What's with the sound effects in your video Zeus? Everytime you rotate the knob, the echo sounds like a gun being fired in the distance or is that just me?

Although I agree with the statement, ED has said that CA needs more work and is in some sort of Alpha stage I believe. More urgent IMHO is the X-ray vision AI which makes any battle against the AI overly complicated.
-
CA is scheduled for a major overhaul but don't keep your hopes up. It'll be quite some time before CA gets upgraded, at the very least I expect it to be far away after the release of DCS2.0

How much work is it to shovel all the sh*t away if you make an announcement with stuff in it you can't uphold? LN wants to make sure that what they say makes sense and can be, within reason, be uphold. No use in getting the whole community in an uproar because you failed to keep promises or have released information you're not going to use/keep/get...

WE use a seperate PC with a pre-recorded message which plays continuously on one of the Aries radio frequencies using some nifty little construction. I have no idea which one, Ill need to ask the member who set it up.

Get the BO105 and Gazelle done first and then we'll look into the third one :) Good news all around, things are looking up for christmas!

VEAO dropped all the helicopters for the moment. Some group took over from them, so we'll have to wait for their announcement.

I hope LOTATC will be active... -
Lone wolf, blue side

If you press enter you will "lock" the target and the computer will compute a solution for you. Set crosshair over computed ballistic marker and press fire, hope for a hit, rinse and repeat until target is destroyed.

Looking for Flight Instructor and/or Virtual Squadron
Looney replied to pantaros's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Pantaros has joined the 132nd and is well on his way to become mission qualified. He passed IQT with flying colours so it's only a matter of time now :). -
HMA, I can make you one using this schematic: http://www.pdp-11.nl/viperpit/altimeter/altimeter.html It's relative low-cost, the mosfets are € 5,- per piece, the CD4047 something like 65 cents.. The transformer is the kicker at € 25,- or so. This one can go to 25W using the small heatsinks but up to 100W using large heatsinks on the FETs.

Is LOTATC installed now? -
Check the F2 view when flying at speed and note how close the two rotor discs are on the right side of your helicopter when facing it from the back (chase your helo). When flying at higher speeds, left turns are desirable over right hand turns as the two rotor discs are closer together at that side.
-
Where are you located?
-
You could try and join a virtual wing, like the 132nd. They have dedicated trainings and missions for KA50, UH1 and A10 pilots. See http://www.132virtualwing.org
-
Since it's a spot follower, can you buddy-lase with another KA-50 lasing a target and you firing the missile?
-
As far as I know, you'll need to open the door. For repair, you'll need to shut down the bird.

UltraMFCD - drag, resize and click display exports. Zero configuration.
Looney replied to Sgt_Baker's topic in DCS Modding
Just installed it and it looks great, at first glance, the FPS hit isn't that much but I'll need to look into it more. I don't like it that I'm unable to see my CTRL-ENTER control position window in the KA50, I tend to rely on that more than I should.... Credits where credit is due, I really like the software, it saves me the pain from getting a touchscreen or other display! -
The KA50 can fit them, I see no objection to the MI8 fitting them as well. That is, if it's coded in the MI8 to start with.
-
Well, that's sorted, good luck with the two projects!
-
Congrats on the appointment from ED and good luck with the rotors! Oh, and: :D

A bullseye call will look something like this: "Target X is at bullseye 315 for 14" What this means is that target X is located 315 FROM bullseye, range 14 nautical mile (usually, I don't know if this scales with setting in DCS for metric/imperial). I don't know if bullseye is in the Abris but don't think so. You can use the F10 map and look at the bullseye, from there, use the draw tool to move north-west (315 is the direction in degrees) and fourteen miles. That is the position of the target, you may want to note them down, the coordinates should be in the top-left part of the screen. Us e left ALT Y to toggle between lat/long, decimal, MGRS and X/Y grid, use decimal for correct PVI-800 coords. If you want to fly directly to your target, on the PVI-800 press: PVI master Mode -> EDIT Select PVI NAV TGT Select target point number Enter coords in decimal, press 0 before coords for north/east press ENTER PVI Master Mode -> OPER Next, press NAV TGT and the nmber you saved the coords to and follow the HUD directions to your target. Use the T_HEAD - Time/dis to view true heading, distance and time to the target point.

Congrats! Looking forward to the public release!
