  1. Just out of curiosity, please state it again. I'm not in anyway joining this argument by the way :) f-16? f-18?
  2. I also agree that the editing is crap, and the hud is fake. But you can't argue with that crisp clear footage.
  3. That's it really, I'm not sure how long it's been around but I've never seen it. I just thought a lot of you would like to check it out. There are a bunch of other nice HD videos also, they all look and sound so great. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/musicandvideo/hdvideo/contentshowcase.aspx
  4. Fighterops is definitely not dead, though the forums are a little slow. There are also montly screenshot updates with many different types of aircraft, buildings, and vehicles. Those are recent up to febuary of this year. There's a message saying there wont be any update for this month due to development priorities, so they are surely up to something. Below is a link to the screenshot area. I can't wait for another great sim :) http://www.fighterops.com/screenshots/Public_SSPlayer/Models_Public2005/Models_Public2005.html
  5. Given the current state of the BVR situation for the f-15, I tend to run 4 120's and 4 aim9's. I will almost certainly end up getting in close and have to have make an of angle shot at some point. Given that the 120 is as bad close in as it is from a far, I can't justify carrying 8 of them. Now if the BVR ablitly of the eagle and the 120 was better, I'd go 6 120's to 2 aim9's. Aside from the VERY short range of the 9, for me it's quite a reliable missle. ... of course all of this is based on the in game performance...
  6. Well actually I'm a prior USAF avionics tech. I've had 2 incentive flights, 1 in an f-15E and the other in an f-16D. I've pulled 9G's+ in the F-16D a handful of times, and 7.5G's in the 15 a good bunch of times. During the F-16D flight I was in control for 1 of our 2 max G turns.... what a very exhilarating thing that was. I did experience some graying around the edges of my vision during that. Talk about a bumpy and violent ride. On the first max G turn I was trying to look out the canopy to catch the vapors and watch the wings shake (damn near strained my neck trying to do that). For the turn when I was in control I learned my lesson and planted my head back while I was pulling… Oohh man did I pull like I was trying to break the side stick. Even in the F-15E for my first flight in a fighter I handled everything very well. I recall the pilot stated he was very impressed afterwards. He was looking back and wishing we had a clean aircraft so he could "punish me" hehe....Anyways, I'm not knocking the guy for passing out, just his drive and the way he gives up. The first guy that passed out a bunch of times was funny as hell, but I commend him for trying to make it through each maneuver. So I'm not speaking in ignorance and I wish everyone could have that experience.
  7. What a freaking pansy, good God man... I respect the chubby guy in the first videos that passed out "12" times more then this one. He had his eyes closed through most of the flight. His performance in this video is disgusting... How many people would love to do this 1 time in their life, and he "girled" it away. Makes me sick... I can't even explain it.
  8. I happen to believe the Comanche still flies...... reguardless of what "they" say
  9. Hell yeah we CAN do it too!!! woooo!! No really though, I'm just glad to know it will have airshow displays. I did get to see it up close in the first public static display at an airshow a couple weeks ago at Dobbins ARB (where the lockheed plant is). I was a very awesome aircraft even on the ground. Has anyone else noticed how small of a stabliator input is needed to get pitch manouvers started? I seems that the F-18E/F is the same way, judgeing but it's displays I've seen. There seems to be way more "down" stabilator input to stop the pitch angle from increasing throught both aircraft displays.
  10. Slightly OT...... Shame they can free up the f-16's FLCS a little. Seems that if it could have more AoA athority it would give more hell then it already does.
  11. OT.... isn't it great seeing all the different tactics and mothods people use? It's all very interesting and entertaining.
  12. It's not even worth trying to track the whole distance. For me I find the best tactic in the f-15 is to run in high with radar on and sometimes music to attract some attention. Once you think you've got a taker, shut it all down and get in the weeds and hills. I'll pop up from time to time and try to get rwr spikes then head in that direction while still trying to stay in the valleys as much as possible (keeping head on a swivel). Normally this makes for a pretty level playing field when you get close enough to the bandit. The 15 driver still has to do some radar gymnastics but you get used to that part. I almost never get shot down like this without getting him too, normally I can get him though. Once you get used to the quick radar juggle at close range this becomes very effective. Right now I use the radar for bait, and try my hardest to make it a turning fight. Now if your over water or flat land that's another story... unload and turn tail, keep an eye on the stats.
  13. Technically LFS is still a beta version, it's not even close to finish yet as you already know. In the end it will be "the" race sim to have. My names, Turbo Love on there by the way :)
  14. Much better to hide in the hills and try to make a dogfight out of it then to keep running in head-on. Atleast this way it's (more-or-less) you against him, instead of your faulty equipment against his less faulty equipment. The other 2 options are turn tail and run, or unload your missles and pray for a hit.
  15. This is supposed to be the ideal launch situation, and how it was designed to be used. That's not a very valid excuse.
  16. Hmm, never heard this before, has it been confirmed or proven? I highly doubt this is true given the effectiveness of each comparatively speaking.
  17. www.liveforspeed.net Live for Speed, hands down the best race sim ever, multiplayer or otherwise. GtR 2 looks good but it's still the same old GTR. LFS, on the other hand, is constantly evolving and will be for some time to come. This is the greatest racing game to date, CHECK IT OUT!!!:D
  18. I did one time break my pointer finger, had to shoot a basketball and learn to dribble better with it. That was definitly hellish for a while, it sure made my game better though in the end. How about playstations, Xboxes and all other arcade games? All directional movements are made for the left hand, I've always thought that was backwards and strange. Anyways, this isn't my fight (or a fight at all) just trying to be a pain here really.... GGG87, I digress :) you guys have my support
  19. I'm no lefty but I can feel all your pains. Sounds like it would be a huge pain to deal with some things. GET USED TO IT!! RID THE WORLD OF ALL LEFTYS!!!! You darn basketball shooting, pool playing, baseball throwing, nice hand writing, strange hand wanking, bastards!!!! LOL... I'm just kidding guys, just seems like a funny matter to me. This is how I look at it, where ever you live you have to get used to what side the drivers seat is in your car. I personally, being from the US, would hate to have have to shift gears with my left hand in my car but I'd just have to deal with it.
  20. I'd say, GET USED TO IT!!! lol.... that what happens in real life piloting :)
  21. In real life you're correct, engine performance and airfoil performance will decrease, as the temp increases. All this is due to air becoming less dense when temperature and humiditly go up. Now whether this is calculated and simulated in the game, your guess is as good as mine. I've personally done some half-assed tests and found no difference in performance dependant on temp. That's my 8 cents...:D
  22. I've seen him around a few times, in the last couple months. He's definitely not around as much as he used to be.
  23. Good god you guys, You're still arguing over this??? Phew.... some of you are hell bent on disproving this thing, It is a REAL unedited picture.
  24. I find it hard to believe (if this was a chop) that he'd miss that "huge" area by the stinger...lol It's just the airshow smoke
