Who cares. If a fighter can do Mach 1.5 or 2.0. My radar can see you from 70 miles or 100 with satellite info and my missiles can track and blow you outta the sky, what difference does speed make to the intercept point? Close in dog fighting is past. You cannot see your opponent anyway for more than a few seconds and if you do you will probably be dead in short order. It will be shooting at dots on your hud. With modern technology dog fighting with older generation fighters is a death trap. Do you think a Mig 21 or a F4 would stand a chance against a generation 5 aircraft coming at each other from 100 miles apart? The new missile will get the older fighters before they would even know they were being tracked. Point being the older systems assure more close in fighting due to their inferior capabilities. I really cannot imagine modern fighters getting within 20 miles of each other without both having let loose a salvo of missiles. 2400mph closing speed....ya cannot visually see your opponent. Especially if you are in the clouds. Being the best fighter pilot(Top Gun) does not make a difference at 20 miles. The best radar, fastest missiles and the quickest trigger finger wins. If you find yourself in a close-in dog fight in modern times....your equipment let you down. LOL. BVR fighting is boring. WW2 was the best. Imho.

I built my first machine thinking Edge and NTTR would be out in 2-3 months. Second machine to get faster video cards. Third machine to again since many months passed get the current video cards thinking....gotta be soon now. Counting Chickens....LOL I have and will be waiting until Edge is released...as the specs as I have read will take advantage of multi gpu's. I know from reading these posts that many enjoy the sim as it is and do not mind beta repairing after updates. I do not want to be a beta tester...however I have purchased several beta products from ED. I will settle for a build that is stable (not perfect....I have worked with software development, retired from Hewlett Packard mostly R&D...) that has Edge and a different map and the current aircraft, current with the release of Edge. As I read the posts here it has been pointed out that Edge, maps and perhaps other aircraft may be here by the end of the year. 7(?) months ago I built a system with 2 780's...it came to around 3000 and change. Search my previous posts and see where I asked here for advice on selecting the parts. I had just finished another system targeted at this sim. It also sits waiting for Edge. I have a third that is set up for 3-d..using NVidia glasses. I have posted here about that system....could never get it to work correctly....as several others here also had problems with theirs. It also now sits. It has some version of A-10 as I recall. My pit is about 65% finished...dual purpose...rotor and fixed. It is too difficult to change settings to match the updates with the amount of accessories I have....thus I wait for a stable build that has all the features I want and probably will be a few builds old but patched and as I hope relatively stable. I have resorted to flying RC. Mig29, Su35, FW190 and my latest the ME109. I have photos if anyone is interested. Lazduc

Here is a subset of the information I have read....the rest of the information I have read is right here on this forum. This page was last modified on 28 November 2013 at 14:48. WIKI Eagle Dynamics is a software company founded by the Russian Igor Tishin in 1991. Based in Moscow the company develops flight simulators and Oracle-based products. One of the company's core businesses is information systems and databases development. For more than 10 years we have been dealing with different aspects of this business: development of small local systems of different purpose, databases for web-servers, client-server information systems. The main direction of our business is corporate client -server information systems development. These systems are intended for computerization of companies and enterprises activity. In our developments we use standards, technologies and the most modern ORACLE products. We are a long-time, reliable and respected partner of ORACLE corporation. The right management is a key success factor of any project. We use two main directions of software management: •Administrative management •Technical management Administrative management Definite tasks such as communication, work distribution, time planning and resource management are to be solved in the process of each software development project. Special staff solves these tasks with the help of a standard software set: MS Project, TeamManager, Exсel, OutLook, Access, etc. Gant Charts for Flanker project Gant Charts for Flanker project http://web.archive.org/web/20080504075903im_/http://www.eagle.ru/eagle_pics/m001.gif Technical management For complex and efficient solutions in software creation we use products of Rational Rose family. These products contain modern object-oriented development technologies. With their help we split up the problem into separate components, model links between various modules, generate a visual model of the program, etc. Eagle Dynamics is a Russian company which develops combat flight simulations for public entertainment but also has seperate releases for military training. So....from this I gleaned my thoughts. My opinions... Lazduc

