There's a server mentioned at another thread - Just Dogfight. Includes modern combat and ww2 modules.

Roger! My preferred Server right now! Excellent missions !!! I just need a PC upgd to properly play DCS 2 + Normandy.
-
Ok, just noticed this is, after all, "Operation Blue Flag"...
-
Hey KKK ;-) I guess you had a diferente ID there ? Well, I keep mine - jcomm, the Uninstaller :-)
-
Ok, I've sent a PM.

Well, DCS World correctly calculates Moon Ephemeris based on date/time, and you can open the mission editor and set a particular date, and time, and observe the Moon but... .) The Moon is depicted in the sky just when it is at quarter or greater illuminated area; .) The angular diameter of the Moon represented in DCS is quite inferior to that of the Sun, contrarily to RW; So, I believe it will not be possible to observe an eclipse since: 1) The Moon should be near the New Phase, and hence not represented in the Sky; 2) Even if it was represented, it's angular diameter being smaller than that of the Sun would not allow for the Sun to be obscured;

Wow! That makes two of us Noface :-) I'm a 53 yo boy who plays DCS, mostly... We have to arrange for an online session - I am now on v 2.1.1 - Normandy, and haven't loaded 1.5 since I installed this great Map. Também Português :-)

I've been using this server mostly since I bought Normandy. Is there a Server site ? Can you provide the URL, please ? Thx !

 I am SO GLAD I decided to buy Normandy... It can be heavy on my old rig ( i5 2500 + gtx 960 4 GB ), specially in the recently released Campaign, and evn at some online MP servers with lot's of objects, but even that way it is smooth enough for good play, I couldn't get back to the Caucasus Map, although I will for sure return as soon as it get's upgraded to 2.0. Then, the unique representation of the Spit IX, well, make my days as a simmer :-) Another very nice surprise was to notice how better object identification is in 2.1.1, at least in the Normandy Map. Overall, a very satisfied customer ( again... )

Unable to land the Spitfire; any tips?
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Jamesp1's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
All excellent hints, specially the 1st - that's what I do every time I fly a new glider irl... I memorize the relative position of the glareshield / other reference to the horizon, and use that as a guiding cue when landing. In the DCS Spitfire it was basilar to get good landings. Then I started increasing the window ( x-wind ) near ground, and setting a more & more pronounced crosswind component, and practicing landings under x-wind up to 9 m/s ( aprox 18 knot ) Strangely the Spitfire is actually easier to land, in the Normandy map which is the one I mainly use now, in a strong x-wind than I expected. If you uncrab just before touching down, it stays very well, without much vices. But! if you touch down in only one wheel ( left or right ), or at more than 100 mph you're up to a big bounce, and from there on ... you're up for trouble... Another surprise was to find out that, again in the Normandi airfields, the Spitfires is actually a lot easier for me to land in a wheeler than either the Bf 109 K-4 or the TF 51... -
Epsom Spitfire IX Campaign Activations...
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in Payment and Activation
Yes, thx - I had just noticed that too ... Just looked in my account details, and indeed 1 out of 3 activations spent, so, it's a feature and not a bug :-) -
Hi, today I bought the just release Epsom Campaign. I pushed the DCS World v2.1.1 Alpha update, then played for a while on the Quickstart missions, and decided to install the Campaign. It fetched the Campaign files, and I proceeded to see if it was under teh Campaigns menu - and ther it was. I ddn't start it though, and went to Multiplayer to play for a while online 1st... When later I decided to start the Campiagn, DCS asked for the activation, I pasted the code - a fresh one ! - and was issued with - 2 Activations left ??? Wasn't it supposed to be 9 since I never installed it before ?
-
Looks really nice !
-
I'm all for that! Bring some really typical / representative civilian, or even cargo aircraft.... And a glider !!!!!
-
Yes, and it makes sense because in Nevada you have the additional effect of the air density due to altitude...

Anyway, I just would like to add that now that I own Normandy I can't stop flying in it. My modules, less the UH-1H, are ww2, so, Normandy is the right place to fly, but I believe I find differences in aircraft behaviour between the two versions of DCS and between the Caucasus and the Normandy maps. It's easier to taxi in the Normandy airfields, but also easier to takeoff and land. This could be placebo effects caused by the amazing experience brought to me by v2 and Normandy - WOW! - but I believe it might also be due to some updates having been already poured into v2 aircraft modules as well as due to the modified terrain drag coefficients associated to the type of runways and taxiways in that Map ( ? )

Normandy Cold Start instant action mission
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to mx22's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Or.. edit the mission under the "Quickstart" folder and change the weather settings :-) -
The best way is to practice taking off in the 109 with the tailwheel unlocked... Then all other aircraft will be very easy :-) Of course in the Spitfire you do not have to ( actually probably shouldn't at all ... ) use differential braking during the takeoff run. I bought Normandy yesterday, and was positively surprised to find out the Spitfire and the 109 are easier to taxi and takeoff from Normandy airfields. For a start, they are usually a lot wider too :-)

Unable to land the Spitfire; any tips?
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Jamesp1's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
And, it could be me, but just bought Normandy, installed it, went testing the Spitfire on landing and takeoff, and I can even perform a wheeler landing on it now! Also noticed some fine tuning of the rudder authority - might be lacebo effect though ... -
Are the Assets required to play at MP servers ?
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
 Just got the Bundle! BTW: Is there a fast way to import the controller settings from my 1.5 Open Beta into 2.1.1 Open Alfa ? NOTE: yes there is :-) - simply copy the folders under "C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input" into the same location under "C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha" -

Trim changing for non-FFB joystics
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Yo-Yo's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Well, and since I o not own an FFB joystick, and I really regret it :-/, all I can say is that DCS's approach ( Yo-Yo's implementation of this feature ) is indeed the one that feels better / more realistic to me. -
Unable to land the Spitfire; any tips?
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Jamesp1's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
This! Plus, it isn't hard to perform wheeler landings in the P51d and Tf51 in DCS World. There are many videos of players doing it in YouTube. It's just a question of practice. Mine often ended like the P51 in that movie though, until I started learning how to do it :-) In the Spitfire I don't think they're recommended though, in the sim and irl...
