HUH? (that is an interjection not 2 paragraphs of text ;) ) Thrust to weight isn't just the number you get when you divide thrust to weight? like 10kg thrust devided to 10kg weight you get the number 1.0 The thrust to weight is normally defined at mil power or full AB etc but basically it is just the division of thrust at some point by the weight at that point. So basically I can vary the thrust... by just reducing throttle for example and since the weight decreases slowly (because of fuel burn or ammo release) that T/W ratio will decrease per pilot input if we want. So what your statement say is that sustained turn rate has nothing to do and is not influenced if you simply cut off the engine altogether. I don't think is like that. So maybe you shouldn't underline that word "nothing" if it's used only as a figure of speech.

Thanks for the update. two small things I wish to ask: 1. do you think something can be done about this little tiny annoying windows placing? Every time I update the app I (we?) must hunt for the OK or close button that always gets under the splash screen like in the picture :D 2. Do you think this bug presented here (but not confined to Mirage only) can be related to Kneeboard Builder app by strange chance? https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2991720

could you clarify the phrase a bit? If all fails try to: -make sure the said mod is not activated manually or by JSMGE -create a new profile for DCS using only that mod in the mods folder so you can be sure there are no conflicts etc. check also the backups folder for clue of the mod being somehow still activated or something else (residues etc) Was the mod big in size?

I stumbled too on this elusive bug twice. SP and MP. I couldn't find a fix or a pattern. I restarted the mission 3 times once in SP and to no avail.

We can only hope one day the Mig21 will be inline with the other modules in this regard.

I don't get your amazement. I don't say not to be useful, but not to be dependent on someone offering to work for food etc. A while ago there were old people that were afraid of "jobs" getting cut from agriculture and saw no future. Food although a big business is technologically not a problem (unless a big business is behind it). Imho... having people independent in shelter/energy department and with the new wave of automation... I see a new chance of a big revolution in human life. A change most of people does not foresee or comprehend.
-
In the future I hope people will become more and more self sustained so they will depend less and less on a job. There are some things that might get us to there in the future so I don't fear Amazon even if I don't agree on their practices.

+1 Some bumper stickers and T-shirts. :D

I don't have it anymore since some patches I think. I have deleted all my controls saved in C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\M-2000C and redone them in DCS. I think the old default config files from DCS World folder conflicted with the savings in this other folder and problems occurred. Give it a try.

Is this mod creating a drop down list to change cockpit textures to Mig21Bis Special tab like the other modules have?

Any chance for a electromagnetic ball gimbal with FFB? :D -
I have the sight brightness on an axis by adding this line: to the end of default.lua situated in \DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Mi-8MTV2\Input\Mi-8MTV2\joystick you can add also: for elevation on axis.
-
 Best idea! I hope when there will be some time RAZBAM would try to implement it. All assets should be available in warehouses so later when DCS supply chains will evolve all the things can be controlled in a logistic/economic environment.

Is the second time you yell that empty question. You want the answer? read the thread. You are not listening and I have absolute opinion? :megalol:

I think your post summaries perfectly how the discussion went in this thread. :megalol: I didn't said western tech is crap... I said I don't trust military contractors advertising. Why, is really easy to understand if you think about it, no need to expand here. I didn't said Soviet technology is so superior, I was using an argument to explain why IRST can't be crap since it uses a huge Optic/IR device that looks at least far more superior to a disposable ManPad seeker that seems to work very well even from the humble beginnings. Your only argument was an old bar story about a US pilot flying a German legacy Mig29. What I said about Romania was pure joke... you missed it with flying colors. Finally MLWS maybe is not crap on F35 or a "Google Fighter" :P but this is the first and final point you missed badly. And you and the others are missing it so badly because you start to read with a wrong bias. You know... if you start "listening" to somebody "knowing" he is your "enemy and a piece of ...." you can't really "hear" what he is saying and you can't be constructive in the dialogue. So finally I will say it again: Because DDM wasn't installed on any real Mirage 2000C maybe is not such a realistic option and since is just a glitch opportunity (since is close to useless in game it can only go up towards "usefulness"/exploit in case of bug/glitch) maybe... just maybe it should be Off by default and not On. Then... I thought of a better solution. Why not ad that to Warehouses in Airfields/Airbases so it will be On by default as you really really like it and mission designers can quickly and in a centralized manner can disable them. You know... like almost any other system attachable on a plane or helo. Like here:

