  3. Well I messed with my settings so much across the 3 versions I forgot where I started, but no issue as can tweek it all again. So here's a comparison on my machine, with all the versions settings the same (or close as dammit) I actually am starting to think my 1.5 is in dire need of a complete reinstall. The poor thing has been through so many updates and things its probably a bit tired or messed in the head. :lol: or its those blasted little yacht models. Anyway, settings and msi afterburner thingy's below along with a video. 1.5 / pre alpha release / 2.1 alpha , in that order.

  5. What happened with me the first few times was the 'activation pop up window' was coming up, but it was behind the dcs splash screen you get when your start the game. No amount of alt tabbing helped. So if you havent activated yet maybe that is it? If you have ignore the above and below. I used Skatezilla's app to activate the normandy and asset pack then when back into the game and it loaded ok, slower than normal but ok.
  6. re Ram, I'll just leave this here. buy the most for the cheapest price. Those quick checks I did were free flight and only a minute or 2 long, maybe with continued play with things getting busy it tries to load more and thats where stutters come from? Dunno, Im no pc guru. Edit, my 980ti Asus strix oc is a 6gb card, and it had no problem.
  7. Agree, I am quite happy to see the gpu loaded. Thats what its there for anyway. I just ran 1.5/2.1/Pre release alpha. Again settings not identical but interesting, the cpu loading on the pre alpha much higher than 2.1. Again for me the 2.1 runs like butter, it does seem to be ram hungry though so maybe thats what is causing some stutters on machines with less. ram is cheap these days lads ;)
  8. 2560x1440 g-synch Heres something interesting, maybe someone else can check. I ran the updated v2.1 then loaded v1.5 Both similar settings, not 100% identical but look at the gpu load between the 2, Normandy gives me more frames but uses the full gpu, 1.5 not so much and much less gpu. edit: settings, not apples with apples but where the 2 versions are. 1.5 on the top 2.1 on the bottom.
  9. I have a 980ti and a 1080ti, both run normandy fine, something else at play here? edit: L39 tree tops from Caen Carpiquet, overfly Caen and to the coast. 1080ti
  10. Took the Viggen for a flip as it wasnt available in the prior release. A number of issues with light reflections, overlays over switches if at certain angles to the sun. Early days still with WIP however, Worst for me is still the wind setting which affect all models. Got a supersonic AJS 37 flying at 35 degree angles in a 25 kt wind close to the deck?
  11. I'll need to check when I get home, but with my settings they were more prominent from higher up, the closer you get to the water they seem to disappear a bit and that glassy effect comes back. Need at least 20+ knts of wind if not more from memory.

  13. I made a quick little flip with the USS Samuel Chase sailing past the estuary near Caen. As I overflew the ship something caught my eye and went for a closer look. A solitary white seagull flying around :) Looked cool.
  14. If its just the instal (programs files bit) I have done it before without issue. You just need to point the launcher or shortcut to the new directory. You will still have some dcs files on the c: drive in saved games folder. Thats all your personal settings and missions and stuff. I just left that there. Safe way. Copy your dcs instal folder to the new drive. Rename your existing dcs folder to something else. Edit the shortcut to point to the new dcs instal on the new drive and test. If it works then all good and you can remove the original on the c drive.
  15. I only ever flew it offline. The puff clouds were clearly visible in the rain vid I posted here which was published 8 May where I was trying to figure out a decent thunderstorm setting as the default seemed poor. Other issues raised were the weird effects close to the sea level in heavy seas that affect cockpits. Wind, current modelling requires wind speeds that seem excessive to break the glass effect of the water, went as far as to suggest a sea state setting independent of wind. If not possible 15-20kts seems more reasonable. Mirrors also seemed over-saturated My humble little list for the alpha :) Overall I think its a pretty cracking map, love flying around in it.

Nice video Oesau, :thumbup: I do note it is marked as unlisted in youtube,,, share the love bro! :smilewink: Question for those in the know,,, will the current Normandy alpha 'early access' release that some of us have been enjoying simply be updated through the updater with other bits and bobs/tweeks, or will it be a completely new download? Been away for a bit so just trying to manage my bandwidth allocation to suite. Thanks.   20. Bonjour The maps most 'populated' northern parts seem to be Le Havre and a bit east to Rouen. Most of the detail is south of that in France.
  21. Thank you Maybe I missed the 'alarm state red' bit. Also dial down their skill to make them a bit more trigger happy. I was looking at it counter intuitively to how you describe it. I am actually trying to test 'masking' or more so, ability to hide even if they have fired. Thank you, appreciate the input and will give it a go. Really new at this ME stuff :thumbup:
  22. Hi Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but if anyone can advise or direct me in the right direction, thank you in advance. Simple scenario. 1 blue plane 1 ground aa asset. I have set up a plane or helicopter to fly over a specific area, and a AA asset like a strela as ai I had the sterla set to weps free in mission editor on on like expert level. That's pretty much all, and they seem to miss or need me to fly pretty much right near them give them some impetus to fire.. Now I know this is not the way things work from flying loads of missions and stuff, but I am knew to trying to create these simple scenarios in the mission editor. If anyone can define the parameters required for a very hostile ai ground AA unit, or point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. Im doing my head in here. Sorry, I am a real noob with the mission editor. thx V

  24. Could really do with some '40's toys/hardware. I tried to lay Caen to waste but a few hundred cruise missiles from offshore reduced my machine to a slide show first. :)
