rich, you are a wealth of knowledge so don't be so hard on yourself :) talking about lack of sleep, mission building has got me bad :) ok thats what it was, when i had more than one client per base we were in the parking lot, with only one client it was on the runway. as for the server: running lockon on a seperate pc in server mode. 2 lan clients and others joining over the net. i set the password in pass box but i swear it changes when i exit and restart the server. i better check this later, otherwise i will be the "dolt" i "assumed" you maybe able to predefine the password, like in touch-buddy cfg for its server/client passwords. thanks again for the help , enjoying myself immensely.

ok start in the air, overlooked the obvious. strangely enough i just flew a homemade mission then in 1.12a, me vs 1 ai, both took off from runway, weird. another question, forgive me if these things have been asked a million times before: what is the default password for the server, why does it change and where is it set? after stopping and then restarting the server, sometimes there is a password, but its not mine and clients cannot join, pretty sure thats the story.

thanks team, got the bombing worked out now, also the mission was of great help. there goes the next few hours :D as for the takeoff, i am sure one mission i made, the client took off from the end of the strip engines running, but i couldn't seem to make it happen again, maybe i was dreaming. not that i mind the startup procedure, just trying to save some time while learning the finer points of mission building :)

help needed please, mission makers. after another night of mission making i now i have a few questions: when telling a client plane to takeoff from the runway, why does the plane appear in the parking lot and not on the runway, it needs to be spooled up and everything? even though it says type = take off, action = from runway. cannot get the bombers to target the enemy runway, i put the attack icon over the runway, and make the task = pinpoint strike or runway attack, and load em up with bombs, they just fly over and go home? must be overlooking something?

please see my second post for some questions i have about mission making, thanks. after months of no air time due to various reasons i finally sat down the other night for an extended session in the mission editor and managed to get fairly comfortable creating missions, albeit basic ones. i am amazed at how complex some of the downloaded missions i have tried are, they must have taken quite some time and consideration in the planning, getting everything to happen when it is supposed to etc. my missions are a far cry from the serious mission builders efforts. so far just with simple take off, attack and land if you survive kind of thing. enough for us to have some fun. my son and i have been trying them out and we are having a ball doing so. love gaming with my young bloke, just have to get him into the trackir, he doesn't like it yet :) but i'm sure he will come around. just wanted to share the fact that after all this time i found its not so hard to create your own missions with a little bit of learning time spent in the mission editor. and i am especially excited as its the first bit of flying i have done in ages, flying our own custom missions and most importantly: enjoying it with my son . if you have some time give it a go and try building a mission or 2 yourself.

thanks Tekateka, looking good.

better missiles, better radar, better speed (hi alt) i thought it was an ad for what the eagle needs fixed :D

correct, that is the current situation as far as i am aware. touch-buddy can display the TEWS using an active module. lovp can currently only display russian instruments but i do believe that somewhere down the track the intent is there to create US style instruments for lovp. you have to be nice to Mnemonic, its his baby.

and i though 2 cards was plenty: read something about 780i chipset and triple sli. currently i cannot even find ultras locally, but they do have cheap 889+ calibres its an oc gtx @ 630/1960 and performs slightly under a stock ultra. comes with some fancy cooler, tec or something, i'll try to get better info. also note the hsf heatpipe blocks access to one of the bridge connections. the one nearer to the output end of the card, is this an issue. think you just run a single link but not completely sure. other current option is leadtek 8800gtx 575/1800 the cooler on the sparkle card does look better than the reference design. cards called calibre 889+ any members had experience with the sparkle brand? -
and tell time will, and in good time, when the time is right. you can do several things, sit waiting like watching the grass grow for release time, or just do something else in the mean time, time and time again i write time but this is the last time this time.

i think it has been said this extra monitor for abris etc will probably be included in the future but not in the first release of dcs. in the mean time i would suggest looking into mnemonics lockon 'virtual panel', and also zorlacs 'touch-buddy'. these guys have it going on in the pit building department. i can already picture the abris in the middle of a touch-buddy profile.:book: if building a pit i would advise making the plans to include these features as it will eventually be done, be it in game by ed, or by one of our community modders. an abris will be good to see exported by ED to another screen, i like in fsx how you just open another window and select the desired view, then click and drag to what ever screen, position and size you like. if we are lucky maybe 'JimMack' can do an interview on it :) , i like those. or evilbivol can give some news on the matter.

agreed, good advice too i must say, and i have been wrestling with myself over this exact thing. for lockon and rfactor i play on the projector @ 1280x720, so no real need for the second card. the thing is i have the triplehead2go and run that @ 3840x1024. currently boxed up with the monitors as i was never really happy with the results i got when it was powered by the 6800 ultra agp. it was ok but required a lot of eye candy to be lost in order to make it playable. if i didn't want the th2go resolution i would totally agree and get only a single card. thanks for suggestion, i know i shouldn't but i know i probably will :) -

so far so good, multiple passes with memtest @ 4-4-4-12-2t timings :) -
i'm waiting for teka teka's AWM, advanced wood model.:) with realistic chlorophyll, and authentic photosynthesis modeling. not too mention root rot, seasonal foliage and borers. with internal age rings and sap flow, stopping now. ok, maybe just the seasonal foliage , at a guess. tree collisions and damage to branches etc would be nice eventually. wasn't aware tekateka was on board, a great asset to the community he is. yet to see anything from him that i haven't liked, great news.

