Ok, have a nice day. :music_whistling: If you can't see the control spiking after you trim then I can't discuss this further. Also, if you are flying hands off... then that means you have re-centered your stick, which is contrary to your own "advice" So yeah. Done here. I'm glad that is works for you. But don't presume my level of understanding.
-
It would appear that there isn't a binding for it. I had a good look through for you and couldn't find one, sorry.
-
There isn't one. It is just a trim binding. which by default is "T", I would suggest putting it on your stick though. Ignore the stuff about trim being an off/on function. Make sure you have enabled both trim switches on the main panel first.
-
This advice is only relevant if you have a ffb stick (which isn't implemented yet), or a stick with no centering spring. Also I suggest you re-read the manual as your understanding of how the magnetic hold system works is not quite right.
-
Just hold up there... I am pressing and immediately releasing. Go and do the same with the control window open and you will see the control input spike proportional to your control input. This is an issue. Also your understanding of how the trim system functions is incorrect. So please don't presume about other people's level of knowledge. From the manual... "The magnetic brake maintains the cyclic in a defined position. Pressing the magnetic brake button at the pilot stick will define a new position to hold." The hat switch then *further* refines that position. Nothing about the mag trim button turning it on and off. hit mag trim, fly, hold new attitude, hit trim, fly. Nothing about holding buttons down. (Which is only a workaround for the KA-50) You are just adding confusion here. "The trim actuator will allow fine trimming, it can be set with the pilot cyclic china hat. Its main purpose is to allow the pilot to finely set the aircraft attitude, bring small modifications to the speed etc ... It may be used complementary with the magnetic brake system." In order to simulate this without FFB you have to recenter your stick, this simulates the cancelling of force. There has to be a delay in order to let you do that. And there appears to be a small issue with that, hence the control spike. But as I said, I'm sure this will be fixed.
-
Also... not really good enough. No disrespect meant. The KA-50, Mi-8 and UH1 all have similar electro-mechanical systems that zero forces. They all have implementations that allow it to be simulated for non-ffb users. You need to be able to set the pitch, hit the trimmer, center the stick and carry on. Like in any other module. The other method is for fine tuning only. Right now when you trim, it spikes the input and causes you to bounce around. As an aside, the KA50 used to do this too, before it was fixed. Also, using the other method in conjunction with mag trim, (as also stated in the manual Rocky) resets the mag trim... I will completely understand if it's on the list of things to be fixed, or is something that got inadvertently broken, and will patiently wait for it to be fixed in due course. However if it is by design that a major control and stability system can only be used by a tiny fraction of flight sim hardware, that's a problem.

The Gazelle is beautiful, but the trim does seem very broken. There has to be an implementation of central position mode with the magnetic trim for non-ffb users. Using the other graduated trim is fine tuning only, and doesn't have full authority. Right now the mag trim is spiking when you click. Rather then giving you a delay to allow you to recenter. Can we confirm if this is as intended or is it just something that will come right in time?

I concur, something feels very strange about what the SAS is doing. It's almost like it's multiplying oscillation rather then damping it.
-
But to come back to topic. I find that you just need to be very quick. Tap tap tap. You'll be able to trim it out to the point where you just need fingertip pressure to keep straight and level.
-
Not sure what you are driving at here...? Buzzies is correct. Trim removes stick forces. Not for allowing hand's off flight. He's not saying that trim is unnecessary. Flying without trim will cause muscle cramp because of the required stick force to hold attitude. Which you would remove with trim... so... [edit] Possibly you're confused by his FFB comment. In general a non-force feedback stick always feels like a correctly trimmed aircraft. So the simulated trimming doesn't give you a feel response. Is what he's driving at. Not that trim is unnecessary.
-
I don't think it's going to release anytime soon. At the end of the live stream Wags said that they hope to do "another one of these" sometime soon. So if "these" was in reference to the Gazelle then it would indicate that we are a ways off. Happy to be proved wrong though, but don't get your hopes up is all i'm saying.