You can load whatever you want but don't expect the weapon control system to actually work properly... this is what the manual say this is what you experience so... No Bug! -
Thanks again for reply and links Jojo! Sure but as you said later in your post... good luck spotting a launch from the air now... while yanking hard that sensor. A picture can look impressive. A smudged video feed with "2 diodes and a resistor" to compute it might be a bit harder. Imho this why you see DDM on the attack version of Mirage and not on the Fighter. The DDM can be selectively started by the Weapons Operator while in the dive and after attack while egressing when a smoother trajectory is mandatory. I think for the Fighter version the results with that era technology was bad enough so they did not bother. Yes at 45° ;) . Since it has 2 sensors... even double sensors it would be nearly impossible to display (continuously!) a moving line across more azimuths. Of course. I don't deny this... so is the interest on having an airborne powerful laser. I think you misunderstood me here so your extra tea spoon of arrogance is not necessary :) . I said that since ManPads technology now days (obviously not from the middle ages...) can spot-track-engage a moving IR target with a disposable seeker (because the missile will be destroyed with all the electronics and it needs to be cost effective you can't launch a Hubble telescope after every plane) we can assume that an IRTS from a Mig29/Su27 even if a bit older would be far more helpful. At least this is what I find reasonable. Again... if that target stays like that. But moving, it will roll or turn presenting far different image. Thus the seeker must have more images stored or a fall back algorithm and this I think would make it susceptible to flares. Another thing is that lots of big flares will make the image of that sensor look like a brand new piece of white A4 paper. There is no need then to spoof the missile anymore... it's simply blinded. This can happen with D2M too if it has to look into a cloud of flares launched from own plane. It can have 10 spectrums... all will be blinded. And you can't afford to make flares with only one spectrum radiation because they will become useless isn't it? And finally... when this technology will be really that good I am sure the military will hire some fireworks technicians to build something like this, but foldable and to look more like a plane than a dragon :D . http://21ccgroup.com/fireworks/lancework-fireworks/ I think everybody have seen that testimony (I was pointing at it too in my post). I find it anecdotal to say the least. Not to mention the only one and in contradiction with common sense as I said above.
-
I observed after reading your post that I use to yank the plane off the ground more lately. Definitely a lot more AoA to take off quickly after reaching 250-270Km/h. Could be because of the late modifications of FM?
-
Try also to rearm. I observed that the external tank does not show its fuel on the indicator unless you "rearm". Change chaffs/flares... Gun Ammo... something then wait not only for refuel but for rearm too. When they say: "rearm complete" you will see the needle jump.

@Jojo (sorry for the long post) Best way is to ask Zeus about this. He can tell best if he used anything from A-10C code to make D2M. My opinion that he create it from scratch is based on his WIP pictures and text. :megalol: I guess this is a matter of "perspective". Did you know that Romania (my country of origin) had in the late 60's some powerful anti tank and anti-personal Lasers that effectively stopped Russia to invade Romania after disobeying to invade Czechoslovakia? (For the Russian friends here on the forum... please try not to laugh... this is serious :D ) But maybe things are different in the West, maybe these super systems are build by VEAO (they do have contracts with DOD) and the quality is as advertised :pilotfly: . Hey, thanks for the links and video!! Its funny that: So much for that advert :D Also in that Advertising video there is no fighter! And I think we can agree that if they would have had one single fighter they would have mention it because... advertising. Returning at D2M system. How do you know that the D2M system on Raphale has no upgrades versus the one on Mirage2000B at least in the sensor? Since both are very secret, thus not really known I would assume (since Military is so awesome :) ) since 90's they would have upgrade it. I can't find the post but I think Zeus said that the warning on RWR will stay for 10 seconds and after those 10 seconds a new one can appear. So if the plane is in a turn this could render the thing very unreliable even more. I am sure someone with better knowledge than mine could "educate" :P you on this also. But, all I can say to you (not being in the business) is that Russians have IRST on all their planes Su27 family and Mig29 planes (even T-50!) and they have a lot of missiles that work in conjunction with it. Are they lying? If so... big lie :) . But think about it... ManPads can spot/track/ and engage front aspect targets with a disposable seeker and we are to assume the IRST is useless because?!? An US pilot in an exchange program tested one on a Mig29G? C'mon... The thing here is this... Russians put IRST on all of their fighter planes and claim it can even do BVR but the French only thought of putting D2M on Mirage2000C... on the back... if the plane carried IR missiles (this detail speak clearly of the intended only anti ManPads)... The difference between IRST and D2M seems huge to me. This is I guess a matter of how do we tend to round up or if one is an optimist or an pessimist. If the system was never installed on the C and we know practically nothing about it... you want to call it realistic... I will call it a la "Battlefield 4". Especially since nobody will benefit from it anything against ManPads. Only in A2A will have its use. I don't fool myself about it. Because of this the developer should have asked himself... is it worth it to even expose the plane to online multiplayer possible misuse? That's why I always asked the feature to be default OFF so the mission designer to have not to worry about this aspect. The best best solution would have been to make this system available even at rearming so it would be independent of mission designer short sight if the case. But it should have been in the Airbase Warehouse Option as available load out! And if it would have been placed there I wouldn't mind to be default ON because is very easy to prohibit it by a Multiplayer Mission Designer. This the final etc sounds to me like "I want this thread locked! Locked! Quick! Is too dangerous! Lock it!!!" :D Nothing is final... even if somehow you say I am right... maybe you change your mind later. I would totally agree with your new arguments if necessary. One last thing about the Sun and flares. You highlighted the filter aspect in you post but the wording was about "background noise". Not flares not Sun. Again... they would have praised them selves about this not insinuate it or let it at anyone's guess. The problems with flares and sun are that the flares are very powerful and close to the plane/D2M sensor creating what somebody (if not you) said about a missile launch a volcano! The sun is huge and emits on all spectrum so... how do you filter it if it simply blinds everything? The solution I would think is similar with the one that was used in WW1 to make the machineguns fire through the propeller. Although most people would think at some magic thing that would protect or move the blades from bullets it was actually a lot more simpler.... the guns were stopped from firing when the propeller was in the path of the bullet. So the best way is to stop the filter when exposed to flares or Sun. This is one of the things that make me solve the riddle of this D2M system being mounted only on the double seater attack variant of Mirage. Easy to calculate your attack run not to have sun in the back or if it does to disable it.

