  1. Love to see a CVE/CVL done for WWII scearios. Lets start with the USS San Jacinto.
  2. I believe it's an Essex class we are getting for the Corsair... Close, Chiefs wear brown shoes if they are aviation rates, they also wear Aviation Greens too. There are Fireman, Seaman and Airman rates. We all wear black shoes till you make Chief in the aviation community. Fireman, Seaman rates (BM, MM, HM, PN, EM etc) always wear black shoes (E6 and below) no matter the rank, unless you are wearing whites then you wear white shoes (E7 and up)
  3. The USN Aviation aircraft designations have always been geared to the planes function within the airwing. VA, VF, VT..... The A-1, A-4, A-7 were all labeled "Light Attack" aircraft. The A-3, A-6 were "Medium Attack", none of them performed Fighter type duties, the A-7 did carry cheek mounted Sidewinders for self protection. Everything changed when the Hornet arrived, VA "Attack" became VFA "Strike Fighter". As military designations/nomenclature gets changed for no good reason (khaki's) the Lightning II which can carry ordnance is not called the F/A-35, but the F-35. The Navy in its infinite wisdom, has decided for the next decade or so Carrier Air Groups will consist of two Hornet squadrons, and two Lightning II squadrons. Their rolls will switch depending on the mission type. On the taxi overpass at NAS Lemoore when you go under the bridge the big sign says "welcome to Strike Fighter Country. Hoss
  4. With which Island structure?
  5. Air Force F-4 pilots called them their G.I.B. or "guy in back" ........... Call him Gibs, or Mr. Gibs
  6. I have a LG 32" monitor, and it has G-Sync compatibility, paired with an MSI RTX3080Ti. It runs at 61°C while running DCS. Get a 2Tb M.2 SSD. I havea 1Tb with IL2, IL2 Beta, DCS & DCS open Beta on it, there is very little room left on it. Get a 2Tb........
  7. It's VFA-122 for Hornets, and VFA-125 for F-35's at Lemoore. VAQ-129 For Growlers at Whidbey Is. Some Khaki is always trying to re-name something so he can leave his mark, and say he did "this" during his time. I always believed if it's not broken, it doesn't need fixing. AIMD where I worked was Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department, now they call it FRC, Fleet Readiness Center......... for what? at least with AIMD I knew it was Aviation related. Hoss
  8. I could be wrong, I was a WestPac sailor, and I believe the Ranger was the last West Coast carrier with F-4's, the Midway could of still had them too. And that was early 80's. The Forrestall is the perfect boat for Phantoms, Corsair II, Intruder's and Scooters...... A-1D Skyraider would be a nice addition too. Hoss
  9. There is a WRA in the Hornet (almost the same one in the Harrier) called an Interface Blanker. It turns on and off all RF emitting equipment in the aircraft, this determines their Duty Cycle. This keeps RF equipment from transmitting and receiving over each other. The ALQ-126 and the ALR-67 have a circuit card inside that is a memory for a threat library. It gives the DECM system a data base of "known" search, and fire control RADAR systems (surface and airborne), each have a distinct PRF/PW which is it's finger print. The system prioritizes, each for its effective range how lethal it is, and gives it a deception technique to Break lock, on a pulse for pulse basis. It raises the gain of the received pulse. That buries the actual return echo in the enemy RADAR receiver's noise so its not seen and injects the deception pulse in its place. Now the threat library knows NATO "western" radar systems and will not respond to them. But it will put an icon on the RHAW display, so you can tell if your wingie accidentally locks you up. Just because you put the system in Xmit/Repeat, does not mean it's going to transmit, the received signal has to have a signal strength strong enough to overcome the set sensitivity in your receiver to make it start repeating. DCS does not model DECM or ECM correctly in game, so debating on whether or not it's acting the way it should would be a exercise in futility. So being in a F/A-18 going up against a Iranian Tomcat, or Phantom you would need an AN/DLQ-3B to decieve their RADAR. That's not modeled right either....... Cheers Hoss 6641/6645/6639
  10. Sedenion's 128 dx script, search for that.
  11. I'll have to look at Boeing Discount Program, they cover HP products, I got my TMWH from Dell on BDP for $375.00 a few years back.
  12. Could you show us a screen shot of your "Axis Tune" page. I put a hell of a curve on mine too. But it still kicks the tail up when I touch it too hard.
  13. I took it up to 20k and it works like before, was hoping for animation too. Thanks
  14. I guess this is a virtual control, I still don't see any animation of the Ram Air lever. Guess I'll watch the "MP. I put it on an axis on my Blackhog... Thanks Hoss
  15. I love blowing the crap out of things, so first a P-38, second an A-20G, third a Beaufighter, and either a Typhoon, or Tempest would be nice for ground pounding. Want in one hand, and you know what in the other is parr for the virtual course.
  16. Damn, I feel old compared to you guys....... 64 here, retired twice, USN in 1997, and Boeing June 2021. You would think I have all the time in the world to fly DCS/IL2. The spousal unit and youngest Great Granddaughter keep me busy. I was a USN Avionics tech AT, Intermediate Maintenance on DECM systems. Did seven WESTPAC's on three different Carriers, three on the Connie (79 - 82), two on the Enterprise with VA-94 (85 - 89), and two on the Lincoln (93 - 97). Sometimes I actually think I miss it.......... sometimes.... I've got all the Warbirds, F-86, Mig-15, M-2000, F/A-18, F-16, A-10C, FC3. I'm working on learning the Hornet right now. I like to blow stuff up more than shooting stuff down. J.M.W. AT1(AW/SW) USN ret. Cheers Hoss
  17. Gouge= the dope, the skinny..... it means the inside info........ military term for information on a subject.
  18. Go on YouTube and search, I imagine you are not the first to see from all the Horror stories I read on HOTAS/HOSAS/SIMPIT Discord channel. I'm sure someone on here can send you an invite. I'm on my notepad.
  19. Milling about in a military manner...... LOL...? Seven WESTPACS on three different boats, two were ships company. You sound like a black shoe, Quartermaster?..... or Bosun?
  20. Fill it with sand, use thick wall PVC.
  21. Boosterdawg............... there are a boat load of youtube videos on how to set up the game, add this, delete that, plane specific tutorials, HOTAS setup, you name it and it's there. The Grim Reapers have what seems like a thousand videos on just about everything DCS. I would spend a good bit of time watching them. The training in the game is plane specific, so it won't tell you how to set up or use anything else. Grim Reapers Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZuXjkFY00p1ga3UyCBbR2w Spudknocker has a good channel too. https://www.youtube.com/c/Spudknocker do the training missions in game for the modules you have purchased, you can also do a trial with planes you may be interested in for free for a short time. But the Youtube is indispensable for all the other situations you may encounter. You will get good information on these forums too....................... well , sometimes..... Hoss
  22. The link to the webpage is in the post. Look in the service section.
  23. Although I'd pay for a P-38 without hesitation, there is a place for it on the ETO maps. And actual opposition planes with breathers to fly against. Hoss
  24. Next plane is probably going to be the F4U. Corsair. Hoss
  25. Ditto, main reason I won't fly the Jug in low light missions. Hoss
