Somewhere in the lower left, but I was wrong... -

Possible, but there is really no precedence for ED doing this, especially if they display it in such a prominent place. -

I checked Norwegian Air Force bases along the coast (that was assuming you could see a runway in the lower left of the picture - which proved incorrect), but could not find any topography matching the screenshot. It´s not Cyprus or the Marianas and I‘d say there‘s no such spot on the Falkland Islands as well... -

The answer might be obvious to some, but while browsing the ED shop page I started to wonder where exactly the screenshot featuring coastlines, mountains, lakes (and clouds) might be located. I do not recognize it from any of the current or WIP maps. Perhaps the Falklands? -
Question about the NS 430 integration into the Gazelle
upupandaway replied to kotor633's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Hi guys, I was trying to get the NS430 to work in the latest OB, but it won‘t show up in any of the variant‘s cockpits: All boxes for the SA342 are checked under the „special“ tab in the options and the unit is set to „NS430 allow“ in the ME. I can open the 2D version and use it just fine at the same time. Other aircraft will show it properly in 3D with the same settings. I bet this is just me missing something, but could someone please help me? EDIT: Found the reason - oone has to install the new module first -
+1 for the Reverb on the SC. It's been like this for quite some time

DCS Causing SteamVR Fail | Description, evidence and how to replicate
upupandaway replied to Stal2k's topic in VR Bugs
+1, although it's not consistent. -
Thx. It´s an OC version of the 2080ti. I didn´t change anything myself there. I´ll look into the page file settings.

[RESOLVED]DCS always crashing. Logs included.
upupandaway replied to SKIPPY 7-7's topic in Game Crash
Hi! This also happens to me with both the latest 2 versions of the nvidia driver, flying in VR. However it only happens since the latest update of DCS OB. Logs are HERE -
Hi there, the issue I´m having since the last patch is similar, although I´m using VR: DCS freezes, the screen goes black and I get a message that the program has crashed. The error message reads the same as what you highlighted. This happened with the 2 latest version of the graphics driver. Best regards. dcs.log-20201001-204918.zip

I got a response today, offering me a refund. I replied that I would prefer to have the product, given that this is possible within a reasonable timeframe. Naive, I know...

+1 Been waiting since 07/2019 (EU order)

One of the first things I did was to google the numbers etc., but you can´t find it on shapeways. Feel free to try, but I guess the part is his intellectual property. It was also quite interesting to show the original piece to some real world engineers and people with 3d printing experience and what they had to say about the original design...
-
It took around four months and many attempts to contact Komodo plus some back and forth, but suddenly I got an email with a tracking number from shapeways in the Netherlands. After disassembly I can now say that the original 3d printed friction adjuster which broke is really not suited for its purpose and a definite design flaw. To anybody considering buying Komodo products (especially the base) I would highly recommend asking in advance about what kind of 3d printing process is being used on those load bearing parts. The product has a lot of potential, but the handling of such requests and the original quality issues are really not on par with what would expect at this price (and from basically any customer support). There may be reasons for this, but if those are not communicated, I cannot help it. Anyway, with the new part in place there seems to be no more awkward noise coming from the collective base.
-
What´s with the 2.5.6-title? That mislead me into thinking it might be included in the latest patch...
-
Some perspective on the whole quality issues that people are complaining about - during the last weeks and months I got to play a lot of CoD-Warzone with friends thanks to the whole corona-mess. You would expect things to go relatively smoothly there since there are some big names / experience and some big money behind it. The truth is that no other game has pissed me off as much with regard to bugs and glitches, and that´s in a AAA(?)-game which is being released to a far bigger community. Does anyone remember FO76...? I´m sure there are more examples... I´ve been on board this DCS-train for ten years now, since the A-10C beta, and even if there are issues that annoy me and there are things I still wish for, I have confidence that it is a much better product today and that issues with one partch are NOT what makes or breaks its future. We even survived the Kickstarter-mess from 2013 (or whenever that happened) - something I was reminded of the other day when I got my „free“ license key for the P-47. The key with DCS is that you have to think more towards the long term...

Broken in it is. ;) I asked another friend who has a different collective and he said the same thing. His unit was making less noise after a while. The clamp and the whole frame inside the base unit are all one big printed part as it seems.
-
Principally, it has been working well so far, but something already broke just the other day (after about 10hrs of very moderate use). The thread of the screw damaged the (printed) plastic clamp inside the collective base which regualtes the friction. When you peek inside the case you can clearly see that this specific part is just not beefy enough to sustain any forces and it lacks material in key areas. I was very careful (after initially seeing that it´s all printed) and I´m not a ham-fisted guy - I´ve played musical instruments for more than 30 years... I am having the very same problem, plus the squeaking. It either drops right down after you let go or it´s impossible to move smoothly. He is certainly taking his time with those things. Your comments aren´t really giving me a good feeling about this. My grip has a dual throttle and one of the grips had a crack in it from day one. I guess you could glue it somehow if need be. That one doesn´t worry me much though, but I agree that the choice of materials is not appropriate in some areas or they should have been designed differently. You wouldn´t expect 3D-printed gears / cogwheels to last very long for the very same reasons. I have so far and hope I will continue to do so, thank you. If I have to open it up and jerry-rig it I don´t really mind, but it seems to me more and more that it´s simply not worth that kind of money. Nevertheless, I appreciate you sharing your experiences and maybe this helps other people in making an informed choice. Of all the peripherals I have used over the last 10 years none ever broke, not even partially - until now... Once I have an "official" response, I might post about it. I wonder how many other people are using his / their products. EDIT: After all that criticism, I still think that you are right in saying that it is beautiful. It has a lot of unused potential.

Good to hear. I ordered mine last year too and haven´t heard from him since then.

Hi guys, is there anybody here who has some (long term) experience with Komodo Simulations products? I recently received a helicopter collective bundle from them and although it is an overall very nice product, I am a little worried as to the build quality and durability. Nearly all the plastic parts are printed which is generally ok, but I think this is the reason why the friction clamp makes awful squeaking noises whenever the collective lever is being moved. Does anybody have any experience with this kind of problem and perhaps some sort of simple remedy? Cheers!

Hi, today I noticed a folder named Su-34 (...\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\CoreMods\aircraft) in the OB directory. Perhaps I missed some obscure announcement...? Someone else must have noticed this.

Brunner Force Feedback Joystick Base
upupandaway replied to Mozart's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I can´t see anything wrong at first glance. Once the base is connected you should be able to enter the profile manager and adjust your settings or create new profiles. Have you selected the correct profile for DCS? Basically, you should be able to switch between profiles even when DCS is running. Has CLS2Sim found you DCS installation? I had to install the release branch for this to would work (as I´m usually on the OB), but maybe that´s fixed now.
