You can do it without exiting DCS, but my experience this weekend (I was messing with kneeboards trying to get stuff out of way the elastic on the leg kneeboard in game) you can't change a plane specific kneeboard while you're in flight.
-
Yes, you need to bind the buttons on the MFD's in DCS. Personally I think that's a better way to do it than using the SimAppPro profiles.

It's pretty clear they're working hard to push another patch before the end of the year, but until it's cleared for release the most you're going to get from ED is "we're pushing hard to release another patch but I have no further news until it passes QC".

Has this changed over time or does that not completely wipe the JDAM and make it a dud (i.e. it wipes all the programming and what not) and completely unusable? I know that was the case when the F-18 came out, but that might have changed since.

To expand on what Tholozor said, these are planes made by competing companies for different military branches. This is not a choice of ED deciding to make it different for a different aircraft just for variety. They operate completely differently in the real world and that's why they are so different in DCS. I find I stick to one aircraft because the whole workflow in the F-16 is sooooo different to the F-18. In the real world that has very little impact because you're not going to jump back and forth so there is no reason for them all to be the same. Different design philosophies by the manufacturers and likely the branch they are being designed/built for.

DCS freeze and going to be unresponsive when i select to spawn in plane
rob10 replied to Flia's topic in Game Crash
Have you tried a slow repair yet? Looks like there are a bunch of damaged/corrupted files in your DCS install by the errors at the end of the log. -
The co-ordinates will automatically pre-populate in WP59 if the mission creator puts a Bullseye on the map in the mission. All you need to do is make sure SEQx is unboxed and you can scroll to any WP you want. If it's boxed you're limited to the whatever WP's are in the sequence. Just unbox it (it will go from BOXED SEQ 1 to UNBOXED SEQ 2 to BOXED SEQ 2 etc) and you can scroll down through the markpoints and WP 59 is the next one. You'll need to go through the SEQx options to get back to a boxed SEQ 1 if you want to only have mission WP's available to scroll through. There are always 60 WP's (0-59) and 9 Markpoints available. In every mission, but usually only a small number actually get assigned to anything. The others are there with no co-ordinates if you want to use them. BUT if you have SEQ1, SEQ2 or SEQ3 BOXED you can only access the WP's set for that SEQ. When SEQ is UNBOXED you can get to them all.

Post a track rather than a video. It's likely something simple that will show up on a track. You realize you really shouldn't need to touch vertical trim if you're >250 kts anyway?
-
As long at the mission maker has set a Bullseye in the game it will automatically populate it to WP59. So just scroll DOWN past the Markpoints to WP59 and assign that and you're good.

I would be surprised if it actually does anything in game currently. Can't say for sure, just my suspicion on it. There are a number of items like that where the control is modelled but the action isn't.

Currently the elastic on the F-18 kneeboard on the pilot leg in cockpit is on an angle. It's also pretty thick. Would it be possible to straighten it across the board (and ideally thin it) so it doesn't cover so much stuff up/require such a big bare area to avoid covering stuff. For example if it was straight you could fit at least 1 more line on here.

Pretty sure the OP's problem is unrelated to this, but either way it's not a bug. It was fixed to work properly to IRL now. The laser codes on the bomb themselves are physically changed with a screwdriver turning a mechanical dial on the bomb, so it's not possible to change it in air. You can change your TPOD code to match it in the air, but you can't change the bomb.

Are you wing level when you hit the deck? IMO that's at least as important as descent rate/weight currently. If you're banked at all the weight all ends up on one gear and that puts it over the break limit.

A question: is there a difference for when people have a trial active or have had trial -- i.e. if you have a trial running you have to be connected? I've never seen the above but there are enough people reporting zero grace period (even if they had been on the night before) that there seems to be 2 different conditions and that's the only thing I can think of. And I'd note that was before the server maintenance so not caused by that.

You shouldn't need the Apache. What are you seeing that makes you think you do?

Never say never, but apparently some of the Razbam devs have said there is no chance this is for DCS.
-
Have you looked in the SimAppPro settings? I believe you need to set it in there for whichever (supported) aircraft you want. I can't remember which all ones are supported, but it should be more than just F-18 IIRC.
-
Realistically, if you want to use DCS on Win 8.1 you'll likely need to use an older version. It may have worked in the summer, but eventually something was going to change that wasn't supported in W8.1 and it was going to break. I you made it this long after ED officially stopped supporting lower than W10 (which was at least a couple of years ago IIRC) you've done well. You can find instructions various places in the forums on how to roll back to an older version.

Known bug. Seems like it is facing that it works at about 350ish degrees approach but is frozen there and doesn't rotate with ship heading so may look like it's facing the wrong way or just not show up.

Did you properly align your HMD at startup? If you didn't it's going to be at least slightly off.
-
Maybe. There have been a lot of changes in AI behaviour and other core function since then, so depending on the aircraft and how simple the mission are it might be fine, might have some quirks or might be basically unplayable. Odds are probably higher that it'll be broken than working, but worth trying.

Possible to make changes to lights settings in F18 UFC permanent?
rob10 replied to markturner1960's topic in Winwing
I think that's changed in a recent update . It used to be blank except on initial power up of the computer (when it lit everything) because on occasion when I forgot to launch SimAppPro I'd be confused why my UFC wasn't working in game. Maybe that's they why did it -- to give an in game indication that SimAppPro isn't connected? No idea. I can see how it could be annoying if you were VR or something and didn't need it. I assume you have tried the LCD BACKLIGHT setting and the LIGHTS OFF settings? Also go into the BACKLIGHT SETTING and set it to SETTINGS (rather than Sync with DCS etc). -
Iraq Launch | Afghanistan East Progress | Winter Sale has started
rob10 replied to Graphics's topic in Official Newsletters
I am optimistic for the Afghanistan updates based on what ED is saying, but in fairness, it was pictures like those that got me to by the whole thing as a pre-order only to be sorely disappointed on release. -
Just in case you weren't aware, there is a bug currently with the F-16 and low speed with rudders. So don't be surprised if you need to tweak them back after (likely the next) update.
-
You're not the only one that had that mis-interpretation, but they worked with the Arctic Thunder creators so that they were ready shortly after map launch, but never actually said they were free or coming with the map.
