  1. More and more I'm becoming a cockpit minimalist. With PointCTRL, there's not a need to have any toggle switches, and I don't like having to sync them and hunt for them without seeing them. So that being said, I don't even use the F/A-18 switch panel that comes with the Super Taurus. I do, however, have a pair of Koolertron programmable keypads, one set behind the throttle and another behind the FSSB R3L. The right hand one is used for cockpit seat position, scratchpad mod, and a few other non-flight controls, as well as the ejection seat command (requires tapping two non-adjacent keys at the same time). The left hand one is used for panel controls (TEST panel, MANUAL PITCH OVERRIDE, DBU, YAW TRIM, and EXT LIGHTING), depending on what modifier I'm holding (I have two modifiers, pressing left or right on the Expand/FOV switch - the Realsimulator F16SGRH CE has this switch as a three-way hat). I also use the two hidden buttons underneath the throttle grip as modifiers. Losing the Orion's F-16 throttle rail bothers me a lot less than I thought it would. I'm fine using the F-16 grip with it. Having gotten the original F-16 TQS in the early 90s, then the Cougar, I've long had an attachment to that grip, and the F-16 has always been my favorite aircraft (I grew up wearing out copies of Iron Eagle in the 80s and then flying Falcon 3.0 and then 4.0). The only real con using this setup is that if I want to switch to the Hornet grips, I have to cut that zip tie. However, I've flown nothing but the Viper in DCS for the entire year.
  2. I ran the cable around the front of the throttles and stuck a standoff onto the left throttle arm that I ran a zip tie through to secure the cable. After looking at the way I have it, I see what you mean about running the bolts in from the right side. As for the nuts that fall out of the grip, I put them back in and put in some hot glue to hold them in place.
  3. I had a few reasons for upgrading. 1) Changed design of the keyboard tray. Before if I wanted to type I’d have to reach over and grab my keyboard then put it in my lap. Not stable. 2) Rudder pedal tray. I had to made several modifications to the MTX to get pedals where I wanted them. The redesign fixes this issue and allows for changing it easily anytime. 3) The HOTAS mounts swing out to the side when not in use, allowing easier entry/exit. 4) The MPS chair. The lack of side bolsters helps in BR, plus the design makes the mounting position a lot more customizable. The at my shoulder blades are makes my centering in VR difficult. Being able to twist the chair left/right makes it easier.
  4. Do you have it plugged into a powered hub or into the motherboard? If it's a powered hub it'll stay on because the hub is powered. If it's the PC, the lights will turn off when the PC does.
  5. Got mine this past week. I upgraded from the F-16/Orion 1 because of the panel/switch redesign and the possibility of future switch panels being mounted to it. I'll keep the F-16/Orion 1 as a backup.
  6. I'm pretty happy with it so far. The main reason I wanted it vs my previous chair is the lack of side bolsters. It's a LOT more comfortable in VR to twist around and click switches.
  7. The keyboard tray arrived earlier this week along with the Orion2 from Winwing. I also reversed the two armrests as they were bumping into the HOTAS mounts and couldn't be slid back any further. Here's an updated photo:
  8. Yes. Just used a thread ripper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  9. Thanks for the info. My wallet’s hurting enough lately… new MTS cockpit and MPS chair from Monstertech finally arrived.
  10. Does the v2 F-16 grip have a BLE module, or is that still only on the CE? I already have the CE... if the haptic feedback is the only change I won't upgrade, because BLE is a requirement for me, as I will use the F-16 grip on a center stick when flying the A-10.
  11. So, three months after ordering the cockpit and four months after ordering the chair, I now have my new MTS/MPS rig. Due to a lot of OT at work this past week, it's taken me a week to tear down the old cockpit and assemble the new one. Here's a few pictures I took along the way. I should note that I ordered the MTS Desk but have not yet received the keyboard tray and sliders, but should have them in the next few days. nullnull nullnull
  12. I do something similar in single player in VR. I have a small keypad that has the info bar keystroke programmed into it. I'll bring up the time page and set my time based on the info bar, clicking the ICP with PointCTRL.
  13. Thanks. MSRP, actually. Got my reservation in two hours after the announcement last year. Those two hours were spent hitting refresh every five seconds white the website was crashing.
  14. I waited 16 months for my Bronco... a year for PointCTRL considering the size of his operation should be easy-peasy in comparison. I promise you that PointCTRL will change everything for you.
  15. Don’t know how long the current wait is, but you should get PointCTRL. With it, all you really need is your HOTAS and VR headset.
  16. I've just gotten around to trying this, and I moved the F1-F12 comms input commands to the common files, and can't get them to show in DCS. What EXACT location should the common binding lua files go?
  17. I didn’t have time to fly it in VR yesterday, only time to set up control axes and cyclic bindings. I’ll have to get the rest going over the weekend. I also had to spend a few hours figuring out mounting the Virpil collective. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  18. Agree on the keyboard binding! [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  19. Will have to give it a shot sometime. Right now I’m in the middle of a Caucasus campaign in Liberation, flying the Viper out of Lochini. I don’t think I’ve flown anything else for several months. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  20. I keep my old v1 FCUs charged for that very reason. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  21. Also be wary of any lights above your setup. I have a ceiling fan right above my cockpit and only have bulbs on in the two lights pointed the other way. They’re also low wattage LEDs for a softer light. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  22. Big thing is you can keep you right hand on the stick and use your left for switches at the same time. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
