  1. Very strange...I tried looking at: "For anyone curious, here is the F-15C video at 60 FPS.. " by Glowing_Amraam.....and my computer crashed. I also had a large stutter and video crash which recovered when I went to the new DCS Site. Everything else is OK. I have never had this happen. Are these two events/related...in that they are trying to change my screen resolutions???? Or change some graphic settings???? Laz
  2. When you get these....I will bring the beer and pizza. Gotta have some kind of horsepower to run those. I read one ad that has a single 120" screen curved...projection based. 4 large say, 65" led panels will set up back some. Do not know which solution would be best. Depends on the environment your pit is in.
  3. When DCS2/NTTR is released ( May?) it will be an alpha version...so what is the estimation on the beta and then final released version? Note I say estimation. Has it been 4 years in development? Will this version be compatible with Win 10 and DX12? What versions of Win is DCS2 targeted at?
  4. April...any news on 2.0 release I know its beating a old topic....just wondering if anyone has heard of the release date/time of 2.0 (Edge). Is it going to be a beta....or alpha release? I would think that when its released that it will still be a few months of testing before a stable build. Understandable. I am going to add to my fleet of FX and Xplane. Also I want to get into a few other sims that look like fun. I am going to wait before adding any more aircraft to DCS as I do not want to get into a update, repair...etc for each plane and equipment to be compatible with 2.0. :D I am also working on my pit....what are you doing while waiting for 2.0?? :D
  5. I was taught to very rarely use my brakes. Larger heaver aircraft and some particular types need braking. Yes you can turn starboard using the rudder control if equipped with steerable tail wheel. Taxing twins is a different animal. Steering is done with differential power. On the Beech D-18 braking was decided by who wanted to .....LOL Brakes had a shuttle that allowed only one seat to have braking. Transition from taxing to roll out and take off require a balance of the forces acting on the aircraft. Its also dependent on a number of other factors....cross wind, temp, tires, surface...in a real aircraft...you get a feel for everything....in this sim it will just take practice. Taking off in a cross wind on one wheel is not uncommon.
  6. 80% of my flight time is in tail draggers. Cessna 180, 140, Beech D-18, DC-3 I learned to fly in and around Reno, NV. Mountains and wind. I remember I took a few lessons in San Diego and the flight instructor said she could always tell a tail dragger pilot, we were flying a 152 which is a tricycle type. She said she could not move the rudder since I had such a foot lock on the rudders. LOL Yes its mostly rudder....don't want to use brakes...
  7. I responded to Matt's post about the new 70% off sale on Steam. I commented that I prefer to use E-Shop as I read posts in the past about problems with Steam modules conflicting with modules purchased in Eshop. Some have problems......some don't. I read where the problems have been solved to some extent.... I do not use Steam. I believe if I lived in an area where it was difficult to purchase titles, then using Steam would be an option. But if you live in an area where your internet connection is slow or erratic then that becomes a problem as you must be connected to Steam to use your software purchased through them. I personally do not want another layer of software just to play games. It adds more personal infringement than its worth to me. I will wait until the E-Shop has their sale. :D
  8. I will comment more on chit chat. Laz
  9. I have purchased everything I have from DCS EShop. I do not want to purchase from Steam....seems like modules from both do not mix well. I have two more aircraft I want to purchase....I will wait for the sale at DCS EShop. Laz
  10. When will the Mig29 get the PFD? Laz
  11. I have lost or over wrote several of my thumb drives. I am going to have to download ALL and the modules I have purchased. I have never loaded or run anything beyond FC2 (thought it was FC3) and several boxed versions. I am going to purchase two 16GB thumb drives.....will these two drives hold everything I will download......any guesses how long this will take? I have high speed internet. I just measured it and got 2.3 meg per minute and that is from Vanvouver Wa to New York. Laz
  12. I have purchased most of the modules. After reading a lot of posts I decided long time ago not to fly any or for that matter load DCS world. I only fly Lock-on FC3 and the Boxed versions I have been able to purchase. I would like to know which modules are in Beta, (or Alpha) and which modules are released versions...finished versions...no big bugs. I do not want to participate in the beta or alpha testing....I just want to enjoy the finished modules. I read where folks are having difficulty with the patches that update the updater that patch the patch that updates the latest patch that updates the updater. This is all before the release of Edge....and Edge will be in alpha or beta when released??? See my confusion... Just curious if any of the latest modules other than the ones specific to FC3 can be loaded into FC3....as I understand the latest modules are all programmed to the old engine. Would it be possible to load the Vietnam Mod into FC3? Looking forward to Edge and hope that it is fairly well polished and usable without a ton of repairs, updates, updater updates and ...... Looking forward to the European map. Thanks to all who contribute to this project. :D Laz
  13. Thanks, and thank you for yours. Lazduc USN Nav Intel RVN '64-'66
  14. I have a SU-35 and the PakFa T-50 radio controlled jets. There is probably more info about these aircraft now then there was in the development stages of earlier aircraft....probably due to the internet and leaked info.
