"Sound Radar" ? What are you talking about Phill ?
-
Hey Pedro! That was after I hit you with my 109 :-) Jokes apart, stutters are really plaguing 1.5.8 and 2.2 with the latest updates. While in my old rig FPS can stay in Normandy up to 60+ fps, sometimes even 80+, I see a lot of stutters when looking sideways. And I am getting kicked off of pretty much every MP sessions :-( An update is due for sure - let's wait...
-
The bug also affects the 109 - but it's a bit useless IMO to talk about it at this moment since Danmage Model is about to suffer a major update, and we are lucky that the first series to get it are going to be the WW2 modules. Let's wait a bit more - ED has always given us good reason to wait :-)

Epsom/Charnwood and DCS: World 2.2
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Bunyap's topic in Spitfire LF Mk. IX Operation Epsom Campaign
For me 2.2 made this EXCELLENT Campaign Playable and a true Charm ! Before I had such low performance overall that I had given up on it. Finally going through, very calmly :-) Thx ! -
Just an additional thought regarding this announcement, as well as the recent ED / Belsimtek announcement of the upcoming Yak-52... For those of you claiming that those of us who want to experience the closest to real feel of this kind of aircraft can get it from presently available Civil Flightsims, please point me to which one(s) you're referring to ? I've been using flight simulators since 1987, and never really liked anything about Air Combat, of any sort, but ended up using DCS because it's the closest I can get to the feel of flying high performance aircraft. While I owned some jets, my hangar is presently composed only of ww2 airbirds and the uh-1h - again because nothing can be compared to DCS when it comes to rotary wing, unless we leave the game spectrum and transit into products like ELITE, FRASCA,... So, having these sort of aircraft available in DCS is great for me, and I believe, great for the whole DCS community because we can bring more users, which turns into income for developers, which will eventually result in further development that I am sure will only contribute to make DCS even a better Flight Simulation platform.

Apart from overall performance increase in my rather old i5 2500, some new effects ( explosions! ), sounds update ported from 1.5.8 and also fine tunning at least of the Spitfire rudder, I can now play the Epsom Campaign with fps 40+, where I used to get down to single digit! Really glad with this update! DCS / ED

My Christmas in as far as Flight Simulation goes is here !!!! Christen Eagle plus the announced Yak-52 ! What else could I ask for ?
-
This has always happened since initial release, at least to me :-) The Spitfire, the 109 even the 51d can loose their wings in a pull... Only the 190 is tougher.
-
Latest 1.5.8 update not only changed the Spitfire a bi deal ( rudder forces and ground handling is fine tuned ) but I am also among those who thing there's something changed in the 109 K-4 too, for the better... I am still testing... And, no mention of the Spitfire updates was listed in the features list for this 1.5.8 update, so, it wouldn't surprise me there can also be "new things" in the 109...

Yep Art-J, indeed, and looking fowd to see it ported into 2.1 too :-)

Taming the spitfire with pedals
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Kiwispirits's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Indeed, for this sort of flght simulation games, Track-Ir and a rudder control system were my best peripheral buys ever... I couldn't play DCS or IL2 Battle of without it... It's also good for Condor. -
Really !!!! ? Have to try it
-
And the Me-109 too !!! ED Rulezzzzzzz
-
The Yak-52 is used by at least one local aerobatics team around here... I'll be eager to try it myself in the sim, and even more to show it to the guys who fly the two Yak's themselves :-) Being a shared cockpit model this means we can bring a lot of additional emotion to our virtual aerobatic flights! Looking fwd into it !

Here's what I'll be up to when I get it :-)

Unable to land the Spitfire; any tips?
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Jamesp1's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Hey Ron, I just edited my post, just in case you thought it was intended as a critic to you :-) - quite on the contrary, since it was meant to show stratman59 your post was actually, and as usual, written with humor... I made clear that "frustrated" applies, in my own case, to the fact that I was for ages waiting for the kind of realism DCS ww2 modules finally brought me... And... I hope you're the same Ron Attwood from good old AVSIM, just as I am the same "jcomm" there :-) - if this is not the case, then my sincere appologies :-/ -

Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Jamesp1's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Don't missinterpret Ron - he's a very good-humored guy and I see his "exclamation" on that other post as a joke only. Then, he's ( just like me ... ) one of those "frustrated" (*) MSFS / P3D users who took years to finally be able to feel in their hands, as close as it is possible in a PC-based sim, the handling of a P51d, Spitfire, Bf 109 .... I believe for those old school simmers ( cough .. cough .. I'm one too ) getting our hands on DCS is unreal... and we can easily get out of our minds :-) ( I am still trying to get the best out of it, and fighting to fly the Spit and the 109 properly ... ) (*) Because unfortunately I couldn't find in MSFS anywhere near the kind of feel DCS prop aircraft give me... -
Since the DCS Spitfire was released in Early Beta, I've cama accross a few threads where the question of how "twitchy" it is on takeoff and landing and the way it relates to RL... I have posted this video link a few times at those threads, because I believe it perfectly portrays the kind of "dancing" the feet of a Spitfire IX do on takeoff and landing... Watch, carefully :-)
-
I've posted this video link a few times already. If you observe the "dance" on the rudder during takeoff and landing, you'll probably recognize how great the simulation we have in DCS World is...

@stratman59, just wanted to add to all of what the others already wrote that you could also try to edit FMOptions.lua as suggested in here by mkiii: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3263544&postcount=72

Thx Yo-Yo!
-
I guess that in Spitfire models with just one Radiator ( on the right wing ) less rudder would be required during the final stages of takeoff and inflight, due to the asymmetric drag compensating for the left yawing / banking tendencies, assuming a CW rotating prop ?
-
AH! Ok Art-J, I didn't notice he was referring to the trim gauge... thx for that. Good question regarding which one is correctly implemented. In IL2 BoS we read 0% trim when the needle is up, like during landing on your video. That's the reference I've been using for neutral pitch trim, also in DCS.
