Looks like Red won last nights battle, well they would have if some units were not bugged. Well done Reds! Sorry for the invisible units, I'm hoping to get a fix patched for that asap. In the mean time while I know it is far from ideal, please make sure you are deploying JTACs who should in theory still be able to Laser Designate invisible targets. -

It's the long term plan to have LotATC however until it can fucntion properly in a high density server we will be sticking with Combined Arms. The good news is LotATC is working together with SATAL so hopefully that will speed the process up a bit. We know it's a fantastic programme however it has traditionally not done so well in our server once the numbers start to get above 40. Hopefully this year will be the year we can start using it full time! -
Multiplayer has come a long way since the first DCS days with FC3 added, we used to only be able to host 16 clients in our server! Now we have several very highly populated servers that all see 30+ clients every day at some time around the clock. While MP in DCS can be frustrating it's not all doom and gloom, especially recently, I live stream a lot of my flights now and the evidence is there for anyone to see. I fly for hours without regular interruption, there are still stability issues but it's far from a lost cause and I certainly don't agree at all with your view on 9/10 people will never come back to DCS MP after trying it once. Yes stability is something that has plagued us for years but positive things are happening behind the scenes for MP. Despite what many people think, MP issues do get a lot of attention from the development team, if you read the change logs as updates come out you will always see MP fixes. My opinion on your opinions (lel) are that they are on the extreme end of the scale, there is no question that DCS MP is growing, no question at all. Every month more and more people are getting online and more Squadrons are starting. Yes stability is still an issue but we are seeing positive steps being taken. The 2.5 memory issue has left a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths but at the other end of the scale there are users who are not having any issues and literally fly for 4+ hours without interruption. We are seeing regular hot fix updates for 2.5 and the memory issue is getting a lot of attention and will hopefully be fully dealt with soon. There is light at the end of the tunnel, 2018 is shaping up to be an incredible year for DCS so I wouldn't get off the train just yet. Despite some hick ups there really is genuine promise for long running stable MP missions, the test team is working with all major server hosts within the community to try and identify the causes of the transport.dll crashes and others. Just keep a little faith and it will go a long way. I'm still here and I've been here for more than 8 years now and there are many more people that have been around way longer than I have! You said it yourself, nothing comes close to DCS MP when it's working. That's why we have all stuck around. This has not gone unnoticed, there is a lot of love for MP, people just don't get to see it because it happens behind closed doors. It's not the shunned project that some people think it is, it's one of those things that is much more complicated than most people would think it is, so making seemingly 'simple' fixes is not actually an easy task. Things are 100% getting better, I've been exposed to DCS MP logs on a daily basis for the past 6 years as an admin on the 104th so I can vouch first hand that we are seeing improvements! Keep the faith! Soon™

Operation Longbow will be down this evening as we run a test on behalf of our friends at BuddySpike. Our server will be hosting a test version of Blue Flag to gather MP data from an external source, this data will hopefully go towards increasing MP stability across the community. Please join us if you can! -

You are flying around with the chat off. You just got booted from the server for teamkilling a friendly Roland Radar Site at an active airbase. Make sure you understand how the mission works by reading the briefing on post #1 and check out the maps linked of the airbases to show you where friendly and enemy units are. If you get kicked without firing any weapons it's because your connection has become unstable and you have been removed for high ping. -

The loading time is down a memory problem with DCS 2.5 and has nothing to do with the mission set up. The mission is one of the most stable missions in the entire community at the moment specifically because I have not used scripts to replace the trigger functions. There are over 3300 units in the mission, more than 70% of those are on late activation. Despite what you might be thinking, I know exactly what I am doing ;) -

I think the only way to get around this is by turning your Helmet Volume down, you should still be able to hear SRS but the AI will be muted. Moving in to Bullseye West is a very dangerous prospect! Sadly if you do not have CAP it's highly unlikely you are going to make it back to base. Unfortunately this is one of those realism side effects that we didn't have in our older missions, but I think it adds more value to pulling it off. I've been shot down loads of times crossing the line in to BZW but the times when you make it in and out are usually some of the most epic sorties! At present a good amount of people are using SRS but we can do better. Once more and more clients come around to the new style of play we will get a lot more co-ordination between CAP and CAS, it just might take a few more weeks. -

Today's fixes and updates, post #2 updated. Fixes -Refuelling on RED FARPs now can only be accomplished by the ATZ-10 - Fixed Updates -Added Patriot system along the Georgian Turkey border to give NATO AWACS same cover as Russian AWACS. Its a bug with certain units being invisible. The team are aware of this and are working on a fix. No this is intentional. We have had problems in the past with people abusing the smoke to intentionally try and crash the server. Sadly this is the internet and the word is full of 'interesting' people go out of there way to ruin other people enjoyment. Yes it has been a while since we retested it however its not really a priority. While it would be nice to mark targets via smoke, we think that there are now enough platforms in DCS with the ability to laser designate including deployable JTACS by helicopter pilots that its a better option to have the smoke disabled and rely instead on precision LGB to get the job done. This is on the long term plan for Longbow as well as potentially adding more airfields to capture but it will take a lot of work. A lot of work that to be honest I am not to much in a hurry to do at the moment. It took 12-15 hours a day for 12 days in a row to make Longbow and now I'm looking at Nevada options as well as trying to keep up with bug fixes etc on Caucasus. That said however Longbow is far from finished, I plan to keep bolting bits on as we go along with lots of exciting features and team bonuses such as Apache sweeps of enemy airfields to clear up any deployed infantry units etc... cool stuff! I'm not having a go at you personally because I know you sort of understand this through our previous conversations..... but..... its not supposed to be fair. The intention of Longbow was to give clients a different experience every time they are in the server. While the mission objectives are the same the set ups will always be slightly different depending on the coalition balance. Sometimes there is a close balance and its a fair fight, other times you are heavily outnumbered and essentially have to accept the fact that while that situation continues there is no chance for your coalition to make any sort of positive progress...... What you can do however is try to limit the damage by making it as hard as possible for the enemy to take ground. I know this isn't fair... but we don't do fair... that's really important for people to remember. NATO was on the receiving end last night, Red had captured Senaki and were right on the verge of taking Kutaisi. NATO only had around 5 Eagles trying to hold back the advanced and we got smashed to bits for hours... but we held Kutaisi and eventually after 4-5 hours of heavy assault managed to come back and regain ground. Basically what I am saying is the days of thinking you can join the server and get a 50 / 50 fair fight in a balanced set up is over. Taking part in Longbow is going to mean sometimes you are going to get the crap kicked out of you and you are going to die a lot. But all good things come to an end and if you fight hard enough for long enough you get the chance to turn the tables, I seen it with my own eyes last night and streamed it all live. I'm not in favour of intentionally moving all the units to make them easier to see, I think this is getting to close to 'easy mode'. The mission is not supposed to be easy or achievable for one aircraft to get everything done, if you can't get a visual or a certain unit, get another aircraft type to try. Units that are inside or right under tress are a different story and I have done my best to move them all a sensible distance away. But I have also tried to insert myself into that tank / APC / SAM commanders position, I wouldn't park my asset in the middle of a field to get shot, I'd use the cover available to try and protect as many of my flanks as I could so I could focus my SA in a certain direction. Trees are now a thing just like RW, sometimes there is stuff in the way :) Exactly, realism bla! You'll get there bra... I believe! Now go away, I'm a busy man! ;) The memory issue is known to the dev team and they are working on a fix. Its on the cards, but it will take a lot of time to do, time that I don't have right now, Nevada is planned first then a big upgrade to Longbow. I'll put it on the to do list. -