  15. After reading the arma threads on this....seems like the solution is to install the Win 10 upgrade which is free...
  16. I remember all the rave reviews and everyone saying how great this TM warthag was. Then they started to brick....I waited a year and then purchased one set. The instructions were to reflash both units immediately. I did this....and out of caution and reading many posts I put the TM warthag into the closet where it sits....never used it other than flashing it. 450.00 dollars just sitting there...what a waste. I purchased a X55 that I use. I will never purchase flight sim equipment with a price over 200.00 from any mfg. since they all are cheaply made. In todays market there isn't anything called quality or quality control....its called, TTAF, time to average failure. If their target is for 6% failure after 6 months and then market share drops because of bad publicity it is still in their profit margin to not fix any defects. They will not reengineer anything if the product is still in the profit margin. This is all calculated into the initial cost analysis. What that failure rate is determined by is a combination of failure analysis, market share, publicity, stock price and consumer confidence. This in most cases is not a engineering decision. Marketing hype and advertising departments have more control over the product than any other department. They have the magic but misguided authority to order initial product specifications...and changes and recommendations. They don't care if a product is well built, they are the ones who argue with engineering to keep the cost margins down even though their ideas will cause numerous problems........just as long as the product reaches the TTAF. They look at numbers. Its not a fine line either. There are manufactures who's Boards and staff actually do care but they are difficult to find.
  17. Someone who is well versed in programming gaming projects like DCS please answer this for me. The aircraft that have been developed so far...will they take advantage of the advanced characteristics of directX 11 and 12? I guess the coding for Edge/2.0 will be current with this?? What I cannot understand is how something that is coded previously, able to integrate into a current version that has hooks into current development? It seems that the aircraft that have been developed up to now are running on the old engine. So when the new engine comes wont there be some issues? I know that Edge is a image generator....so does it generate the aircraft? I mean don't objects have to be coded to take advantage of this? I have read that some items will not be able to take advantage of Edge. Just curious...
  18. Several countries are currently flying strikes into their respective enemy airspace. They are flying F-16 and F-18 types and probably others but One may conclude that releasing any information on your aircraft abilities would be detrimental.
  19. Yes, you will see an increase.....how much depends on a lot of other components in your system. Google E8600 vs Q9300.
  20. Hegykc, I am also interested in what cad program you are using.
  21. Sahaj, What are the sizes and how much.....and shipping to the US??
  22. Anyone care to guess when they release the alpha will it be possible to see if two video cards vs one will matter or will that feature/component not be in that release??? I know a lot of members are curious about the hardware to run this. Matt had a single card afaik.
  23. Saitek force, Saitek PRO Flight X-65F Combat Control System was not very successful. 400.00 for the Warthog controller and another 600.00 for this add on .....lots of money for just a joystick with force.....think I would rather have a force feedback type of controller. imho
  24. What is the price of this Black Mamba? Will amazon carry it?
  25. Korea then Vietnam. Mideast/Med/ Africa. If Europe campaign map is developed large enough (WWII) then there should be a lot of overlap to cover from France to Russia. If a campaign map covers the Pacific then it would cover both Korea and Vietnam area. All we need then is the appropriate aircraft. I would also like to see more development teams join to develop more aircraft and more MAPS. Does anyone know how large ED's programming team is that is only focused on DCS ?
