  1. Workplace complacency?
  2. I think he means what specifically the word chit means in chit-chat. If you look up the etymology of chit-chat, it will tell you that it is a diminishing reduplication, which just means that it is a mutation of chat, essentially chat chat. However, (speculation time) if you look up the word "chit" by itself, "child" is an archaic definition for chit. So this could actually mean child-talk. It makes sense if you consider the conversations of young children to be largely inconsequential.
  3. I find it amusing that the new policy of not saying anything has restricted them from announcing their new policy.
  4. If it was to reduce the AI load of Hueys, that can now be done by the mission creator since door gunners can be removed from the aircraft. Anyone who places door gunners on an aircraft is doing so for the deliberate reason of wanting them to shoot at things. For them to not work is illogical and misleading, but I understand if this is a workaround for some problem or simply awaiting implementation.
  5. I kind of agree with Flagrum's sentiment. I think that "Valve PR policy" or whatever they are doing now is a mistake. (for that matter, ED changing their PR policy a couple of times a year is a mistake too. I never know what to expect from ED PR because it is different every time I look). I think the success of Minecraft can be taken as a case study for the power of strong community interaction. That game took off not because of the quality of the game, but because of his stellar community interaction. Early on Notch was blogging and tweeting daily, and replying to comments of his users, which helped keep interest in the game high. Star Citizen is good example of what focused PR can do. There is a large number of people that will claim it is the best thing in the world, and spend a lot of money on a game that isn't even released yet. I realize that browsing the forums takes time, which translates to money, but this quote is relevant: “A man who stops advertising to save money is like a man who stops a clock to save time.” – Henry Ford Maintaining a forum presence is essentially advertising, and it is probably a lot more cost effective than that TV spot ED payed for. If you are really passionate about your product, then it is something you shouldn't mind doing in your spare time too.
  6. Anyone who at least played around with the EFM API a little bit would know that it is actually not possible (without some hackery) to mix and match SFM wheels and engines with an AFM for aerodynamics. I assume most people have not done this.
  7. Probably not until they do an avionics/systems upgrade, and at that point it will basically be A-10C level. They have said they were also upgrading the engine model, fuel system model, ground handling model, and flight control system. (which goes beyond "Just aerodynamics") http://www.belsimtek.com/news/1459/
  8. I voted yes, and by that I mean not until it can be played on EDGE.
  9. That could be part of it, but I am guessing it has more to do with the fact that no flyable airplane in DCS has working ground radar yet. A solution to make everyone happy is to put a "(Fictional)" tag in the name of any liveries that have not been used in real life.
  10. Funny you should say that.
  11. There are 9 pylons on the 2000C. If you only take one ARMAT, you should be able to load at least 6 cluster bombs (more if we are given the multi-ejectors for them). If you want to go completely all out, stations 1 and 9 can also take rocket pods.
  12. At least since this post (2011): Pretty cool though.
  13. That really depends upon what you consider "proper". Sure, we won't be able to precision bomb things from 30000 feet, but there is nothing wrong with old fashioned low level airstrikes and visual target acquisition. A dead tank doesn't care how sophisticated its killer was. I don't think it works with RDI, but this post is probably why it was mentioned as a possible weapon. The Greek Mirage 2000 was modified to carry the Exocet. Here is a French 2000C carrying two ARMATs. The green camo was also used on the single seat Mirage III. It would be a fictional skin. That is completely incorrect. Many of the single seat export variants used A/G without a WSO. The single seat 2000-5 is also fully A/G capable. A WSO certainly makes things easier though.
  14. Yeah, this whole discussion is off topic now. The latest 3 images on ED's facebook are the black sea map (upgrade I assume) that is in development/testing for EDGE. The context of the ED quote by Maler was regarding this map. https://www.facebook.com/eagle.dynamics/photos_stream
  15. Thanks. I am guessing he does mean EDGE, but that statement (in its context) is ambiguous enough, he might only be referring to the Black Sea map integration that needs "grooming."
  16. But they could always be like: "Surprise! There is no 1.2.8!" Like they did with the A-10C Beta 5. Either way, I am happy that EDGE and DCS integration has reached a point where they are willing/capable of publishing in-game screenshots of it.
  17. Do you have a link to the official statement? Does your title make you a representative of ED?
  18. Depends upon if you are referring to the open beta release or not.
  19. I agree with both of you. The 2000C was meant for A-A combat, but my air force is fresh out of the 2000D, so I will have to use the 2000C to fill that gap. It would look cool in the green camo while I am at it.
  20. Man, ED testers must get really excited about bug fixes then. That is some dedication! You basically shot down everything else.
  21. Here is my list of things that I am guessing might be in 1.2.8: F-15C AFM BAE Hawk Fw-190 Su-33 cockpit EDGE NTTR UH-1H sling load CA 1.5 Oculus rift MiG-21 (They could add the AI model prior to module completion like the Belsimtek did) Other
  22. Yes, I agree, but it should be the AS-37 ARMAT, not the AS-37 Martel. As far as I can tell, the Mirage 2000 never used the Martel version. As for laser guided weapons, maybe they will be willing to do a payed avionics upgrade to the 2000-5 standard at some point.
  23. I don't have speakers for my desktop, and my headphones don't have a microphone on them. This means I have my headphones plugged into my desktop for output, and I could use the integrated microphone on my laptop for input, but then I have to connect on both computers and mute myself, or be stuck with bad audio quality from the laptop speakers.... or I could just go buy a microphone, but my joystick needs to be replaced first...
  24. I presume this is you. It still shows you on the backer list. https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/237444530
  25. False. DCS: F-22 was never officially cancelled. IRIS still claims they are working on their DCS projects. Here is their latest statement regarding DCS. http://www.irissimulations.com.au/forum/announcements-1/dcs-world-and-iris#p55 Probably because people are voting for what they consider a realistic expectation, not just what they think would be the most cool.
