My TIR went nutts...

Nope, and sometimes after a re-install it works for a while. There's at least one thread at the Naturalpoint forums describing same problem. Might be related to one of the Win 10 recent updates. One of these days I'll go MacOS for good, but then I'll lose DCS :-( -
After re-installing DCS World 2.5 latest beta, and after na initial session without problems, the 2nd time I started DCS my TIR 5 went nutts and totally refuses to work… Tried uninstall / reinstall, used the latest drivers, changed USB ports, but nothing appears to be working :-( Even without DCS working the TIR monitoring interface shows no movement, and actually not even the leds ( green ) turn on ( ? ) Any suggestions ?

It is realistic in as far as taxiing goes, at least in this last update. It appeared to be only a graphics quirk, but it's ok now too :-)

At least last night I couldn't find any online servers covering Normandy.

Last time I read the news about the Spitfire tailwheel they mentioned it was behaving rather hysterically, which appears to be solved with this last beta version, but I notice that no matter how tight I turn on ground, the tailwheel never swivels more than just a few degrees either side. Graphical quirk only most probably, because I can still turn tight using rudder and the brakes, but the tailwheel is sidesliping all of the time.

The Yak-52 calls for it all of the time. I'm not, and really don't plan to be, in VR, but I'm sure that for an aircraft like this it'll be a joy to play it in virtual aerobatic teams. At least I'll try a few flights at the online servers where from time to time players gather to train a few aerobatics :-) We've got two around these stops ( Portugal ), and I've been trying to fly in one of them for a while - maybe one of these days, and a chance to compare to the module I'll surely get for DCS...

I'd say "for sure!" It'll feel different. One of the strongest features of DCS is it's quality regarding reproduction of flight and systems characteristics of the RW counterparts of aircraft it models, so, at least regarding turn rates I am sure I'll feel the difference :-) -

I feel your pain Europa :-) I tried with the default Quick Mission - Final App. : .) Edited the Mission and set ammunition to 0%, and emptied the MW50, so, rear tank empty... .) Lowered gear and full flaps, and letting trimmed speed get a little bellow 200 km/h the best I could set was around -2.5 without having to push the stick... Well, I'll never know how close it's to the real deal, but ... I would say it's a bit tail heavy :-)

@Europa, perform a few tests. While we can't set the pilot weight, we can set the fuel weight, and also in the mission editor, empty the rear tank, where methanol or fuel can be filled. Do a few flights with: .) Full fuel + MW50 .) 50 % fuel + MW50 .) Full fuel without MW 50 .) 50% fuel without MW50 Then repeat for no ammunition vs full ammunition, but without bomb. Finally repeat for bomb, with and without full ammunition. Can you notice the trim changes ? How does it feel to you when you set no ammunition, no bomb, no MW50 and just 50% fuel ?

Well, just my 2 cents.... I have no authority to speak as an expert in the 109, but rather, 38 years flying gliders... I have experienced many different sorts of stall behaviour along the years, depending on glider model. The "mushing stall" ones are the trickier. One of that kind is the Grob Jean / Standard. In the Jeans, as in other gliders I've flown, the only signal you have of a stall is the slugginess of the controls, and of course the indications in the variometers... Other than that, and provided you're at safe altitude, you can continue maneuvering the glider well within it's "stalled regime". Other models like the AS-K21 so much used in training are so difficult to get into a spin that students think they're unspinable :-) Other, like the Mucha, are so tricky that you really must be careful in your circuits, because it'll go into spin and kill you in a minute if you forget to properly make your base leg turn... @Europa: So, your videos remind me a lot of some of these gliders and my RL experience flying them. Not saying I feel the 109 k-4 is a perfection, if not for other reason because - how could I tell anyway ? And BTW, I believe we all know about the ground adjustable trim tabs on the 109 K-4, introduced sometime ago in one of the v1 patches, but we also know about the ground adjustable elevator trim tab, present in the real 109s, but not in the DCS one...

The DCS developers aren't saying, just by saying many times, they're right in the way the pitch characteristics are modelled, they are presenting factual proof - charts ! If we look at those charts ( and I confess I was once one of those convinced there was something wrong ... ) we can't but understand and accept that what DCS is modelling is pretty much accurate and agrees with RW data. Don't forget that the forces used to push the stick at speeds bellow 500 km/h indicated aren't significant. It's certainly very light. Then, no other model of the 109 that I was able to use in any simulation including this aircraft is capable of modelling other details like tail surface authority, prop effects on ground at taxi speeds and power settings, etc... They either present excessive torque effects, or hysteric behaviour like some models I used in MSFS and X-Plane... I believe no one here has ever piloted a real Bf 109. The closest I could once get to that was through the kind answers Klaus Plaza cared to write me in a few exchanged messages. It was very clear to me from his words that indeed full fwd trim is used for takeoff, and this all bearing in mind that the modern 109s do not fly with their CoG displaced further aft due to the use of the MW tank.
