  1. Two questions... 1. What is Starforce? 2. Is this required for all MiG-21 users or just users of this "Star Force" thing?

    GPS?

It was mentioned in March 2016. "In parallel with DCS World 2.5, we continue to make progress on the DCS: Strait of Hormuz map, DCS: Normandy map, DCS: F/A-18C Hornet, DCS: Spitfire IX, the option to add a Garmin GNS 430 navigation device that can be installed on various aircraft."
  3. No sir. That is a new one to me. I'll have a look at that now, thanks. Edit: That got it. Thank you sir.
  4. I bought the Limited Edition version of the Viggen from the Heatblur website and received my key. After updating DCS World Open Beta to version 1.5.6 I am able to install all modules except the Viggen. I am only getting the "Buy" option which takes me to the Eagle Dynamics E-Shop/Modules web page with the option to buy. What is the work around for this so I can install and activate the Viggen? Thanks for any info.
  5. Left CRTL+Y will cycle through the options.
  6. The F4U will definitely be one of the best modules for DCS.
  7. Is there a graph or list somewhere that shows the color results to color changes in the specular layer? It seems it's just a guess otherwise.... A green layer seems to result in black textures, a pink layer seems to result in a metal texture. What color does the specular layer need to be to get white textures? Or red, blue, yellow etc?
  8. I am liking the bare metal...
  9. Yes sir, So I am working on two different skins but am getting the same results for both. One of my skins is the "Bare Metal". I am working with the "DIF" .dds files only to get the aluminum look that I like and have not touched any of the "Spec" files. The issue is that anything that has color is now black. (Prop, rims, antennas etc) I am doing the standard of taking the .dds files from the liveries folder and placing the files into DXTBMP and saving it as a BMP file, placing that file into Photoshop to edit, then saving that file as a bmp and placing it back into DXTBMP to save it as a DDS file. The contents of the "Bare metal" folder is this. And the description.lua looks like this. My goal is to leave the aluminum look as I have it in the above picture but I want to have the skin layers that I add on top of it to show in their proper colors.
  10. This kills the Aluminum look.
  11. Here is an example of what I am seeing. The stock .dds file looks like this. And the Specular file looks like this This is what I am seeing. Any suggestions how to correct this? Thanks.
  12. I am REALLY hoping for that realistic startup and sound of the 2,000 hp 18-cylinder Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial.
  13. I have a friend that is an Apache instructor pilot currently instructing in the E version. If we ever get an Apache for DCS he said he would join the forum here.
  14. I'm having an issue with a skin and I'm pretty sure it's because of the specular layer not being correct but I am new to this and not too sure so I ask for your help. The light colors of my skin don't show. (White parts of my invasion stripes, the Air Force logo and the yellow tip's on my prop). Is there a fix for this for these missing items? If I change the shade of the specular layer lighter or darker will it change the overall look of the aluminum? Thank you for any info.
  15. That's too bad. I have sent messages to them here, on their FB page and I have started threads asking questions but they have all gone unanswered. Big change from last year when we got replies and updates.
  16. Having a look externally, here is the nozzle position when the 2psn switch is off (down position) And here is the nozzle position when the 2psn switch is on (Up position)
  17. I have my doubts Leatherneck uses "Joke information" for the flight manual...
  18. Normal start vs Cold start I don't believe the cold start option is modeled at this time.
  19. Found on page 61 of the flight manual.
  20. Every aircraft needs a checklist to ensure safe and proper operations. One of my hobbies is making detailed checklist for DCS aircraft to help me to better understand all of the systems and force me to read the flight manual for the information. Now we have one for the MiG-21 and I have decided to release it into the world. Although the MiG-21 can be started and be tearing down the runway in a matter of minutes, common sense tells us that this is the case for an aircraft that has been setup for a scramble launch and already has most switches and systems in place for a fast launch. This is a full checklist so it is not intended to be fast. For those of us who enjoy doing cold starts and learning the systems, this checklist may be for you. :book: This is a detailed nine page operating checklist for the MiG-21 kneeboard and includes 210 checklist items including checklist sections for Engine and System startup, Weapons, Taxi, hold short position, Line-up, Takeoff, Rotate, Climb-out, Approach, Landing & Shutdown. (Also includes warnings, cautions & notes) Download here. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2319241/ To install: JSGME Ready or, Unzip the folder and place all files here for version 1.5: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\MiG-21BIS\Cockpit\KNEEBOARD\indicator\CONTENT Unzip the folder and place all files here for version 2.0: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Cockpit\KNEEBOARD\indicator\CONTENT Unzip the folder and place all files here for version 2.5: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Cockpit\KNEEBOARD\indicator\CONTENT I am open to changes being that this is my first release of this checklist so if you see a mistake or would like me to add to this please let me know. I have been going through this checklist and making changes for months now. After 60 document changes and 12 versions I think it is ready. :D Hopefully you find this enjoyable. 21. Thanks Zaelu. Good info. The intercom mode with the radio switch off must be the primary way to communicate with ground otherwise everyone on the same ATC channel as you including tower would hear the conversation you are having with ground. Plus the MiG-21 is loud. Doubtful the crew would be talking to each other over the engine without an intercomm.
