Maverick Steer Point Targeting without TGP?
Mud replied to AngryViper.101's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Yes, the AGM-65 should look at whatever the SPI is when set to PRE? mode. -
This has gotten me baffled as well. I have sees other people reporting just that. I general I find with the boom, you just get in position and the boom operator does the rest. With the basket, being in position alone is just not enough yet.
-
Yeah, practice practice practice. I can refuel quite easily in the Viper, Hornet and Hog, but the F-14A especially I stuggle with. At some point I thought I'd never get it. But never give up, just stop as soon as you get frustrated and take a break. For me, it really helps telling Jester to shut his mouth while doing it as well

Anyone been able to manage to find/modify it already? @BIGNEWY Could you bring this thread to the attention of the benevolent forces? It's a real bummer that a destroyed vehicle only burns for a fraction of the time it would in real. I do understand too many burning vehicles would have a detremental impact on performance, but giving us the choice to set this, or pointing out where we could modify it ourselves, would be very much appreciated. Worst case scenario: I guess it's reverting to triggers on every vehicle with fire/smoke effects upon death. Br, Mud

I did not read through the whole thread, so not sure if it's been mentioned already: An initial camera position for the role selection screen at the start of a mission. At the moment it seems to be random or linked to a certain unit. It would be great to be able to select a specific point and perhaps camera direction.

While I would not at all mind having it as an option in the settings, I guess it would cause a backlash of requests for all other possible things which could be made option-able. So I would already be happy enough with just knowing where to modify the value currently. Assuming/hoping it's not hard-coded now and out of our reach.
-
When strafing an area with multiple targets, the short burn/smoke times make it sometimes hard to distinguish between already destroyed and active vehicles. I wish ED would let us know where we can modify it, or even add a slider to set the desired burn time in the settings.
-
In reality at least ,it should track moving targets I believe as it locks on to a contrast. To be honest I have never tried this in DCS however

A big reason why the Linux user-base is so small, is because of the lack of game support for the OS. If games were equally supported by both, those numbers would be looking mighty different. I personally would have moved to Linux 100% after Windows 7 if I would not need Windows for gaming. I prefer to have control over my OS, and not have a company decide for me what features I need enabled and which not.
-
For the record: the F-16 does not have an APU, but uses a JFS (Jet Fuel Starter)
-
I'm also trying to figure out how to accomplish long smoke times for vehicles. Have you already found a way to do this @dresoccer4?
-
I can see the 9 o clock position of the VVI with my left eye in VR. When I need to see more, I just lean in or left slightly. Perhaps adding an overlay like the controls overlay for people who have trouble seeing the VVI could work.
-
Thanks shagrat. I know how to do that and had already set up a radio broadcasting "Grossdeutscher Rundfunk". Just was not sure whether or not the same was required for airfields at the moment for direction finding.
-
Do airfields transmit by default for the direction finder, or do you need to manually put a unit down at a given airfield to achieve this?
-
Indeed. This is also mentionned by Greg in this video.
-
Mind you, that the reason the VVI was invented as far as I know, was because humans cannot feel slight, steady increases in ascent or descent.

cannot reproduce Elevator trim sensitivity/overall control sensitivity
Mud replied to TacticalOni's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thank you so much for this, Scoobie! This has been brought up by several people in the past as well, for all WW2 aircraft. The increments from a single tap on the trim hat are just too much to finely trim out the aircrafts. If only I had known earlier what a simple modification it is to add your own, more fine increments. Forever grateful, Mud -
I have the feeling this thread has moved beyond the scope of what I had initially reported. In general I think the internal sound is great. However that looping tone which is present, and exactly the same in the Viggen and the F-14A (I don't think it's present in the B) is the only gripe I have. If you listen to the audio file I linked in my original post, it should be pretty clear what I am talking about.
-
No, more like repetetive, humming tones which loop. If you listen to this file in your DCS folder you'll surely notice it: DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\F14\Sounds\Effects\Aircrafts\Engines\Overhauled\F14_Engine_Int_TF30_01.wav
-
I made this post in the hopes to create awareness of it, or at least check if other people notice it as well. That same sound loop has been present in the Viggen since its release. I did seach, but could not find it being mentionned/reported before on the forums. I assume most people don't notice it.
-
Anyone else find the repetetive musical tone kind of annoying in the engine sounds? It's hard to describe, but you can hear it in this file: DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\F14\Sounds\Effects\Aircrafts\Engines\Overhauled\F14_Engine_Int_TF30_01.wav It's like three tones going from low to high. The Viggen has the same thing, and once I pay attention to it, it just drives me nuts Br, Mud

How to properly add a custom squadron to logbook in 2.7
Mud replied to Mud's topic in Mission Editor
Appears to be possible again now the way it's always been, in 2.7.0.5118. \DCS World\Scripts\Database\Troops folder with all the countries is back. -
Seems like we have some (perhaps all) of it back now in 2.7.0.5118 as at least the \DCS World\Scripts\Database\Troops folder with all the countries is back.
-
Yeah, I was also looking for the \Scripts\Database\Troops\usa.lua as my squadron has vanished from the logbook now. I really hope ED will give us the ability to modify this again via the Saves Games folder then. Mud
