  1. oh dear, it was a direct cut and paste from my working graphics.cfg so ? maybe the th2go digital version works differently, once again i am unsure. maybe try with the fullscreen options set to 0 instead of 1. in the cfg i recall having to do this once before when messing with weird resolutions. all else aside, i know you are loving it, as i do, the emotion is obvious in your earlier descriptions  enjoy my friend, we shall no doubt continue our discussions in the future.
  2. here's an extract of a modified graphics.cfg this one makes the user interface on centre screen only. the down side is the th2go has to swap resolutions between ui and flying so the side screens turn on and off, you know :) remember to set the aspect to 1.25 for 1280x1024 note: the top settings appear to follow the middle settings. (the top res will set itself to the middle res once you run the game and return to graphics config) its not a problem, just an observation. here we are then: DisplayMode { resolution = {1280, 1024}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.25; Interface { resolution = {1280, 1024}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.25; } Simulation { resolution = {3840, 1024}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 3.75; } as for the 4.00 or 3.75 aspect ratio, look at round-ness of gauges to compare, square-ness of the VSD etc. "i should have said the server controls/overides your edits to the camera angle limits in the server.lua :) at least i think it does." not meaning to argue the point, just not sure why we are getting different results. i tried the camera angle limits on the gameserver tonight just to be sure, editing the server.lua camera angle limits in the horizontal from 200 down to 50, and the client view was definitely restricted. so maybe our values are different or the server u are flying on has then modified, unsure? could be the different aircraft, i am test in the eagle, you are in the A-10, maybe i am looking around further than you, buggered if i know. as for the bezel management, does it loose the two inches in normal desktop like i do, or does the software give a full size 2d desktop, with cropped gaming? we have now officially turned this into another long messy thread of th2go thinking, collective thinking now. sure would be great to maybe move all this to another thread and keep the th2go guide free of discussion, and keep it focused on just the facts. its a top idea to get all this info together, cheers to JEFX a thread cleanup is in order, where's groove :) when you need him, maybe a few topical political comments would catch someones eye, that seems to work around these parts for fairly obvious reasons. oh yeah and that maximizing a windowed app to just one fulll screen rather than across all three sounds very nice. appreciate your info on the pro's and con's of the software .
  3. i should have said the server controls/overides your edits to the camera angle limits in the server.lua :) at least i think it does. the th2go model i have is all vga not dvi, picked it up ages ago, set it up, it worked, and basically forgot it. as for the bezel management i do that manually thru the screens own positioning ui, your way does sound better :), as i loose the outside inch or so of both left and right screens all the time. Either way, the diagonal lines in game like horizon when banking must line up for the best results. i do like the idea of choosing where apps open, can you click full screen and only maximise to one screen, or do apps still go enormous when maximised. thanks for discussing, might revisit the software. did you by chance try that differrent apsect of 3.75
  4. i have heard this too, 2 sticks better than 4, i just liked the botherboard bit. as we know some botherboards can be quite bothersome especially with 4x 1gig sticks. good psu is by far the best suggestion. i will add, i try to get something thats been road tested already. by the time i buy a board, cpu or videocard, there are more than enough reviews or user experience etc on tech sites to give you a good idea if its any good or not. and often a better bios has been released etc etc. let someone else be the guinea pig, if not confident building a new pc, get a friend to help or as suggested study up. its very rewarding having built a pc yourself, it will increase your understanding of them greatly, especially yours.
  5. JEFX great points you made about the trackir, sounds very familiar and reading it made me smile. somethings that come to mind for the th2go in the graphics.cfg: the apsect ratio autodetected is 4.000, but try 3.75 the ui can be set to use the centre screen only, yet the in game map view still stretches. @@@ config post here later @@@ i think? the view edits are currently only good for sp as server settings overide the clients view settings. it would be great to get this sorted out for dcs. if not now in a future release/patch, JimMack? although i did have a look at it quickly once, i have no specific th2go software installed, just curious, is there any real advantage in doing so?
  6. the touch-buddy site has a lot of FAQ and help on setting up the tbvp with tb, but i will say this. the next time i set it up from scratch i will document it step by step. for my sake as much as anyone elses :)
  7. sure love getting the blame for this, so have you heard of touch-buddy and LOVP :megalol: and yes we certainly do live in a great time for pc simulation.
  8. this is a good idea, maybe you can decide on a particular track or something to create an even playing field. like quick start f-15 mission, take an initial reading as it starts and then drop to 1000 feet, just an idea. resolution, graphics settings, AA and AF and system config can all have a big effect on things. eg: a guy with a single 19" monitor might not see any gains with sli, but a th2go for instance could be another story altogether. my point is, for those kind enough to respond it might be worth mentioning things like: cpu videocards model and driver version in game resolution in game graphic settings altitude at the time, over cities etc. starting the F-15 quickstart mission / then diving to 1000' in sli: 117/80-90 fps non sli: 129/80-90 fps that seems weird to me, hmmm?
