...in case there is anything to report. +1

I shall focus on the enjoyment of distributing MiG-spare parts with the F-5 instead.

After flying the Gazelle for a while it pretty much became my favourite helo or perhaps overall module, but I´m still flying it mostly to bridge the time until the BO-105 is released. Great work guys and keep up the great work!

Great news here. The details sound like they might actually require a lot of calculations just for one single plane, but very exciting nonetheless. The progress on DCS is very promising.

1.5.4 Performance
upupandaway replied to wilbur81's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I have noticed a significant difference in FPS between 2.x and the latest 1.5.4 release while using VR. It actually feels uncomfortable like this. 1.5.4 and 2.x settings are identical. I tried pixel density 1.0 and 1.5 in 1.5.4 (beta). 1.0 was slightly better, but generally with both settings FPS are very low and there is noticeable choppiness. 2.x is smooth sailing as long as you stay away from the strip. Don´t know what it was like before with previous versions in VR, but in my experience 1.5.x usually had better FPS than 2.x with identical settings. -
Are you using VR Headset (Oculus Rift, Vive, etc) in DCS?
upupandaway replied to Kuky's topic in Virtual Reality
Got the Rift today. Amazing little piece of tech. My signature says it all... -
Yeah, I guess you could do an "easy" implementation for static weather where humidity is also static, perhaps varying according to altitude, but where it gets interesting is when you couple this dynamic with the existant weather system. One could think of localized ground fog that can develop if conditions allow or other visible weather effects. So far, temperatures don´t ven change in the dynamic weather system. Last time I checked, if you set up a mission in Nevada @ 4:00 am with 10°C, it will be 10°C at 1:00 pm as well, regardless of the weather. It´s probably not worth the effort to do all this just for vapor effects. If any "real" humidity component was or is implemented / in development, it would have to be in the changelogs somewhere. I usually read them top to bottom, but can´t recall seeing anything related. Sobek, could you please clarify. I´m sorry if it´s something too obvious that I´m asking for, but I really missed the whole humidity manifestation within DCS.

I know this has occasionally been brought up in the past, but afaik humidity has never been part of the weather engine. What exactly is the aferomentioned "humidty factor" (in DCS specifically, I know about its role IRL)? EDIT: Found this. First time I hear of humidity and its impact on the FM. When did this change?

So, now the 190 D-9 can take dditional amno...

Lovely, great to see this feature has made it into the sim now  Thumbs up ED! -
To my knowledge, there are many (if not all) types of HE-ammunition that will explode after a set time. You can also observe this on more modern (post WWII) AAA like the Shilka. The most recent development are shells which can be programmed to detonate after a certain time / distance travelled, depending on the range to the target.

Didn´t Sith say it was "super duper close"?! I´m hoping for something this weekend. it would certainly be nice to try out a new Hawk EFM.

Ich finde, dass es für einen ersten Flug in DCS nicht schlecht gelaufen ist - gemessen z. B. daran, wie oft ich das Ding selber schon in den Graben gefahren habe... ;)

Great Engine Sound - best from all DCS
upupandaway replied to SVK_UVi's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
The impression I get is that the 190D9 sounds quite fierce in DCS, but not as dirty as in the 2 samples below. Love that sound: But maybe they are just too old and worn and the sound quality is bad, too... Diveplane´s mod comes very close - I like it -
Huge FPS drop in 2.0 when Mig-21 are close to each other
upupandaway replied to agentkgb's topic in Performance
Can confirm this problem for MP. As soon as a MiG-21 spawned next to me on the server, I went from stable FPS to a still image and DCS crashed yout 30sec later. -
There was something, a snippet of intel, and now it´s gone?! Nice to know something´s apparaently still in the tube...

Can you see well the targets with the 1.5?
upupandaway replied to pepin1234's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
Two of them fairly quickly, the last one on the right took a while. You have a point, spotting appears a little harder in 1.5. However, I personally don't experience it as impossible. You could argue that out there in good ol' nature, there are shrubberies, single trees, rocks and what not, that would allow a tank to blend in more into its surroundings, making it harder to detect. In DCS the Caucasus map (especially up until 1.2.x) has very flat and even surfacses, that make any vehicle stand out quite a bit by default. Also, afaik, tanks are often camouflaged with nets, branches etc., which is not reflected in DCS. This would make them even harder to detect. So, unless they are on the move in an open field, they should not stand out as prominently as they do in the RL picture in the OP. What the ground texture does, is to compensate for the "inadequacy" of the visual representation in DCS. Spotting a large tank column moving over an open field is actually quite easy in DCS. -
That might work, but until a new AI-system is implemented in 2.x, I'd say that a reasonable advice is to mostly ignore the ATC. ;)

Does a FFB controller make a HUGE difference ?...
upupandaway replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Many people dislike the Logitech G940. I have never had any bigger issues with it during the last three years. Throttle and pedals had to be replaced though. The stick conveys very adequate feedback from control surfaces in props or the trim in helicopters. Wouldn't want to miss it. -
I´m a little surprised about your request. No offense, but you say you are familiar with software development and I see that you have been on board here as long as I have. Surely, you must have noticed that ED has improved significantly in the PR-department over the years and that, additionally, they have provided us with everything that was promised/announced and more. I kinda understand your request, but I´m still very happy finally flying around in Nevada. A lot is still WIP, but major milestones have been reached. This actually makes me more confident. Cheers!
