That's not it. I barely had any AOA on the aircraft. And when I neutralize the stick it still keeps rolling. I went ahead and made a quick video. I'm not able to reproduce it 100%, but I managed to do it on the first try. I tried a few more times after and couldn't get it. So you only need to watch the first 15-20 seconds or so.

Noticed a strange issue today while just flying around NTTR. I was messing around and flying straight and level and kicked in a bit of left rudder to watch what the yaw string did. As expected the nose yawed left and rolled slightly left. So I put in some right stick to keep it level. I went throttle idle and after a few seconds of the speed decreasing, the aircraft started suddenly rolling right. I managed to consistently reproduce, and the same issue happens with rudder. Here are the flight conditions and steps below. Not sure if this is an error or if this is correct behavior. Although to me, it seems like an error. Conditions: NTTR, 0530 local time, standard temp and pressure, F-14A, Roll SAS off, no weapons only 2 drop tanks, about 12,000lbs of fuel, altitude ranging from 6000-9000 ft MSL Here is how I managed to reproduce: 1) Fly straight and level to 375-400kts IAS 2) Kick in left or right rudder to get full ball deflection, and reduce throttle to idle 3) Add appropriate lateral stick to keep wings level 4) Once the speed decreases to around 350, the aircraft will begin to roll in the opposite direction abruptly If unable to reproduce, let me know and I'll record my screen and upload a video

Turn rate has tanked with new update
uhntissbaby111 replied to Hummingbird's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
When I’m flying in DCS and doing turns at various conditions to see what gives optimal performance, my default turn direction is left. Never thought why, it’s just the direction I naturally prefer to turn -
Turn rate has tanked with new update
uhntissbaby111 replied to Hummingbird's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I agree. As DCS has grown, more and more players have shown up looking for a war thunder type experience. I see more and more posts on Reddit asking what’s the most “competitive” plane for multiplayer. All they care about it racking up kills in PvP. Which is fine, ultimately it’s good to have a larger player base. The issue is if the developers start caving to their demands. If realism starts taking a backseat to “balance” and “gameplay.” Luckily I haven’t seen much of that happening. The ability for the F-16 to carry triple Mavs starts to walk that line though. And I see people complaining about long INS alignment times because it precludes them from getting back “in the action.” Or having to boresight Mavs. Luckily HB seems committed to 100% realism and Victory103 mirrors that commitment. Hopefully ED stays the course as well! -
You gotta remove the HUD camera, it’s easier to see then. And maybe move your viewpoint up just a tad. I do think Heatblur could make the string stand out a bit more. Currently I find it a bit difficult to see, it blends in with the nose a bit

Which leads me to a question I’ve had for a while. They extensively talked about buddy lasing in the book Black Aces High. And while reading I wondered how did the dropping aircraft know when to release? Since they don’t have anything designated they won’t get any release cues. Do they just eye ball it? Same with the hornet, or any aircraft that is dropping buddy lased bombs.

In regards to DCS not simulating missile fly out. What exactly is missile fly out? -
Option to have Jester make ball call?
uhntissbaby111 replied to uhntissbaby111's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yeah I saw that! Now I can put that trim hat push button on the F14 stick to use. I’d still like to see an option to have Jester do it -
I’ve been watching the upcoming SC previews and one thing of concern is the ball call. It looks cumbersome to have to be getting the aircraft lined up and keeping it on glide path, while using the keyboard to make the ball call. Since in RL it was the RIO doing the comms, is there any way that HB could give us the option to have jester automatically make the ball call?

Does anyone know if this interview was/will be uploaded to YouTube or something?

Flat spin and heading out to sea.

...it’s a movie. Lighten up Francis -
Just to clarify, the missile doesn’t do the scan pattern or does it just not show up on the HUD?
-
Turn the HUD off, don’t even bother with LDG mode. I fly all my approaches the HUD off and just use the gauges/AoA indexer. My flying got way smoother because of it

Hopefully he’ll correct me if I’m wrong. But I remember Victory saying that #2 is the way to go. And if I’m not mistaken, there was another F14 pilot that said the same thing. Don’t trim during the base turn. It’s the technique I use in the sim and it works great. I also think Victory said he liked to fly the turn slightly slow. Again, hopefully he corrects me if I’m wrong
-
Once I get it trimmed on downwind, I don’t touch trim again. If you adjust the trim on the base turn then you’ll have to return on final. Instead, just add a little aft stick and hold it manually, then once you get on final you won’t have to mess with the trim

After being away from my PC for a month I got home, updated DCS, and got into the F14. I immediately noticed that the FOV has decreased. Previously I was able to see the altimeters with my head centered, now I need to slightly look down. I asked around on discord and someone said that one of the recent updates changed the FOV? Or am I just going crazy?

Cat launch: aft stick halfway through stroke?
uhntissbaby111 replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Very interesting. I wonder if it’s the increase in airspeed that moves the elevators nose up? Although I feel like airspeed wouldn’t be able to overcome hydraulically powered flight controls -
Cat launch: aft stick halfway through stroke?
uhntissbaby111 replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
As the OP observed, I too observed during every F14 cat shot I’ve seen on YouTube that half way through the elevators deflect what looks like full nose up. The nose strut extension helping makes sense, however it seems like the pilots still deflected the stick aft during launch. If you deflect the stick aft in the HB F14 the nose will aggressively pitch up -
For real! It honestly doesn’t bother me one bit to not have a “modern” HUD. I have the analog gauges easily viewable and the HUD shows me everything I need for AA or AG engagements. And as for refueling, I find the F14 easier than the Hornet. I put the wings in bomb mode, get it trimmed out, and find it easy to connect and keep it there. The Hornet is a bit more sensitive to control inputs, I can make smaller and finer inputs with the Tomcat

Any update from one of the devs on whether they were able to reproduce?