Could you not change the max and minimum FoV in the views lua for the airframe? So you want your default to be 60 deg, define a min of 20 and max 100. 60 being in the middle of those two limits, which would then map to the centre detent of the slider?

The Deephack and dotChuckles DCS Podcast 1
dotChuckles replied to dotChuckles's topic in Community News
The podcast is designed to be enjoyed either as something you might want to watch, or as something that you listen to in the background. I can't think of a finer activity then building models and having some blokes witter on about flight sims in the background :) perfect Saturday afternoon. Pop the video on in your browser and minimize it, make sure you post lots of pictures of your finished model though. I love seeing what people build. In the future we are planning to have a few more visuals, that we can bring to the party, and might make the video experience a bit more engaging. However we will still also make it available as an audio only format, so it won't be anything that will take away from that or be essential to enjoyment. The video delay is down to us not tuning hangouts to work in the most efficient way that it can, we'll endeavor to improve it. I am also looking into other methods of that will let us mix in more visuals and streams, while hopefully not having to do a round trip through several encoders. With this one, we really wanted to just dip our toes in the water and see how it was received... think of this as our Alpha release ;) As I said to snoopy, as soon as we get the audio only formats sorted I'll publish the details, there is just a couple of things we want to get nailed before we do that. But thank you for listening! And good luck with your modeling. I have a Revell 1:48 GR4 that I am itching to rip open when I get some time. -

Hi Snoopy, we are getting a couple of assets together, chiefly deciding on an official name and such before we push to iTunes. I'll put a message up here as soon as it's available though :-) -

Thanks every one for their kind comments and enthusiasm! I glad you're all enjoying this, we just love talking about this stuff so if you guys like it we'll keep doing it :-) -
Unless you engage a second aircraft with a different wingspan ;-)

Hi guys, myself and Deephack have decided to enter the world of podcasting. Please go and have a listen, or watch our first offering here were we talk news, opinion and rumours about DCS and flight simming. Hopefully this will be the first of many! Should have it out on itunes and other podcasting sources soon too.

DCS is moving Forward..Controls menu in the Dark ages.
dotChuckles replied to jaydee's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
I think one of my biggest complaints is there is no naming convention. I'm recalling from memory here, but one of the things that highlights is the command to deploy airbrakes. IIRC It's listed from module to module as... Extend Airbrakes, Speedbrakes, Deploy Airbrakes, Airbrakes, etc, etc. So do I look under E, S D, A? I think just having a common way of organising or naming major components would help. The categories help certainly, but then for example (again from memory) with the M2000 the command to change the range on the radar is in the Stick category, which makes sense as that is where the button is, but surely it should be in the sensor category too? That relies on the user knowing that that button is located on the stick. Now that can be found out with a bit of reading, but the point it to make things easier, rather then throwing road-blocks up. -
Yep, I'm with the OP... This is the definitive Huey soundtrack.

L-39 Training missions voices in russian
dotChuckles replied to Tarres's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
While I am now pretty familiar with the L-39. For the people that aren't and the newcomers to simming in general this isn't good. Trying to learn an aircraft in a different language, while working your way round the cockpit AND trying to read the very small text translation basically induces task saturation and ensures that nothing is absorbed. I am sure the mod community will get round to fixing this problem for locations that aren't Russian speaking. -
Is it not the case that, aircrew shut the aircraft down & secure on the apron for ground crew to then tow it out to the HAS anyway? Pretty much what I saw when I lived across Leuchars, unless I was mistaken.

Swerve all over the place on landing and tackoff - Why?

Also, the ground handling is still work in progress and if i'm not mistaken, is being addressed in a future update. -
Panavia Tornado by Polychop-Simulations?
dotChuckles replied to phant's topic in Polychop-Simulations
Forget the ADV ;) it's all about the ultra low level bombing  -
I wonder if it's a case that this is more realistic, and we are used to radar systems that are a little *too* good if you get what I mean?

It would most certainly have been "Starman" I never listened to him much, but I can completely acknowledge that he influenced and inspired so many of the artists in the rock/metal scene that I do listen to. RIP
