New Thrustmaster Gear - Live Tweeting

Thrustmaster are as I type announcing new products. Dojo is live tweeting it, I'd wait until all this stuff is out in the open before you pull the trigger on a new Hotas. But the warthog is great to answer your question. Very precise, but has a heavy spring so not ideal for helo unless you trim constantly.
-
Yes if you do a Harrier and Falklands map. Otherwise, no.

Yeo agree with the subforum. It will save your sanity. :-) and allow elaboration in a bugs individual thread. Although have to say, it's good to see that the kinds of bugs being reported are more of the tweak or minor flaw variety. Very good to see in a first release

Very much support this. Central position mode is a must. The control spike after trimming is a killer in a machine as sensitive as this.

I didn't know Scott Manley played DCS :P

Thanks! Great piloting!

Really? Checked for conflicts and have tried it with both TIR and without. The effect is linked to rotor RPM, not present when aircraft is on the ground and cold, then builds as rotor rpm increases, it also increases with flight through transition. It's designed i'm guessing, to give haptic feedback for sensations that you can't experience as your bum is not in the seat. But it also seems to effect the actual cockpit view camera slightly as well as shake the panel. It's a cool effect, but overdone slightly. I didn't experience this sharp vibration in the Gazelle on the few flights that I had in it. It's been noted in the enhancements thread, so not really a big, just more a slight overcooking of an effect. Perhaps give users an option to control it, as combined with the stroboscopic rotor shadow it gives me a raging headache after about 10 minutes and I have to stop flying. Either that or disconnect the vibration from the camera and vibrate the panel instead.
-
Agree, while its a cool effect, it's a bit overdone. I was lucky enough to have a couple of flights in a gazelle and really wasn't that... Vibrate-y ;) As it seems to effect the camera as well, after a while it gives me a bit of a headache and makes me fee a bit queasy. As I say. A very cool effect, but maybe let people tune it to their tastes.

Aha... well thars yer problem ;-) The reason you're running out of trim in the cruise is possibly due to the beep trim system has only so much authority. You'll need to force trim and then fine tune from there. I was sad to see the Gazelle go. It made a lovely sound. Which I am very happy to see that Polychop has captured perfectly.

Interesting. Scots, ended up everywhere, we pretty much built the empire. So not horrified at all. Actually the Gazelle isn't that modern, it goes back to the 60's, and bits of the hardware came off the Alouette which is a museum piece now. It's only about 10 or 15 years more recent then the Huey really. The variant we have here is only modern in the sense of the weapon system it carries, the rest of it is pure mid-cold war. It's a pretty utilitarian helo to be honest. The couple of times I got to get in one it was very basic. An Army Air Corps pilot scared the crap out of me in the highlands with some very low level NOE antics.

The Ap button on the stick is an AP disconnect I think. If you hit it the needles on the AP channels park, and then when you hit it again they come back to center. I will dig through the flight manual later and see what I can find. It's for the G model but, it should be similar.
-
Yep, just a little delay like in all the other helos. Will sort it right out.

Right Control Enter

Yes, it appears that there isn't a central position option that kills input until the stick is centered, that's all that seems to be missing. Thank you for understanding. I was beginning to feel like I was stuck in a loop trying to get this problem across to the OP.
-
Thank you. Sabreman. This is exactly what was needed. This is what the OP wasn't understanding. However when I press the force trim button, and others are experiencing a control spike immediately after release, upon moving the stick back to center. It's like there isn't a "wait until centered" clause or a timeout to let you smoothly center the stick.
-
So are we ready to agree then that the trim system is not behaving as designed on the real aircraft? As your experience is totally contrary as to how the real aircraft works.
-
Yes, it will settle out to where you trimmed it, curves and saturation effect the severity of the spike as it appears to be a proportion of stick deflection so experiment, and you can tune it out to a degree. Also smooth hands will prevent the spike causing a PIO. Still not right though, or how the system works, but I'm sure they will get to fixing it as everything else in this module is so damn good.
-
Nope, exactly. Currently when you force trim the controls spike and you have a momentary small bump or porpoise, which is not correct, or how the real aircraft behaves. It will then settle into trimmed flight, the desired result. The solution is a central position mode. You, have understood it fully.

I'm sure all your time in the US navy gave you many hours in a Gazelle. I'm very jealous, I only ever got to fly in it left seat a couple of times. If you don't see the spiking, then good for you. I will quite happily post a video demonstrating it. Enjoy.

Player seems almost indestructible. If you crash into the ground in a high-G non-survivable manner, you are not instantly killed. Aircraft burns for some time and then you die, sometimes not.