I have been a supporter of DCS/Lockon/SSI-Flanker since the beginning. I have invested thousands toward this hobby. I have about 5000 in equipment sitting, targeted at DCS that I have never used as I have been waiting for a stable release. I have purchased all but CA. I have mentioned this before. I do not want to spend hours trouble shooting software. I know that most of this software is beta versions and somewhat excuses the problems...but I do not want to be a tester... Thus I wait for a stable build. I have one system that I have Lockon Platium installed on which I enjoy and runs well. My concern is this: With the current build of 1.2.10xxxxx which has a number of problems and was released to coincide with the Mig-21 and I assume was integrated with the old engine and tweets for the Mig, what is going to happen with the new engine...Edge? (I also noted that a serious number of old bugs have not been addressed.) I was informed that Edge has nothing to do with the Aircraft and only with the terrain. But then I noticed that, that is not true. This leads me to believe that its a ways off before we see Edge compatible with the current build of aircraft. And I must bring up the MAPS as the information I have read leads me to believe there are still a number of problems with Edge and Nevada Map. I have also read that ED has around 200 plus employees. I also read that there main industry is Database Management. DCS is a side line and probably has a very limited program-hours support directed at this side. It is no wonder that it takes the time it does to support the DCS titles. I wonder how large the DCS flight sim community is??? I wonder what it would take to interest more folks in this???? I would like to see ED enlarging their programing pool for DCS for the obvious reasons. I've read the posts on Vietnam...and Korea and other areas that would be ideal areas for this sim...and also read the tremendous effort to program a module with all the various components folks here have listed.... We as a community need to generate more interest in this hobby. Look at Star Citizen and the money they have generated.... Adding CA to DCS was an attempt to attract more to this title. But I see with a small core of programmers, it stretched this core to the point of delivering software like we just witnessed with the latest release of 1.2.10xx. I am glad we have the third parties. Its unfortunate that the attempts to raise money failed in the manner they did with certain projects. I for one would gladly invest in ED/DCS in a fund raiser. :D Lazduc

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
lazduc replied to Milene's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Arguing about flight modeling is like arguing about scuba diving with persons that have never participated in the real thing. How can you say this particular modeling is very accurate to the real thing when you have no basis to compare. Sure, some flight characteristics are simply modeled and are apparent. Some flight modeling is more smooth, but to say that this or that is very close to the real thing is unrealistic. As close to reality in flight modeling is as close to the mathematical formulas that identify those forces acting on the various flight surfaces rendered by the most accurate programmer's abilities to match the visual with the math. Does this match or compare to the real thing...hardly. Its simulation. I am satisfied with both FC types and the DCS simulators as they address different tastes. I am not writing about system modeling. -
How close is this: NTTR---Planned after 2.0 sometime after Oct/Nov. 2014 Normandy--sometime after May 2015. Undisclosed one----sometime after May 2015. ?

Flagrum, Thanks for the info. I have the new computer waiting in the wings to load, finally, all the modules I have purchased in the past.
-
Still unsure what 2.0 is??? Is it Edge or just an update for DCS world??

Got it. Laz

Thank you.....Appreciate your links. Big lists of "In the future attractions". I, like others have built new systems to match the vague information of what the new Graphics Engine will require....hope it will be before the 880's are released as I purchased 2-780's 7 months ago and am waiting until the new Edge release to load up the new system. I cannot keep up with all the updates, modules, aircraft, maps, Edge, 1.2.8, 1.2.9, 1.3.0, .......etc. Can someone piece together, what is coming with what and when, and what you need for that particular "what and when". I have purchased almost everything..except combined arms. I purchased the FW190.... Wag says the F86 will be out with 1.2.9....somehow think I read they are going to skip that and go to 1.3.0.........or something and then Edge will need to be available for some of the aircraft.....errrrr what the ...... Can someone sort this out and post a list with the new coming aircraft and what requirements are needed and who is releasing them......is ED releasing all the modules(aircraft) even though they were developed by a third party? I cannot tell who is doing what and when.... All the teasers and screen shots of things "just around the corner" is making me dizzy. Please I do not want to read a bunch of " Itta be redy whn itsa dun", from those whose major contributions consist of such...... I believe I have read that several aircraft and upgrades(??????) will be coming this month and next.......unless that has been changed....like I mentioned it is difficult to sift through the pages of innuendo and hype to actually comprehend the dis-jointed information. By the time the Mods have tried to instill a moment of sanity in posts, folks then chime in with their words of "Wit" and you forget what you were reading about since the information has been reorganized into a vortex of time wasting rhetoric. :music_whistling: ( I do appreciate some of the humor.) I await your lists. :book: Lazduc :D