  9. looking good JEFX welcome aboard, enjoy your flight
  10. thanks for the feedback, always updating drivers is a nightmare to me. i used to do it whenever some new beta turned up but now not so often. prefer to wait for the whql for some reason. good to hear they run nicely in lockon and more modern games  your list looks like a solid testing enviroment. and you're right, if i don't try i will never know. for interest sake, what drivers did you have before the new beta 177.79 its good to discuss drivers as each one seems to have a personality as such, maybe image quality variations etc, aa not working or similar. the whql version should be out very soon as this 177.79 is now a candidate for whql, generally it sounds like most people see some gains if only minor. personally i am sticking with the 169.44 for now, a bit scared :) i do agree with you about upgrading to 1 new highend videocard, its just i like to put another one exactly the same right next to it :smilewink: edit: the 179.79 whql version apparently rumoured for release august 5th
  11. any more info on these drivers would be good to hear about, i have been happy for quite a while with my current version 169.44, but am very tempted to step up to the latest offering, just not at the cost of stability if you know where i am coming from. the full shadows thing is a well know issue in lockon and not a big drama, the AA working or not is something i have also come across, but in other games. even while leaving the nvidia quality setting alone and only adjusting AA settings in game, turning it up too much would sometimes turn it off completely? something else i noticed the other day was that enabling v-sink thru nvidia settings majorly reduced my video card temps, instead of running hundreds of fps i guess they are only drawing the 60 fps? anyway, whatever you are playing, lockon or otherwise please tell of your findings on these new 175.19 drivers, thanks.
  12. i hope this is in the 1.13 wish list, forced/locked loadout option for multiplayer missions selected either by the mission builder or prior to the server running the mission. i started pre selecting the client weapons in the missions i was creating, but gave up once i realised they could be changed by the client. good luck with the script.
  13. i have lately really enjoyed the use of tac-view0.92, and have to say it is amazing and a credit to the author. the ability to see what the hell happened, and then easily rewind and review from what ever angle or aircraft and whatever moment in time is brilliant. have recently been experimenting with running a lockon server, selecting record track instead of hitting fly when starting a mission to create a track file . i have been recording the tracks on the server for our amusement/education, and then replaying the tracks in fast fwd to aquire the all important tacview file. when joining a server, does the client have this option to select record track? if this is the case, individuals joining servers without tacview enabled, would then be able to make a tacview file from the track they record themselves. unless i have missed something, wouldn't this be the ideal solution to keep things honest.
  14. not sure what you have tried but i suggest: check the calibration in windows game controllers to see if you are getting any spiking to the left. if so look into the axis curves in the game options and add some deadzone in the middle of the axis, another thing i have had success with is an app called dxtweak2. it allows you to alter the relationship between the raw input curves of the game controller and the actual input sent to the game. for example: on my recently USB converted sfs split f-15 throttle, i changed the throttle axis' to make the after burners just kick in right at the end of the throttle travel, where as originally it was coming on too early, well before the indent or notch. dxtweak2 is a great little app for input devices that aren't performing as well or as accurately as they used to. good luck, hope you get it sorted.
  15. com'n leave the gays out of this :) serious now: as for power supplies i totally agree, why skimp on psu, its most critical for stability. also i hear that thanks to this new physix or cuda business you can now use the gpu for folding@home research etc, nice, just like another cpu core, so they say.

  17. Syncho: 8800 series cards in sli here and no ctd's, so not sure about that one wheres that error log from, is it a vista thing, if so maybe so is the error. Airmad: for a desktop pc, imo the crashing is more likely (in no specific order): a messed up driver issue or a messed up install/game files or a system stability issue eg: psu, ram, heat etc. an 256meg 8400 vid card is i'd say bare minimum, spoil yourself with a more serious card like an 8800gt 512 or better if budget will allow. a good place to start is simple things like: taking the side off and have a fan blow cool air into the case is a good way to check for temp problems, which often only happen after extended gaming sessions. give that a go and see if you still have this crashing. if the problem remains we can look deeper, sorry i have never seen this message you describe. nothing worse than having problems with your favorite titles, lets hope we can help sort it out for you.

  19. wow, looks great, would be good to see the lockon map converted like this, even if its just a one of capture. best of luck -AS-
  20. thanks mustang, you're on the job
  21. i know what your saying and changing the lods sounds like a good work around, have also heard people say not to use AA ? will give the 0.85 a go, cheers --AS--
  22. thankyou.
  23. good info, thanks all. just getting into the almost "dedicated" server myself. so only scenes and civ traffic settings get forced by the server. and on your loc al pc making all 3 scene files as a copy of high, so you always get high scenes no matter the server settings, great thinking. please give details of where and what files need editing to always get high scenes ? as suggested by theGozr we need this kind of thing in an official server setup sticky. and what about load outs? can you force a gunz only scenario? is it possible to limit the choices of available load outs in the pull down list? is there a way to force a certain loadout to all clients, locked by the server or in the mission? or is it always a clients choice to select weapons no matter what? please post more server hints and setup tips. keep em coming for all to benefit. good to have some fresh input on current thinking.
  24. a little slow around here at the moment it is. funny, i thought euro 2008 was a red flag style competition, opened the thread ready for some awesome in flight screenshots etc, great, bloody sport. definitely need some new screens, that sa8 gecko on the homepage is already starting to rust, time for something new to keep the interest.
  25. i have seen this concept once in a multi screen arcarde game, one screen was mirrored leaving just a small, slightly noticeable strip of less intensity where they met.
