  1. Sure, why not. Aircraft: UH-1H, Speed: 505 km/h, Altitude: 3484 m. I figured the NASA paint was appropriate. Track attached. Ignore the bad flying. hueyspeedtest2.trk
  2. I liked it more back when it was Discovery Wings.
  3. In a post some time ago I think Wags talked about taking an incremental approach with the F-15, so it could eventually be at the same level as the A-10C, with a clickable cockpit. I'll see if I can find that post. (Also RAZBAM is working on a (presumably) clickable pit F-15E) Well this is the closest I could find. I thought there was something more substantial regarding potential future development. It could be an error of my interpretation. Found it.
  4. Even if people are not allowed to speculate openly on the forums here, they are still going to speculate internally. For some people, expressing their thoughts is a healthy way to release stress and exercise the mind. For other people, seeing speculation may lead to believing something with little or no evidence as truth. I personally find speculation entertaining, especially the more wild it gets, while others may consider it potentially threatening, but just because you can't see a fire, doesn't mean it isn't there. I think the two most important things are: Is speculation going to change your decision to purchase the MiG-21 or future modules? Is there something better to talk about? If not, then:
  5. Now that we have DCS WWII coming up, I wouldn't be too surprised if we ended up getting something like that eventually, at least as an AI version.
  6. This is semi-related. I ran out of ammo in the Huey, so I decided to ram an infantry soldier for an extra kill. Much to my surprise, it flipped my helicopter completely over while airborne, resulting in a rather spectacular crash landing. Infantry seems to have infinite momentum.
  7. They were discontinued in favor of monthly newsletters for various reasons. The discussion thread can be found here.
  8. EDGE is going to make CA so much better. That combined with 1.5, I might find myself driving tanks more often. Watch out, Vegas.
  9. It's good for shooting videos and screenshots, but I spend more time looking at the inside than the outside of my plane. DCS game mode can be played entirely in third person view though, so maybe if that could be integrated with this mod it would be worth it for some Ace Combat style action.
  10. If they abandoned the project, then why would they post this? http://www.irissimulations.com.au/forum/announcements-1/dcs-world-and-iris#p51
  11. I disagree. This belongs in the Military and Aviation section.
  12. Well ED is working on an F-18C. I would expect any airplanes from around the same time to be doable. F-15, F-16, Mirage 2000, Tornado. There are plenty of older western planes still in service somewhere too.
  13. The C-130H without a doubt. Even Iran has them.
  14. Rafale B F3D/F-10 MiG-31 YF-12A
  15. I'm not sure how effective circle strafing would be in real life, and I have not really done it much in DCS, but I did get banned from a Battlefield Vietnam server for circle strafing in the Cobra. I think the main problems with circle strafing are: A. It requires you to be way within your weapons range to be effective. B. You are not looking at where you are going. (target fixation trap) C. You are an easier target for enemies that are outside your circle.
  16. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed by everything at once. Guns and unguided rockets are fairly simple to use and still pack a punch. If you use autostart then all you really have to do to shoot rockets is click DSMS, click a rocket pod, and fire. You don't need to know how to use every system on the airplane to blow stuff up. Save the more complex stuff for later when you feel ready for it.
  17. You should be mindful of post timestamps before you jump to conclusions. That post was made the minute following moderation, and it is possible (likely) he started making the reply prior to SiThSpAwN's post appearing for him.
  18. Here is my list: Rafale M A320 AH-1Z Ka-52 F3D
  19. Why even bother with the airplanes? I will be making a "Pacific theater" as soon as I get my hands on the terrain toolkit.
  20. People will keep making threads like this even if he does.
  21. Right. The difference is that with the $40 pledge you have to wait until 1944 is available. With the $60 pledge you get the FW190 as soon as it is available, which may be before 1944 is available. It is basically early access. I have not seen any official statements mentioning dual licensing, nor contradicting the statement linked by GT 5.0.
  22. My problem with Arma 2 flying was that my view distance was was so short that every landing was IFR, except without any proper instruments.
  23. Now I can finally put jammers on both wings of my EA-10C.
  24. Isn't this entire thread off topic? The OP is about muffins, not bacon.
  25. I would like to challenge this statement though. High performance does not have to mean death trap. While combat aircraft are not designed to fly like airliners, they are not designed to be hard or dangerous to fly either, and they often have sophisticated control computers to improve their handling. The more attention the pilot has to devote to flying the airplane, the less they have for managing combat. The A-10C is in my opinion easy to fly, and I have not flown the Su-25T much, but I don't remember anything challenging about it. The key with both is to not pull too much on turns or you will stall and lose turn rate (and potentially enter roll). The last time I tried pulling a really hard corner in an airliner in FSX I entered an unrecoverable flat spin and crashed. I have not even managed to do that on purpose in the A-10C. Also, You are right that it takes many hours to have all of the specific procedures down for one aircraft (depending upon complexity), but most airplanes can technically be flown without knowing most of the procedures, and general flight skill is fairly portable between airplanes. I can "feel" an airplane well enough to safely land it without knowing the correct approach speed. Having procedures down is more important for combat survivability because doing the right thing quickly matters when you are being shot at. There is certainly a long stretch between "able" and "effective", but even so, just knowing how to arm the guns (two switches) is sufficient to have some destructive fun in the A-10C. The key is, it doesn't take hundreds of hours before you can A: fly around without crashing, B: blow stuff up, C: have fun. (Actually it only took me about 2 hours (maybe?) before I knew how to properly operate every system on the P-51 without a checklist.)
