180° Field of View with jDome and background projection
G3 replied to Feuerfalke's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
a very good ?, i think my reliable max was 175 with a very big fps hit. that dome needs some bending software or lense to pre distort the image to match the dome, this looks like a compromise with stretched peripheral vision. but the point made is fair enough, you only need to see movement in an fps shooter, and the th2go isnt much better at such a big fov, definte potential there. -

F10 Map export to a second screen?
G3 replied to Odin_Norway's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
unfortunately i have not seen it done on a single pc, would be nice though. one way to make it happen is as follows: if you have another pc you can network, it is possible to host the game as the server and spectate, then select f-10 map view, meanwhile joining the mission as a client on your gaming pc. this provides you with permanent realtime map view on the server screen while running the cockpit view on your gaming pc. -
after several hours of racing and flying with the: "buttkicker gamer". i would have to say i am adequately impressed to endorse this device and give it a high rating and include it in my list of essential gaming accessories. the only negative aspects i can think of is the fact that vioce comms such as ventrillo and Ts2 make the unit vibrate in responce to the speech, but careful tuning reduces this effect on comms sufficiently to not be a problem while still providing the required effect for in game sensation. its my opinion that the buttkicker gamer is a worthy addition to your sim pit as it definitely adds to the desired feeling of being there, for example: in racing you can feel: ripple strips, grass, gear changes, impacts and engine revs. when flying you can feel the runway, the afterburners, hits from enemy gun fire, firing you own cannon, ejecting and missle hits etc. recently as i downed an enemy chopper in the SP f-15 patrol mission, i flew past the mountain side just as the heli impacted the ground and i felt the explosion, really adding to the immersion. if you find yourself with around $300 Aus burning a hole in your pocket and a itch that can only be scratched with the warm feeling of a new pc gadget then this is the item you have been looking for, 2 thumbs up:thumbup::thumbup: http://www.thebuttkicker.com/gaming/index.htm

Fix for SLI flashing clouds in LOMAC
G3 replied to Slayer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
=RvE=Paploo, i would like to know your settings in the general, i am experimenting and must say i find it slightly confusing. coould you please list your general settings, thanks. Ogreman, SLi is two videocards working together, the problem is flashing clouds, the fix i guess is 'delicate' as you need to mess with nhancer, which looks powerful and some seem to have issues with it. if you hang around long enough you will begin to love abbreviations, this genre is full of them. -
i would like to create missions for some online multiplayer action and was wondering if i can get away with installing just the plain original lockon on my laptop to create missions but then fly them on FC 1.12b i know there are problems playing track files or different versions so i am thinking it probably won't work. but would like to not have to carry my FC cd with the laptop for when it asked to check the disc. sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere.

there are a few around, hmmm. here you go. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=17306&highlight=th2go

found this thread again the other day as i needed a few copies of FC for my buddy's and i was pleasantly suprised to see the offer is still current, thanks very much Ice. i look forward to bringing a few more good guys over to the lockon world. It really is nice to have a local supplier of the CD version of FC, and for the price, its less than a shout at the pub.

Fix for SLI flashing clouds in LOMAC
G3 replied to Slayer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
never had a virus issue from guru3d but i certainly do get the flickering clouds, never thought to just turn the sli off, but as you said why should you, there has to be a better way. still on xp pro sp2, so your solution or fix may be irrelavent here but i appreciate the question being raised. for reference sake i am currently runnning 169.44 xp 32. these seem to be very stable on my system. -
i missed the party, oh no i see its still going. Massive effort Sim-Mod. all those who love the A10 will be in heaven. this new Sim-Mod A-10 model has definitely raised the bar, most impressive.

 good point, must try ejecting.

