point on, every time you start the game in that aircraft, the default view will be exactly as you like it. You can do the same thing for each of the other aircraft modules you own and they'll all be set exactly how you want them. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3830595&postcount=2
  9. $500.00 doesn't give you a whole lot of headroom to work with, but I agree with the suggestions Taz made. Those two things will give you the most noticeable performance boost in VR, especially the GPU upgrade. Upgrading cooling, just so you can overclock, isn't the best bang for the buck, IMHO. You'd be spending money on something that doesn't help your storage/access time problems, and yields a pretty negligible performance increase compared to an SSD and GPU upgrade.
  10. I know its too early in the game to be asking this question, but: Maybe our current A-10C and A-10C 2.0 can be separate modules, with the former just not being supported and upgraded further? Sort of like how we still have all of the FC3 aircraft available? I'd be down with that. Maybe that's the intention, but I don't see that clearly defined anywhere.
  11. Same here. Happy enough in the subjects here that I like, that I don't feel the need to go places I don't like. VR is the only way for me. :D
  12. Its a synchronization issue between the video camera refresh rate and the refresh rate of the displays. You can also see this kind of effect in video of aircraft with propellers or rotors. Sometimes they appear to rotate one direction, then the other, and sometimes appear to stop altogether. Its all an electronically-induced optical illusion.
  13. There really isn't even that much 4K content on BluRay either, and it only gives you a visual difference if you have a really big TV, or if you sit within a couple of feet of a "medium-sized" (43-49 inches) TV. I did notice a difference between 1080p and 2160p on my rig when I got the 49" QLED 4K TV, but the new TV had HDR and all kinds of other new display technology the old one didn't have, so I'm not sure how much of the new "wow factor" is coming from the increase in resolution. The Reverb is leaps and bounds better than my CV1 in a lot of ways, but I still find myself wishing for better controllers, mechanical IPD adjustment, and more flexibility with extending cable length. Also, I wish they had gone for a home run on the cable, instead of that stupid DP connector on the back of the HMD. That's probably a major contributor to its lack of flexibility when it comes to cable length. Even the active DP 1.4 repeater that is known to work on other HMDs doesn't work on the Reverb. Hopefully the G2 will address all those issues, because the display resolution still makes the Reverb worth dealing with its other shortcomings.
  14. The difference there is that you know what you're looking at, so its not the same as a double-blind study. The subjects in the study weren't told the resolutions or refresh rates. :D
  15. Early adopter here too, and not a single issue with my RTX2080ti that wasn't caused by me not having things plugged in correctly.
  16. Any chance you could post a track file the next time you have this happen?
  17. I've had decent results with these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074V7MV1R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 But, it looks like they're out of them now at Amazon. You might be able to find them at another vendor. Keep in mind though that others have tried these recently and found them to not be compatible with glasses. YMMV The set I got gave me a little more eye relief than the factory HP Pro pad, so it mostly eliminated the problem of being able to see the lens edges. The foam weather stripping I started off with completely eliminated the lens edge problem, but time and heat causes the adhesive to start migrating and it becomes kind of a clunky solution. The VR Cover Vive pads have been a good compromise for me, but again, not everybody has been pleased with the result.
  18. I always shut down the CICU before requesting a rearm/reload, then do the DTS Upload after I'm reloaded/refueled and the CICU is all powered back up.
  19. I have tried it on a 49" QLED, and its still not the same as VR. Gorgeous visuals, but its flat, and there's no sense of scale and no depth perception. I have the HP Reverb and it gave me a significant boost in not only image quality over my CV1, but in performance as well.
  20. If you have your course pointer set for the heading of the desired runway, when you're on course with a centered needle, that will help you line up on the runway center-line before you're able to actually see it. Also, if your course needle is more than 90 degrees off to one side or the other, your glideslope needle won't show.
  21. I'm really enjoying it too, although I have to limit my time on it to less than an hour. Still getting used to how disturbingly real and creepy it is, so it still freaks me out a little bit. Even on the old CV1 its quite impressive.
  22. Not sure if you're describing what I think you're describing, but the recent series of updates for SteamVR have been turning motion reprojection off.
  23. With a higher resolution headset, you can run lower super-sampling. Super-sampling is the big performance killer. But, for Alyx, I've found the WMR controllers with the Reverb to be pretty clunky. I actually go back to my old CV1 when playing Alyx, just because the Oculus Touch controllers are so much better. I guess everything has its pros and cons.
  24. Loss of AC or DC power causes the hydraulic system to extend the slats for fail-safe operation. When the engines are shut down, they may or may not extend as well.
  25. The problem you're having could also be related to your Rift not getting enough USB power. Where do you have your Rift's USB cable plugged in?
