  1. I was thinking of sacrificing “disengage hold for all” for ‘trim reset’ in my 4 way hat since Alt hold and Att hold can each be disengaged by reselecting them, if I am not wrong.
  2. Am I right to say that for the current laser Hellfires, the 'sight' can only be the TADS since lasing is involved when firing is involved? I mean HMD as 'sight' is only meaningful for guns and rockets right?
  3. My sentiments too. Awaiting a SME's answer
  4. No it won't because your physical stick in its centered position is the sim's stick in the last trim position. Hence pressing FTR in that instance is essentially repeating the previous trim - the x and diamond in the controls indicator will not move - nothing happens.
  5. I'm using my throttle's 4-way hat (L/R) as the anti-torque rudder. From the controls indicator, I can see it acts just like a fix wing's trimmer hat. I basically just tap L/R on the hat to move the white diamond where I want it to be. The white diamond does not recenter like in a fix wing when I let go of the hat switch. So I am thinking I should select 'pedal without springs' in the Special options and that the other 2 options don't matter. But in flight, I find the 'pedal without springs' behaves like the central position trimmer. Ok maybe that is correct in the sense that the trim 'x' position (controls indicator) is superfluous - just catching up to reflect what is already in a trimmed position state. But with instant trim, I get that compounding effect. Is that correct? Thanks
  6. Active Pause, briefing, George menu, kneeboard, 4 views, power levers, radio, etc have keyboard commands and require the Modifier. I think it's probably those causing it.
  7. Crosswind Pedals: Controls - Unmap the L/R Rudder mapping (for the Pilot and CP/G) and use it for something else. Axis Assign - Assign rudder axis to your Crosswinds. OpenTrack: It should be detected by DCS in the Axis Assign option for Head Tracker (in pitch, roll, up/down, left right, yaw and head fwd/aft). You may need to start OpenTrack first before starting DCS so that it gets detected and shows up in Axis Assign. Cheers!
  8. Thanks. I find having the modifier on the throttle slew button frees all fingers on my right hand for where the fast action is. Just make sure to unassign the slew axes. Seems left center finger slew is common these days but I always find the right thumb (on stick) offers better fine control. Someone pointed me to the Delta Sim analog thumbstick modification to replace the default slew piece on the Warthog. Some may want to consider that if they are into tinkering
  9. At the moment, it's... Cyclic pitch and roll: Dead zone 3, Curve 15 Collective: Dead zone 3, Curve 20 (it's a jet's throttle, figured I need a more gradual input) Power lever (slider): None
  10. You can have a look at my mapping here.
  11. Just finished my Apache profile for the Warthog Hotas. You can download it here if you like.
  12. Now that the Apache is out… For the best single player experience, would it make more sense to just fly as CPG (except for start-ups) ?
  13. Hoping to keep this thread warm as I'll be using the Warthog HOTAS for the Apache as well. I know there are other posts such as this but I hope to focus on the Warthog here. As for the power lever, Wags said here that he pretty much leaves it at FLY unless for a training situation or an engine out. I plan on using the slider on the Warthog throttle base for this. My only experience with the Apache was Jane's Longbow2, and that was so long ago. Learning and mapping the AH-64D when it comes out is going to keep me busy!
  14. JSOW-A sounds like a great stand-off weapon to bring along until you use it. It's terrible in the amount of damage it does to SAM sites in DCS (forget tanks). Using the C/Broach version is better in that it gets at least some confirmed kills. According to military.com... The AGM-154A or “Baseline” configuration carries 145 BLU-97 sub munitions and is used to attack fixed and relocatable soft targets such as parked and revetment aircraft, trucks, armored personnel carriers and surface-to-air missile sites.
  15. I have not tried mode switches but wouldn’t a modifier (shifted state) be better?
  16. I was thinking the same. From the looks of the current Deka manual, it would be best if they could assign another more suited for the job of documentation. It's not an easy task. Or perhaps they could just review and adopt Chuck's Guide as official and pay him.
  17. In Nevada, I get BARCAPs in the opposite direction of the conflict. Like hello! the fighting's over there!
  18. Not that I recall, it's not necessary in DCS if so. But both Chuck's and Heatblur's manuals give instructions on how to focus the LANTIRN but do not state that it's not implemented (unless I missed it somewhere). Anyway, just needed to find out as I was learning the RIO controls and mapping my Hotas.
  19. Thanks. The manual seems to suggest that we are suppose to hold the slider aft while moving S4 HAT fwd/back. But that would require flexible fingers in the real LANTIRN stick (left thumb on slider, index on S4 HAT). Am I reading it wrong? Anyway, whether I hold the slider in aft position or not, nothing happens.
  20. Coming from modern jets, the F14 needs a bit of adjustment. I was getting confused too. The way I understand it, the ladder's centre line moves with the aircraft's pitching. It's not a horizon line. Where the small 'wings' (referred to as "aircraft reticle" in Chuck's guide) point at any time on the ladder is where the aircraft's longitudinal axis/nose is pointing in relation to horizontal. So if the wings are at say -30deg on the ladder, you are pitching 30deg down in relation to horizontal. If at +90deg, you are nose up vertical. When the wings coincide with the ladder's centre line, you are horizontal (not with the horizon, just level). Nothing to do with the VV or FPM. You can test this in external view. Example of autopilot alt level flight (no vertical velocity) for current config (FPM at 5deg, 'wings' above centre line, HUD in landing mode).
  21. Just a quick check, is LANTIRN focus control implemented? Heatblur's manual (extract below, underlined parts) explains how it is done but nothing happens when I try it. "Sliding the switch aft momentarily allows selection of used laser code, while sliding it aft and holding allows for focus control. When set to laser code change, the right four-way hat selects digit to change with left/right and increases and decreases the selected digit with up/down. In focus control up/down increases and decreases focus."
  22. Thanks for the insight. Hadn't thought of that. I can appreciate the complexities with 2 pits. Out of curiosity/discussion - I fly only SP. When playing as human RIO, doesn't the AI pilot's VDI basically repeat the RIO's LANTIRN? And if so, could the LANTIRN slewing, at least when as human RIO in SP active pause, not work like in other single pit fighters?