good info there Bwaze, didn't know there were so many models. i have a stick with your name on it if we can get it to you cheaply. love the idea of modding with leo's pcb, i want to do the same with one of the throttles. the throttles are desirable and the sticks are a dime a dozen. i will post what i have and if freight is within your budget the you can have the pick of the litter so to speak. pretty sure i have at least a talon or two, plus some of those red light versions. Goya, i agree, the feel and build quality of the buttons etc on the sfs gear was less than impressive, i was dissapointed by this fact. ch-guts in sfs shell would be sweet indeed, so agreed back at ya. Vekkinho: i believe they are all gameport the models i have, some with ps2 and maybe some with at keyboard plugs but easily converted to ps2 via adaptor. now this is a combo crate: 2 talons and 2 combo creates

the good old f-15 talon, i loved the idea of no spring feel in the middle of the axis, the centering mechanism was well designed, although the potentiometers and how they were controlled left a litte to be desired. i have personnally had these units running well on xp using a custom driver in the game control panel. Zuki, unless i misunderstand i have to disagree, the split axis throttle works fine, as does the programmable buttons, they are basically just a keyboard emulator and are not affected by the operating system. i have had all the fuctioning buttons and switches assigned to key commands mapped thru the throttle and stick. as for wanting a new one, good luck. but if truely intrested in a second hand one, i have several, i have two complete sets of talon and split throttle, and i also have some other sticks, not talons but the lesser version with the big red light on the handle near the hats. some need the pots replaced, as the axis are less than smooth. this is why i stepped up to the CH-Products, and never looked back. if anyone really wants them i will discuss via pm. i have been using the split throttle with the CH combat stick but in order to get it working i still had to have the sfs joystick plugged in to the throttle along with the keyboard passthru. i still have plans on converting one of the split throttles to usb, the potentiometers are the real weak point of these hotas. i have looked around and the replacement parts are available from local electronic suppliers for a few dollars, think i made a thread about it before. they really were something way back when. forget the original drivers, and maybe an old soundcard with gameport onboard will get you working, good luck bigmac

thanks for the heads up CoNa. just gave it a good session in rfactor and found it was pretty darn good:thumbup: now off to try the a10 and the eagle. edit: what can i say, i felt the A-10 get shot down, panning in externals was really bad but feeling the hits is cool. definately needs some fine tuning but i like it, enough to try it again, and again. after some further testing buttkicker really is good, rounds from a btr-70 rocked thru the A-10 fuselage and kind of scared me as it rattled the chair i am liking this more and more.

Is it possible to DIY a 1024X768 goggle?
G3 replied to Alex_rcpilot's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
alex, i like your idea and think it has great potential. would be wonderful to have a high res low cost headset. i hope you find some parts and get things rolling. definitely you would want the original circuit boards for ease of integration along with a well balanced mount. the backlit idea sounds right, leds could emit light onto a white or opague surface. as for the lense, would you actually need anything as i would have though you would be looking at a close up image, or maybe it works like a freznel lense to make everything appear larger. anyway, great idea, good luck with it. -
hey Urze, just got my projector back after waranty repair and am trying to setup softTH in non sli with projector on top and 3 screens below. almost reverse of your setup. disconnected the th2go and got lockon fc working with softTH on the 3 19" screens no worries, but have yet to manage getting all four screens working in sync. have been editing the softTH cfg but often lockon just fails to start so i keep trying. determined to get this working, just need some more time on it. i got the opinion you had a lot of trial and error also. the projector @ 1280x720 and the 3 19" monitors are @ 1280x1024 i have tried setting up the projector and the middle screens on vertical span yet no side screens. any ideas? the desired effect is similar to my touchbuddy setup below:

love that first image, actually they're all good. thanks Torwak.

hey Kuky, yes been there and done that a thousand times, thanks for trying. it was the reason people often recommended locfg for this purpose, as it can restore this setting very easily, rather than a manual edit everytime. it works a treat but does not support my desired aspect ratio. it lets you enter custom resolutions but the A/S is set to only one of four options.
-
hey there fellow sim enthusiasts, was hoping someone here could help me with a LOCFG issue. am just getting back into lockon and doing my best to tweak it for best performance, but always going back to 1.333 ratio is hell when everytime you want to edit settings etc (as we all know i am sure) to find the best setup for your pc. story is i am running a res of 3840x1024 = aspect ratio of 3.75 unfortunately locfg does not seem to support this aspect ratio. it's not listed as an option, offering only 1.33, 1.25, 1.77 and 1.6 wondering if it's possible to add this aspect ratio, thanks. if you are familiar with this program and understand how to add this option i would be most appreciative.

thanks, i have asked you some more  will continue this conversation there.
