High fidelity or "standard fidelity" aside, it's still just a sim. The simplified flight models of Flaming Cliffs are way better than most flight models in other simulators, so it's not all black or white. There's a fair amount of tweaking that can be done, but even out of the box most ED models behave quite nicely even if they don't have all the bells and whistles of DCS. Regardless of flight model, to make the cut for any serious aerobatic team you'll need three things multiplied and squared: Some inherent talent, dedication and practice... lots of it! There's a saying: "Repetition is the father of learning, so rinse and repeat. Get some instruction and do the thing you want to get better at an annoying amount of times."

Already answered in your other thread.

Can you run Windows without a mouse or touchpad? Yes. Is it fulfilling? No. Same applies here.

Not arguing your point... however, my Li-Ion battery pack comes with a simple USB charger cord (no charger per se, just plug it in and charge the unit). However, the TIR uses hardly any juice whatsoever to power the LEDs. I've no kidding charged the Li-Ion pack powering the TIR clip only ONCE in the last 6 months!!!

Nice job! That Avenger looks awesome.
-
LMAO! That made my day. :megalol:

They make even smaller (lighter) Li-Ion battery packs now that you can clip/tape onto your headset to have "wireless TIR". ;)

To get people interested... and possibly joining... and God forbid, someone could even sell pits and make a profit (just look at all the crap 3rd party devs put out for FSX that costs more than the sim itself). Just saying. ;) Nice work on the cockpit Crow! :)

Original posts is asking for $400. I could be wrong, but I don't think these are PC ready?

Which MoBo's are bricking the Warthog HOTAS?
LawnDart replied to Slothface's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
X58 here, no probs. I think it's got more to do with the firmware verison of the unit than trying to avoid certain mobos. Be sure to update your firmware to the latest and you should be set (I've heard very few "bricking" issues with later versions). -
Request for Random Information - A-10 Joystick
LawnDart replied to Dodgeza's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Nomex flight gloves as mentioned (and linked) are great. I've also used deerskin ones and they are pricey, but great. Furthermore, the real aircraft does not have a metal stick... (Shocking, I know... but very few aircraft do actually). :D -

+1 Where do I buy?
-
Official word from TM: V1 or V3 corresponds to the firmware version that comes with the controller.
-
I don't know, but I can ask...... It could even be minor changes between production runs that are labeled as a new ver. AFAIK, no major changes have been made between the final beta run and the first release version, however, software and firemare are always WIP.

For someone who's spent a great deal of hours looking at F-16 shapes and versions, I'd have to agree. There's still a fair amount of work needed on this model. It doesn't take much for a shape like the F-16 to be "off" just enough, and a lot of times you can't put your finger on exactly what's wrong - but you know it ain't right. Keep up the good work!
-
Interesting... never even knew my cord had a tag, heh. However, I know there's already been a few builds since the first production runs and just like the beta units there were minor improvements being done continuously. Updates are to be expected throughout the lifecycle of the product.

Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 2 Tribute
LawnDart replied to slamraamproductions's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Nice video! -
I agree with Succellus' comment about a generic pit. I don't have a true replica pit, but one that is ergonomically comfortable and does the job well. Many of my teammates have F-16 replica panels, seats and in some cases full blown pits (with the HW center mounted to the ACES II seat add-on). While this is awesome, I agree that it's an endless money pit and hobby all in and of itself. While Lucky is mostly right about not needing rudders except for takeoffs and landings (especially in a crosswinds), it depends on what mission you're flying. Just as an example, what I do mostly in formation flying requires the use of rudders as much as the rest of the HOTAS. It's hard to rank TIR vs. rudders, but as mentioned, once you figure out what kind of flying you plan on doing the most it'll be easier to prioritize what to buy first.

Thanks for looking into it. :)

And who says there isn't enough interest in the community for another F-16 sim (just because it's already been done yada yada).:megalol: C'mon ED... make it happen!!! (You know every other F4 fanatic will still buy it regardless, which is $$ in the bank). :smilewink:

Correct, but the model here is definitely not a Block 30 if you look at the other tell-tale signs (such as the position of the landing lights on the nose gear door etc.). As I already mentioned, and was confirmed, it's a Block 50. Now, I agree the modelers need to narrow down their year and country a bit... There are so many variations of Vipers that if you try to be generic in your modeling you'll just end up being inaccurate and it won't match any version. Correct again, however, my main point was that the model appears to have brakes that open beyond >60 degrees. Cross reference the angle on it too against the dorsal fin. It would appear so, but it's impossible to tell if it has the right size/shape w/o a bigger screenshot. Actually, in the air they deploy in varying degrees based on data. The entire range of the LEFs are -2-to-25 degrees though.