@Jojo How do you know D2M code is borrowed from A10C? From Zeus posts we could deduce he code it it from scratch all by him self. I make an educated guess... I could be wrong... but you would either have to bring me some arguments to convince me otherwise or you simply can not to care and live it like this. Shouting at me that somehow is my fault that "I decided" (lol) to think like this is just in the realm of humor. So here is my "educated guess": Our Mirage is actually too old to have good D2M system. Yes... Maybe Rafale has one too but also my grandpa computer had a Hard Drive but it was just one Megabyte, weighted 2 tones and had a transfer rate of 1kbs... hardly the same thing with a modern Hard Drive. So my opinion is that D2M was not introduced on Mirage 2000C but was put on the attack double seater because of its probably huge drawbacks. A fighter rarely attacks ground target where he could have a reasonable flight path that he could understand and clearly expect lanches. A fighter mot probably would use this in dogfight at close combat rages. I make a parenthesis here. The fact that D2M is placed under IR missiles pylons and they take a shape of some puny little webcam sensors with a prism o top and not like a small astronomic observatory like the IRST sensor from Su27 looks like shows not only the huge difference in technology but also in expectations. So returning to my guess. If this system with such a small angle of coverage and big latency would be used in dogfight most probably a fighter pilot would be enraged by the rate of failures of detections or false positives that he would consider it useless. A pilot in dogfight would most probably be turning at a huge rate and a warning even if correct would be shown too late or in the wrong position. But most probably because he (the pilot) would pop flares and be turning and very likely expose the back of the plane to the sun will add more chances to the system to fail and show false positives that will only clutter his mind instead of helping. But a double seater attack variant can use the D2M as a backup or supplementary device in a more stable environment (steady attack runs with comprehensible trajectories for the plane crew). The crew can disable D2M if attacking from the sun or if the plan to use a lot of flares. Lastly how do people imagine a launch will look on a lensless (as it seeems) sensor mounted on an aircraft moving at hundreds of kilometers per hour banking and turning heavy in combat? Like a Space Shuttle Launch from Cape Canaveral or more like impressionistic spasmodic blobs of black and white filling mindlessly the small uncorrected unstabilized image sensor? And if instead of looking like a Spacecraft streaking across the sensor with good chances of being picked by a pattern detection algorithm from the 80's the thing looks more like an explosion catch up-close by a phone camera while falling from the hand... how it would not be sensitive to flares or Sun? How do you think you filter out the Sun? Or some flares that looks like more Suns? Example. TrackIR can't filter out the Sun and is 2012? (the last one) technology. So lets put AIM120 on all planes, helicopters , boats and trees in DCS. You know... is this kind of comment, or the one that cries for thread locking or that one that stumbles on some phrazeologic bureaucracy that raise the red flag for me. Is these kinds of remarks that makes me think... he he he...

Why do you think is like that? ;)

Pretty much same as RAZBAMs :D . here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2963498&postcount=1

@ Gliptal I never flew F15C online and maybe 1-2 times the Su-27 in a PvP environment. Because of lack of time and training I rarely fly PvP and I do it on BlueFlag server mostly flying Mig21bis or a helicopter. @ Bogey Jammer As I said numerous times by now here, there is no point fixing an wrong by doing another one. I do use Mig21 online in PVP but there is no point in using it for CAS/GND Attack for me since it will just become even easier to die having less missiles or heavy rocket launchers attached. I use Su25 for this task. For the hardcore realism side of fans I think this issue is "beyond fixing". The only solution is to simply disable it and carry on. For the multiplayer though, no matter how little this side of DCS is in each ones view, this system being now close to worthless (if RAZBAM would add sensibility to flares and sun to D2M everybody would keep it off I guarantee) can only be a bad thing if it glitches after a patch because it is already close to the bottom of usefulness and the only direction would be towards giving unreal "Battlefield" style advantage. I think we can agree that after people will use this and see how badly it warns about missiles launches if this system after a patch drops it's sensitivity by half no one will notice or care!

I said that there is no point in fixing an evil with another evil but you acted "offended" ( "I never made that claim." ) but now you are at this point anyway. I think the most important statement of yours is this: "And I am not a mission designer, I don´t care how much extra work they have to put in". If you don't care about this then I see no point of your words in this topic other than asking for flame. The main issue raised several times is that the D2M system being not a realistic one it shouldn't be default On. Not that it should be removed altogether or something. The rest is really not so important.
