Irrealistic air speed extended landing gear
Buzz313th replied to lorfar's topic in Bugs and Problems
So if exceeding VLO with gear out can potentially damage the doors. Wouldn't a FUBAR'ed door or hydro cable lockout gear operation? -
Question on this topic. Can the core simulation of DCS be running at a higher frame rate than the locked rendered frame rate going to display devices? If so, would this new setting reduce system load if core sim frame rate was substantially higher than rendering display frame rate?
-
At what altitude? Are you referencing the F10 kneeboard maps for terrain clearance?

The dot's are probably a way to give people running lower resolution displays the ability to spot at a distance where rendering the model would be smaller than a pixel. But I agree with you. If everyone had the ability to run a resolution where the furthest realistic acquisition distance was equal to a few pixels then they wouldn't need spot dots. Or maybe, the spot dots are ED's way of reducing System load by holding off on rendering a model and textures until much closer distances. If you think about it, this method would make a big impact on system load, especially regarding ground vehicles that are representing mission ai. I dunno, I'm just spitballing. But I do know one thing.. I KNOW, that everyone will not agree on this topic as there are way too many variables. My user adjustability via slider idea, might also be a tool to allow ED to do research on the values that certain users choose compared against the systems they are running.

We should spin up a few WVR engagements. I'll use no dots, and you can use the big new dots. As long as I don't take my eyes off you outside of 2-3 miles you will have no advantage. And considering how hung up you are on the dots, your already at a tactical and mental disadvantage without the ability to let go. I don't think it's that big of a deal TBH. As long as ED gets the dots to render in and out at roughly the correct distance then let the players adjust for what they "Believe" they should see at what distance.

There is no way you will be able to please everyone, everyone is running a slightly different setup and nobody wants to admit they don't have the greatest eyesite. Just give us sliders to adjust the parameters of distant spotting and give server admins the ability to force the same parameters. Wash hands and done..

Irrealistic air speed extended landing gear
Buzz313th replied to lorfar's topic in Bugs and Problems
Doesn't the gear get damaged if it's extended past 300 CAS? -
Rudel is on point. The A10CII, the last one they made, is probably the most well done module in regards to systems polish. It's also an easy sim to learn on since it's easier to stay ahead of the plane due to it's low speed.

fixed 2.9 VR Spotting Dots - can't disable ?
Buzz313th replied to Phantom_Mark's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
Are we on the same page? It's a dropdown menu with two options.. On or Off. It worked for me and I was getting pretty large and obvious grey to black boxes in VR prior to turning off the new logic. -
Great advice. I will use it as soon as I find the best workflow for me for each submode. I'm almost done with all the knowledge items, next step is to start putting them in to practice and see what works well. I have a dozen or so single missions to do, which should mix things up, then post mission I'll review items that felt a bit fuzzy. Then a campaign.

Hi John, Not sure if you have tried flying online, but if you have and you feel comfortable doing it, I would be honored to work with you, as long as I can listen to some interesting stories when you were in the F4. Right now I am almost done teaching myself the Viper, I am proficient in the A10CII. I own the F18C, which is my next project as soon as I can 100% shake out in the 16. I have over a couple thousand hours as PIC in regional Turbo Props and over 1000 hours in regional jets, no military time. If it sounds interesting send me a message on the forums. Cheers

How can people comment on the realistic FM of the Viper unless they have flown one? To get a feeling of roughly what 9G's might feel like, go down to your local airport and buy a demo hour in an Acro Aircraft. A "Cheap" hour would be in a Decathalon. It is rated to +6G -4G. Take that ride and ask the pilot to show you +5 - +6G at the bottom of a loop. Tell me if you could keep your head up and stop staring at your own crotch. If you can find something with a bigger engine, Pitts, Eagle, Extra.. Then you can experience longer duration at +6 and possibly higher. Then come back and tell us how many seconds of +9G a Viper Pilot pulls.

Probably, unless ED is going to try to make "Everyone" Happy. -
https://store.steampowered.com/app/777390/Flyout Hopefully I don't get a beating for posting this, but I figure it's far enough away from the DCS Genre that it might be ok.. From a reviewer.. "Maybe a little biased but I have been testing this game for just about 4 years now. It has come an incredibly long way and Stone has created an amazing aircraft simulation game. I absolutely love the game and am happy to see it finally released. People should know that it will be very difficult at first, but it is also incredibly rewarding to push through the learning curve and get a flying aircraft. The customization it allows is insane. This level of complexity is not for everyone, and you need to know that it will take a lot of effort to learn the editor before diving in. The flying feels fantastic, it's a great simulation and the aircraft behave the way they should behave realistically. People have made 1:1 replicas that have near identical flight envelopes to their real world counterparts. It's also a ton of fun to explore the procedural world and find new canyons to zoom through, or go for an altitude record and see the curvature of the planet (Earth sized). Join us on the discord if you're having trouble, we're more than willing to help out new people and hold your hand through your first build, and we're very excited to see what everyone is working on! This game is a blast and a dream come true for aviation nerds who want to make their own aircraft to see how they would perform. Highly recommend, even with the steep learning curve." Personally, I am going to wait a few weeks and monitor the forums and reviews. Lately Early Access Titles have been giving me the blues. But... If any of you dive headfirst into this title, please share your views. Holy <profanity>e, that rhymed... Cheers

Maybe it's too far away... Move closer and you might see it.. Obviously just joking. And sorry I don't have a helpful answer.. Just an opportunity for a Dad joke.

Heatblur... Please Consider Making A Proper F15C
Buzz313th replied to Buzz313th's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I kinda like the latest model 15C.. I like the big glass and I think the pilot is kinda cute. News to me is that the 15C had a JHMCS. Considering the technology and methods/tactics that is probably incorporated in to the purpose of that big screen, I doubt we will ever see any sort of realistic representation of that model Eagle in DCS. It's probably all about completely passive/visual BVR capabilities through an aircraft network that includes Satellites, AWACS, Ground stations/forces, JSTARS and Ally aircraft. The most recent 15's probably never need to light up the radar to lob AIM-120's https://youtu.be/zikI2fazPLo https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/21081/the-usaf-has-quietly-added-large-multi-function-cockpit-displays-to-its-f-15c-fleet
