The obvious benefit of removing the umbilicle connectors from the pylons earmarked for carrying gas bags provided cost saving and ease of maintenance. But from a purist point of view what I believe should be implemented is how the airframe and components come from the OEM. Not local cost saving initiatives that didn't affect operational capability anyways because the common loadout is 2x gas bags on stations 4 and 6. I believe that it would be best to solve this by allowing mission designers and/or server admins to allow or restrict the loadouts as they see fit.

Where can I find information about the difference between the new and the old SPO logic? Cheers

I can confirm there are issues with the MiG-21 radar, and apart from what is reported above it is also affecting how the MiG-21 radar is showing up on other fighters' RWR. This bug has already been reported in the Closed Beta group, and it is being addressed. Bug was introduced on release of 2.7 and it is still there in current version 2.7.5659. I tested together with Pikey and we tested vs various aircrafts' RWR: AV-8B, F-16, F-18, JF-17 (all flown by Pikey) vs MiG-21bis (flown by ViFF) Results were always the same: The adversary jet will get a MiG-21 nails indication on his RWR at no more than 12 to 13 miles at the most and the MiG-21 radar nails is always only in search mode. No lock indication on the adversary fighter when the MiG-21 locks the radar on the target adversary. The MiG-21 never becomes a priority threat on the RWR, even at very close range, under 2 miles. In most cases the MiG-21 was able to pick up the adversary jet on his own radar scope before the adversary RWR was showing a MiG-21 nails indication on his RWR. When the MiG-21 closes in and achieves a radar lock, the adversary jet did not get a lock warning. Only launch warning of FOX-1 after the MiG has fired the R-3R. I switched to F-5E and we tested again. The adversary jet picked up the F-5E nails on the RWR at the expected range of aprox 40 - 50 miles, and also reacted with lock indication when the F-5E locked them up. The MiG-21 now has sneaky stealthy radar... and the adversaries do not get any lock indication when the MiG-21 locks up a target in STT. So now you can understand why its no surprise that you are seeing all these recent youtube videos from Hadwell how he is sneaking up on and killing everybody around him in GS, BF, 104th, etc So to summarize: Bug #1: The "21" nails/spike of a MiG-21 is showing up on other fighters' RWR at a very small range, essentially the same range that the MiG-21 is picking them up on his own radar, with the variance on detection range based on aspect being carried over to the RWR of the target aircraft. It seems the two are tied together to show up at the same time on each other's opposing scope. What's happening is that the RWR of the target will start seeing a "21" nails at aprox the same range the the radar scope of the MiG-21 is able to pick up the target. Bug #2: When the MiG-21 has the radar locked on a target, there is no indication of a lock on the RWR of the target Cheers!

The Python 4 and especially the 5 family are claimed to have advanced options such as Lock On After Launch (LOAL) and other nifty sensor, guidance and autopilot functions such as electro optic imaging and post merge full sphere launch ability that are simply impossible to get any reliable information about. Marketing materials of the OEM toting these abilities should not be considered reliable data. The fact of these missiles existence in any "other" software title claiming to be a "simulation" is simply a joke to their claim as there is no available data to simulate any of these attributes.

As far as I know the Python 3 was not used on the IAF F-16. Only used on the F-15, Kfir, and sometimes F-4E. Cheers

Did update 2.5.6.59625.1 break the servers
ViFF replied to BoneDust's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
Hi Bonedust nothing has changed, there are some small issues with the Syria map that sometimes cause dedicated server to crash or get dropped from the webGUI but otherwise no problems. Can you explain a bit more in detail? Also please post the content of your serverSettings.lua I will try to help you. Cheers! -
The buildings are there in real life. Runway 27 is very rarely used for landings. The most telling evidence is the skid marks on the threshold. Compare the skid marks of runways 33 & 29 vs 27 in the google maps picture linked by shu77. There are hardly any skid marks on runway 27... Cheers!

