No, that doesn't work with human controlled JTAC ingame. I'm a JTAC for my wing and can and will use the bino's ingame together with the F10 map and, if available, a GRG (Gridded Reference Graphics) map which I make myself, based on intel of the location where I will be performing my JTAC function. A sample of a GRG map can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xdyxauj8akz98bf/Dusheti%20100x100m%20mgrs%20rev2.pdf?dl=0 The map will allow for talk-ons using specific terrain features. We usually train talk-ons from Ingress Point, Hasty Key-hole positions and low-level pop-ups. For the last one we tend to use a smoke marker to get the A10 pilot on-target as quickly as possible. All-in-all, using unguided munitions and no TGP is a real challenge CAS-wise, both for the pilot and JTAC.

The datalink is nothing more then a spot on the ground, if you tell your WM to engage your datalink target you're basically telling him to engage a spot on the ground and any targets that happen to be there.

Yes, try making yorself a training mission without enemy vehicles and try it out yourself. Stay low, pop-up, hover, lock, launch, wait for impact, drop down again.

What is your setting of shadows?

From looking at the track, the first missile went miss because you were in a VRS state and descending rapidly 2nd missle missed alos, you were descending pretty fast. Third missle not sure, after that you got hit by an AT-5 and crashed, according to my replay..

JDAM GBU-38/31 envelope too restrictive.

Your source? -
Aside from manually entering the 6 first waypoints in your route into the PVI-800 and when you reach number 6, the following 6.... :)

DArt, the 132nd will conduct a precision approach radar procedural landing training with LotAtc. The aim is to see where we stand with regards to procedures and is both DCS and LotAtc are aligned properly. I also have a few questions and maybe even features for LotAtc. Can I send you the feedback from this training session? Will you be able to join perhaps? It's on our event calendar.

A civil aircraft usually carries a transponder set to a certain code, much like the IFF mode 3/A used by both the civilian and military. The code is assigned to you by the ATC. Military "transponders" have more modes available to them to distinguish them from (friendly) radars, amongst others. DArt, will the IDENT button be simulated as well within LotATC?

The action to assign a certain classification to a contact comes from a host of questions and sources such as speed, track, altitude (if a 3D contact solution is found), intel and disposition. I agree with Eddie, units setting a "false" IFF should show up as unknown and can be classified suspect of hostile for training purposes.

So, in following up on an old thread from 2013 where one has a nice overview of the trains running along certain tracks, I thought to do the same with DCS2.0 to see if there's a difference and try to get a complete picture of the whole train timetable thing. This is still WIP but you can help if you want to. What I did was the following: - Set civil traffic to low - Set date for june, 10:00 - Set one game master or tactical commander - Start mission - Use CTRL - F11 on the F10 map to enter the world as a camera - Move across the rails until you spot a train - Follow train with time compression (use mouse scroll wheel to set your speed) and when it stops or switches direction, note lat/long coordinates of tunring point and time. - Follow train back to other stop or switch point, note lat/long coords and time - Repeat a couple of times - Calculate time of travel - Find next train - Rinse and repeat. So my first flying over the map started in Tblisi and ended up near Suhkumi. Here's what I found:
Time of train, Lat/long 10:59, N42 12.133, E042 46.416 11:20, N42 09.981, E042 22.200 The above mentioned track is called Samtredia - Chognari/Kutaisi track by me.. Other track, not identified yet: 12;39, N42 17.033, E042 01.000 13:06, N42 27.983, E041 48.700 Travel time roughly 57 minutes 14:15, N42 28.000, E042 28.050 14:32, N42 38.833, E041 48.700 Travel time roughly 34 minutes 15:39, N42 43.250, E041 27.833 16:10, N42 53.983, E041 07.016 Travel time roughly 1:01 hours
By no means is this complete but it's a start. A wing mate checked on his system with his own made mission if he could find a train on the first mentioned position and he did timing was 1 minute of or so but I haven't fine-tuned it yet. If you have a dreary evening or nothing to do in general and want to help out, go into the game and go trainspotting :). I'll augment the list as I find more and more trains...

Post your running fans pics here!
Looney replied to Looney's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
We still have door gunners, lateral head movement so you can look down through the bulb canopy and mines to discuss :D -
Will an AI aircraft landing on an airfield make the lighting switch on? If so, perhaps having an aircraft prior to the player would allow the lighting to be switched on...

So, we got some good news today: DCS Mi-8MTV2 Added cockpit fans. So, without further adieu, please post your pics or videos of working Mi-8 cockpit fans in this thread to show your appreciation of such a small, but for us, highly important detail of the mighty eight! :pilotfly: :detective:

Campaign Mission 1 trigger not working
Looney replied to andqui's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Started the campaign fresh last night, did the first mission without a problem in 1.5.2 I'll do a couple more, I was going to do the mission where another helicopter crashed and you need to secure the crash-site but then 1.5.2 came :) -
A mission file will help....

Join a virtual squadron like the 132nd (I am part of it), check out http://www.132virtualwing.org for more information. They have a dedicated KA50 squadron, together with A10's and other virutal squadrons. We use JTACs, ATC and CA to enhance the immersion and work commonly and cooperatively with other organisation to tackle large complex missions.
-
Same as above, just make sure PVI-800 is not active and that the weapon system is reset.

Can't wait!

Hi DArt, Last night we noticed that one A10 and three KA50 (3rd wing) were not showing up in LOTATC. All other flights were picked up immediately after take-off but these flights were not. They were shoing on the F10 map in DCS. The A10 didn't show its name in DCS F10 map but once clicked, the information window in DCS at the bottom-left showed the relevant aircraft information. We'll keep monitoring the situation and when it happen again, I'll make some screenshots. If you need some kind of log file, please let me know and I'd be happy to forward it to you.

Excellent work Dart, very good news indeed.

IAS appears to be incorrect
Looney replied to NightMan's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
SU25 and 27 will always show 80km/h becausre they can't indicate anything below 80 km/h, only above. -
You'll need to buy the upgrade and hope DCS accepts it. Better is to buy BS2 instead as that will work out of the box upon activation.
