Radio menu in the centre monitor?
PiedDroit replied to Heli Shed's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
How many viewports are you using? The trick above is meant to work on 1 camera .lua (1 viewport spread across all 3 screens) If you're using 3 camera .lua (1 viewport per screen), it will be different, you'll to tweak it. P. S. : attach you monitor .lua file here I can have a look at it. -
AFAIK this was never implemented in older sims due to the insane amount of traffic it would generate. Still a good idea though

Radio menu in the centre monitor?
PiedDroit replied to Heli Shed's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Setting GUI in center is better, add this to your monitor .lua: You'll find this solution several times across the forum, this will put main menu, radio menu and MP menu in the center screen. No need to edit the radio menu pages ;) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143536 -
Ah yes right, I read it the other way

That doesn't sound like an argument against it, on the contrary. Wrong word? :D

I'm interested in it because this will make the game more enjoyable for solo/coop players. To me the new aircraft and different maps are just eye-candy (I over-simplify, please don't shoot) that is added on top of the game engine to make it prettier or more diverse, everything will be developed eventually (maps, aircraft) I have no doubt. But the engine core is what will carry the sim over the years, that's why it's the most important to develop. I hope this point of view will help you understand it better ;)

You've been kindly ask what you want most by the developer himself, there's no better time to voice your preference ;)

Dynamic campaign system for me as well.

You don't like blue?

The thing is there is no aircraft that will do exactly what the A-10 does, as all the aircraft are different, their capabilities overlap, they don't match exactly. For example for CAS, the SU-25 is a good match (weaponry, survivability) but is also faster and doesn't have the avionics. Some aircraft will do COIN as the A-10 can do but won't be as survivable (Super Tucano), but they have other advantages (cheaper). Some other aircraft will do precision bombing just as well (SU-34) but in the other hand will bring other capabilities (long range strike, speed) and other disavantages (less maneuverable slow and low, less survivable, more expensive etc). There is no good answer to your question I'm afraid

I think every squad is playing it for fun :D You need to define what "fun" is to you, in order to find the type of play that will suit you ;) Did you try online servers? It's a good start I think.

Well, no, the initial question was "is there anything Russian as good as the A-10? because SU-25 is Ehhh". Which clearly sounded like saying that A-10 rocked and was totally unmatched even by an aircraft specially designed for the same role. No wonder that a lot of people wanted to demonstrate the opposite. Trying to bury the debate by editing your initial post is kind of rude. If you don't like the discussion, call it a day and don't answer anymore but don't try to end it forcefully, people still want to add things and debate, this is not *your* thread

Maybe try with fixed radar beam, I can't think of anything different from 1.2.16 right now. At what range are you dropping - and which dive angle? When I did my tests I was dropping at range ~1.2km, dive around 30° with fixed beam, maybe it was too close to detect a problem. I'll try again with different parameters. You need to be steady on your attack run too, or the piper might become jumpy. I remember reading about that too, strange I can still hit something. Will do more tests
-
They also got the LASTE later, which included the PAC. Without it the gun was much less accurate (this might be one reason why they dropped the selectable rate of fire, not sure).
-
That's strange, I just made the bombing training (and then I stumbled on your post) I was happy with the sight, hitting everything consistenly, with bombs and guns, maybe you set your ASP incorrectly?

This is the best summary ever :megalol:

In terms of capabilities, they're pretty much similar, they can both take a lot of abuse, operate on rough fields and kill a lot stuff. The SU-25 does not have a gun as powerful as the A-10's but it can carry Vikhr for antitank or a sh*tload of rockets for soft targets . I don't see where the "Ehhh" is. Only thing lacking with the SU-25t modeled in DCS is better sensors and Avionics.

Wait, no, that's actually an interesting point of view. It just make us realize even more that it's a niche market and not so many people are interested in it. As a niche, prices are higher and this might make it a vicious circle, but since DCS engine is free and comes with free modules, it's a nice workaround. To the OP I can only say, either change the way he sees the game (to be able to enjoy it more, you must not expected BF4-stype gameplay, it's just too different) or switch to another type of sim more suited to his needs. Some stuff would be welcome to make it almost perfect though (dynamic campaign, where are you? :music_whistling:). All the modules (RU counterpart to F/A-18C, whatever) will come in due time I'm pretty sure.

In competitive environments you might prefer to take the top birds, but there's a lot of interesting things to do with the smaller aircraft. If you still play in multi, the added challenge is nice (see MiG-21Bis vs modern fighters). If you play coop multi or offline (PvE), a small attack aircraft will offer good scenarios, like counter insurgency, narcos hunting, etc. Of course an A-10C will do the job better, but the fun is also in accomplishing a mission with a limited set of tools at hand - in that regard, good mission / campaign system (as pointed out by Sryan) is what we should strive for. In the end, I'm interested in such aircraft only if they can double as COIN aircraft or if they have double seat for in-depth training (as Viersbovsky wrote).

As long as the environment (ground troops, missions, campaigns) are staying combat-oriented, I'm ok with any civil airframe being developed for DCS (won't buy) ;)
-
I kind of agree with you regarding highly classified airframes but you're pushing a bit too far otherwise. Don't blame people for wanting something else than what you want. People want trainers? Fine, let developers do it and make their living with it. And don't buy it ;) The modules you like are still being developed in the meantime.

That would be eye_shift, Dxview is angular difference (dxview is set to - 1, 0 and 1 in 3 screens configurations). I suggest using Saved Games\DCS\Config\MonitorSetup\ to store the new configs