Hi ! Sorry late for the feedback for the IAF community, it was tons of fun on a very well built mission, the 104th guys are brilliant and an extremely good bunch to play alongside with and it was nice to win for a change :) I've read everything and some good ideas are being discussed! Just wanted to provide input from my side. On this round I played in the CA slots and changed to GCI role in the 2nd half of the mission when 104th_Tiger requested to switch with somebody so he could do some CA or flying or both :D With regards to the CA slots some insights of mine to share: 1. Tactical Commander slots can change STATE & ROE from the F10 map, assign targets to AI assets (air and ground) and enter the vehicles as 1st person and drive around. 2. All sensor and LoS contacts are shared between all CA types of slots on the F10 map. 3. Changing the STATE of a ground unit group to GREEN will remove that group's shared sensor & Los contacts (if it was shared exclusively only from that specific group). So for ground units that don't radiate radar emissions like a tank or jeep or truck it shouldn't be touched. Only ROE to HOLD if you want to keep it hunkered down and hiding but still sharing its sensor and LoS contacts on the F10 map. The Radar SAMs however, you may want to change to GREEN as needed so that the radar will stop all emissions. 4. JTAC/Operator can not give any group orders from the F10 map (STATE, ROE, movement, artillery fire missions, AI aircraft intercept, etc) but can enter the vehicle as 1st person and can change the ROE of the group via the radio menu "F10 Other". 5. In case of ground unit groups that have more than one unit (which was not the case in this mission but anyways) it is possible to give movement orders to the group from 1st person by using the group control function "G" while in 1st person in any position of the ground unit. 6. Isometric view is very effective for close range fighting in urban areas. Zoom out and use Track IR to peek over the hill and around corners... Its just like having your very own infantry squad scouting ahead for you ;) 7. Lastly, if the person doing the role of GCI is doing only that and is not needed to intervene in the ground combat & movements (and in an event with 50+ clients it is a lot of BRA callouts & Bulls callouts work with the ruler tool all in parallel with very intense comms back and forth) there is no need for the person playing the role of GCI to be in a Tactical Commander Slot. The Observer slot shows everything the same as the Tactical Commander can see, just without the ability to give orders from the F10 map or enter vehicles as 1st person. With regards to the F10 map its actually a bit gamey because the granularity and near real time update rate of the icons displayed is very high and unrealistic. You're easily calling out references to where the enemy is at very short range a-la "He's a couple of hundred meters behind and below you to your left 8' o'clock and he just fired a missile at you - flares now!!!". My hope for events with hard core enthusiasts like me is that GCI would be allowed only on LotATC (where the granularity and update rate produces a "merge" is at around 5 miles) and have all the airplanes "hidden" in the ME so that they don't show up on the F10 map for the CA slots. Thank you again Alpenwolf for one of the best experiences in DCS! Thank you 104th & Mike Delta for the fantastic mutual cooperation with the IAF. I hope we can do more of these in the future. Thank you Reds showing up and for being brilliant flyers and ground commanders, it was very challenging! Salute!

The Python 3 is actually already in the DCS library as the Chinese PL-8. I recall there was a mod by iafscx with the Python 3 for the F-15 but I'm not sure it includes the special "canted" pylon necessary for the F-15 due the the size of the rear fins of the missile. Cheers!

Possibly yes. I suggest to try run as admin. Cheers!

I am trying to think why this is happening on your machine. Does the user that the exe is running under have the proper permissions to write back to the user folders? I would suggest to try "Run as Administrator" Hope this helps you...

You can create multiple accounts so long as you supply different emails for each. Cheers!

You can edit the file serverSettings.lua located in the folder: C:\Users\[user Name]\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta_server\Config\ Here is an example of the DCS ISRAEL Description: cfg = { ["description"] = "Israeli community\ \ Website: www.preflight.us\ \ discord: https://discord.gg/c4NKxvJ\ ", Cheers!

Yes it is still in effect. If you attempt to log in the account on more than 2 sessions the account will be force logged out on all the sessions. Since you don't need to purchase any DLC (terrains) for running the Dedicated Server what you should do is create an account specifically just for the server and use this newly created account to run the server and to access the WebGUI of the dedicated server. Cheers!

In my experience turning on in the settings both the Integrity Check (enabling the models check & the textures check) and enabling the "Allow server to take screenshots" does enough to both detect and deter cheaters. Hope this helps you. Cheers!

Israeli SA342M's and also HOT variant would be great for the Israeli side! We have players in the community that can man them and obviously it would be very nice in general to have an armed helicopter for the Blue side. The Ka-50s worked great with what I see was brilliant coordination with the ground commanders on CA! The strategy of providing the Ka-50s a relatively safe environment just South of Tiberias by covering them not only with the migs controlling the sky above them but also very smart use of pushing the mobile IR SAMS units right behind the red tanks that rounded the Sea of Galilee from the South of Tiberias. The mobile IR SAMS severely harassed all our low flying jets trying to hunt down the 2x Ka-50 that were plinking away with Vikhr AT missiles at our Merkava tanks virtually unopposed. Good fight reds, well deserved win! See you all next time :) Cheers!

Hi Alpenwolf, sorry for delay in response, been some crazy days for us with our holidays and just normal real life preoccupations with family and work. It looks good for this Saturday Oct 3rd for quite a few of us to attend, so we will trickle into the server at around the start time and cooperate with the guys that will already be there. Please don't make any special allocations for us. We would just like to participate with everybody as we normally do in all your cold war missions which are all brilliant and capturing. PM sent for setting up a specific date and venue regarding what we discussed earlier. Cheers :)

Hi, the IAF will not be able to participate this Thursday (tomorrow) due to a scheduling conflict, but as Alpenwolf wrote the mission will be hosted, so please do not reserve any slots on the blue side for IAF. Cheers!
