The mirrors in your second screenshot are 'off' they do not mirror anything. It's just a texture. If you're asking for the texture to be bare metal in appearance then it's being misunderstood in how you're asking for it at the moment. Mirrors off by default is an setting in the DCS graphics options, if you don't want to have to click it or action it each time. Hope that helps

It all works fine as before, including MR, if you revert to the previous methods for using OpenComposite. ie. not having a command line in the shortcut and then replacing the openvr_api.dll with the OpenComposite one https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR

Basically you need to have 'Always On' selected for MR, it's just that it's crashing the game at the moment. When a hotfix appears it's worth experimenting with though. It's buttery smooth but you'll need to see if the artifacts caused by it bother you or not. I tend to naturally filter them out after a little while and enjoy the smoothness

I'm pleased to see OpenXR being supported natively, I suspect it means we'll see better VR support as time goes on. I like using Motion Reprojection so shame to lose that in the short term but grateful overall to see progress on the VR front even if it comes with temporary teething issues.

Maverick has a real nice video on AAR in F-14 Fwiw I use bomb mode on the wings and align the fuelling pod with the right side of the cockpit grab rail (above the HUD) Like the others have said it's a fun thing to do, just needs some practice invested

OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)

Fwiw make sure you're wearing the headset when you use the keybinds. It wasn't showing in the mirror image on monitor for me at least -
Have a look at Supmua's settings on page 4, or his shared profile on page 3. That's how I got it working at least

When you say "corrected after running NVI" do you mean after making the single parameter change of Stereo Profile on or making the full five changes?

I trust you but I'm just not seeing it, with my setup at least. With MR off there's none of that MR 'sheen' that you get over some surfaces when it's on but when I turn my head while reading text it kind of blurs/ghosts a little as I do. Not offensively so but noticable. With MR on that text retains it's crispness throughout. I piggyback off @speed-of-heat's 3Dmigoto settings and his OXRT registry, everything looks great to me with MR on. There's a subtle sheen of MR artifact in the F-14 ACM panel buttons and when I fly through clouds but really the rest seems negligable to me. Of course I found the rotor blade issue absolutely horrendous but that's easily fixed by 3Dmigoto's apache rotor delete as you know. With the above and 2x MSAA I find myself able to read all the F-14 instruments without needing them in my sweetspot, it's really nice, so I don't feel like I'm lacking clarity with MR on. -

Might be placebo on my end but MR seems improved since I updated. Rotor blade distortion was less noticeable and bearable, interfering less with the IHADSS when looking through the blades. My preference is still the rotor delete in 3Dmigito but it seems improved to me. The smoothness of MR is still my go to, despite a few compromises like artifacting in clouds for example. I also find text clearer to read under motion with MR than without. Certainly worth any user experimenting with imo (not that I'm suggesting you're saying otherwise!) -
Thanks! Applied it and will give it a look, much appreciated

A bit off topic but would you mind sharing the rest of your OXRTK settings too? I've been finding your tweaks work really reliably for me so I trust them more than my own

Things have moved on recently. You now no longer need SteamVR for DCS. You can use OpenXR instead for several notable benefits, have a look the OpenXR quick start thread and tuning thread in this forum for some extra info. To answer your question though you can launch SteamVR then DCS and then put on your headset. There's ways to launch DCS from within SteamVR though if you want. It doesn't matter much.

Thanks for this, the Apache rotor delete has me back to using MR again and it's buttery goodness edit: and also thanks for all your comprehensive testing, super helpful

I don't think you're wrong but the thing with DCS I find challenging there is that settings which will net me 45fps in one environment will inevitably go lower in others, or higher and introduce more of that 3-9 line judder I'm trying to clear up a bit. For my circumstances I prefer it to be capped 45fps with enough overhead to keep it there over busier terrain or conditions. Really seems like there is of course no one size fits all solution for everyone, I've found it super valuable reading everyone's takes on things

I'm still (constantly) experimenting but I think I may have landed on something that suits me best. This is with a 3080ti and 12700K so I appreciate I'm pretty fortunate here but sharing in case anyone else with similar specs cares to try and finds it good for them 90hz OXRT 110% MSAA 2x RTSS 45fps cap Textures Medium Ground Textures Low Preload radius 80000 Shadows low The RTSS cap seems to add 9-10ms to the CPU frametime, that takes me into low 20s but tbh it feels smooth. I really liked the superior smoothness of MR, I'd use it more if it wasn't for the artifacting in the Apache blades. I thought I'd use MR for Tomcat flying but in testing I was all but certain I was seeing more shimmering in edges in the cockpit and more chromatic abberation in the peripheral on instruments. I can imagine going back to this as development continues. Locking at 45fps isn't the ideal, doesn't feel as smooth as MR but comes close to eliminating the judder in the 3-9 line. I did like edmuss' 60hz solution but on a user personal level I'm happier using 45fps and increasing my resolution to 110%, the clarity is worth it for me.

Firstly, thanks for all your posts. I've been digging around in here daily since I recently got a G2. Interested in some opinions on what I'm seeing here with the Apache re: frametimes MR on: 20ish fps, not nice, high frametimes MR off, no frame cap in RTSS: 50-60 fps, low teens on frametime, feels ok except for that common ghosting/judder in the 3-9 line or during fast turns that we're aware of. MR off, 45fps frame cap in RTSS: feels best out of the three but I'm curious as to why my frametimes sit above 20 in this instance? Regardless since option 3 feels best it's my go but I'm interested in understanding why frametimes sit that way. Conversely I have nice low frametimes in the F-14 when MR is on

fwiw using a G2 and OpenXR with a low alt test flight I see ghosting in the trees while I'm looking to the sides when reprojection is off. When repro on they go past much more smoothly, however there is of course some standard reprojection artifacts in other places and conditions to contend with. Personally I like it more with the reprojection on for fast jets and off for helicopters because of the effect it has on the rotors. If you haven't already I'd suggest trying OpenXR with PD 1.0 as per all the instructions and see if motion reprojection helps you.

Thanks so much for this, not entirely sure what I did but tweaking the sliders has made a huge improvement! Peripheral vision on instrument scans is way clearer. Much appreciated