yes, buttkicker, saw one at the local a few days ago, i totally want one of these puppies, can imagine it adding quite a bit to the overall experience. about $280 aus money.

from memory thats the engine start selector or similar. notes #1 vid :) a tricky switch to make, hmmmm. maybe use a rotary switch, but instead of a dial/knob turning and pointing to say 5 options around an arc, you could have the toggle handle mounted on an angle so that it spins around instead of being able to go to and from any position. its not ideal but its only a napkin :) this way you could select which contact points of the rotary switch actual sent back an input, this way the 5 options could be placed in the correct positions as per the panel label. hope that makes some sense to you, i know what i mean :) great effort triggerhappy69, most impressive, make mine look ordinary :D i though those panels were real, top job.

weta43: yes thats the one but the model with all the golf ball marks :) not overly concerned as i have just run a successful pass or 3 of memtest86+ v165. now in the middle of testing all 4 gig together (so far so good) still admittedly at default detected timings of 5-5-5-18 and should be able to run @ timings of 4-4-4-12 but little steps before running :) still slow on getting into vista anything. edit: multiple passes of memtest v165+ with all 4 gig @ 5-5-5-18 now to tighten the strings a little good news: also found a handy little app called pendrivelinux which let me boot from the usb stick and run memtest from the stick, NO FLOPPY REQUIRED -

thats music to my ears, nice one, didn't know you could get that high. yes i have also read the 4 gig has some parts taken already in xp but its no big deal, 3 out of 4 is better than 2 out of 2, in this case anyway. i just this minute put the 430w antec psu in with the 20-24pin adapter. booted up and no problems so far, it has bios version 1002 (p5n32e-sli) so its fairly recent, i will be trying the 4gig and running memtest for a few cycles to check stability. looks like i can boot from the usb ( for memtest and bios flashing) so hopefully unless i am doing raid its no floppy drive very happy it booted up ok, always a nervous period in a system build. now to set the memory timings and try the other 2 gig. it defaulted to 800 x 5-5-5-18, but the sticks are 800 x 4-4-4-12. apparently i may have to reduce this to 667 x 4-4-4-12, as its 4x1gig not 2x2, i can upgrade this later if need be, but it was so dam cheap, corsair xms2 ddr2 2gig pair for $121 Aus. on a sad note: a bit unfortunate, our new car (ve-sv6) just got smashed bad by the biggest hail storm i have ever seen , spewing a bit. oh well the new pc booted up :D, haha. -

built the system but realized the spare antec 430w i had to test it with only has 20 pin connector and the new board needs a 24pin, will see if my local shop has an adapter or i will have to wait until i buy the new psu. new core 2 cpu hsf was interesting, gone are the days of clipping in the cpu and locking down the hsf. now you drop in and lock down the cpu and then easily clip on the hsf :) bad explanation but if you have put one together you will be understanding. found my pci gpu, its an fx5200 pci (not pci-e) that i was using for experiments before the th2go came along. note: still arguing with myself over what cards to buy, surely the kids don't need presents this year :D -

nice one Urze, i like the way you think: "i want it, surely it can be done, look i did it." how good, wireless touchbuddy now :) well done on getting the ppc working in windows and with TB:thumbup: and i noticed you are running the softTH, with centre widescreen, interesting. we will save that for another thread. shameless plug for great piece of software: if you aren't using touch-buddy you're already at a disadvantage. -

disclaimer: firstly, all my answers are based on lofc 1.12a, i have no idea if there have been changes in DCS, at a guess i would say its the same or similar until we see the new game engine. 1.trackir = its a definite, also a cheap webcam alternative if you are handy. (if you never thought of it as beneficial then you havent used one :) 2. yes 2 projectors are easily spanned thru windows and then the appropriate aspect ratio and resolution has to be set thru the configs. 3. the maximun "stable" fov i could achieve was 175' , anything higher and the game became unpredictable, crashing, locking up etc. this also needs to be edited thru the view or server file, its been a while sorry. this has been discussed in depth at the old lockon ru forums, try an advanced search using my name and 'span' as the key word, should give you a bit to read:thumbup: -

more power :D just picked up my cpu e6850 c2d 3ghz 4mb wondering if i should build it with the parts i have gathered, to set up the bios and flash it if need be once i see what version it is, then set memory timings and all that and run memtest etc. that way i can have it running stable and ready for the videocards, as i am sure working out all the sli setting will be enough to deal with, let alone any stability issues. yes i think thats the go, i have a standard pci videocard i can use for now, geforce 5200 i think. stay tuned.