Sith, explain. Sith, I have read that one module has some finishing code and integration to Edge that needed to be done. So if the aircraft modules are not dependent when ported over to edge what do you mean? I guess that the aircraft modules can easily (?) fit into the old engine without any tweaks?? Or they are independent of the maps?? Or do the aircraft modules need to be custom coded for the underline software engine.('s) From reading I have the impression that Edge will contribute to the overall image rendering which includes the aircraft. Overlaying the aircraft modules over a map or terrain map with one resolution and then the aircraft rendered with another engine without some mutual handshaking seems very difficult...:book: I am not a flight sim programmer or dev, just unfamiliar with this. :D Laz

I purchased two copies of one title accidently. ED reimbursed me the 49.00 almost immediately.....Thank you for the excellent customer service.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: :D Lazduc

I decided to purchase the FW190 and then I also purchased the Huey.....but while doing the purchase I did not notice I had already bought the Beta of the Huey. I purchased both titles.....is the copy of the Huey I just bought the released final version or did I screw up and now have two beta versions? Reason I was unsure of my purchases, as I have not installed any of my purchases (I have all titles from ED). I am waiting for Edge and the new map of Nevada. I have a new computer (virgin) with nothing on it planned only for DCS and my flight cockpit. :D   Laz

I will get both simply because for the next rounds they (Developers) will move on to the next (hopefully) generation of jets....Vietnam era....please.

XFire (Not AMD CROSSFIRE)
lazduc replied to ZQuickSilverZ's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The catch 22. In a different post I stated I was tired of waiting and wanted to fly as I had not installed any of my DCS software on my new computer since it would require Edge to run correctly...I was encouraged to just install it on my other computer and have fun.....LOL...my other computer has a cross fire installation....will keep waiting as my new computer slowly turns into a poor substitute for a newer game console. -
XFire (Not AMD CROSSFIRE)
lazduc replied to ZQuickSilverZ's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Whoaaa, Ya mean that any computer with xfire set up for its video will not run DCS World? The machine I was going to go ahead and install all my ED software on has two cards in x fire......glad I waited if this is true. -
Thanks for the info. Lazduc

If I load DCS and a few modules on one computer can I move them all too another computer? Or if I load DCS and the modules I have not installed before on to another computer and then try and install one or two of the modules I have already installed, is this possible. I would like to install all the modules but if I then uninstall all of them can I then install them on a new computer....or do I have to repurchase? I have waited over a year or more waiting for a stable build and install all the modules I have purchased....but knowing that I have to install them on a older machine and finally fly them.....because I do not want to install anything on the new machine until Edge comes out....and Edge will take advantage of my dual 780's and I do not want to fight with anything on the new system. So I will therefore have installed all my software on two different machines. How can I do this and not lose my installations?? I just purchased another module. With the new FW190 soon to be released how will this effect this??? Lazduc :D

Great to hear of the planned release of the FW 190....wonder if ED plans on releasing their Edge software and Nevada map to coincide with this??? If they do I will finally finish my new/older computer and load all the software to take advantage of this....computer is set up for advanced graphics....two 780's in sli. :D  I have finished my RC FW190 to join my SU35 and my Mig29. Course its raining here in the NW Wash. Lazduc
