Nah, on Monday I flew a mission I built with some other guys in MP and had to shoot down a C-17 and an F-15 I put in there because they basically were about to do the same. Mission was built and run in 1.1.1.1. I have to remenber to change that mission by the way... Supersheep

Would someone in the UK order something for me?
Supersheep replied to -odin-'s topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hello Viper, may I shamelessly use this thread to ask you if you would help me with a similar problem? I spotted an UK-only store listing a very "sought-after" book on that Hog for an attractive price... Supersheep -
Mine do not, so far. I made the mistake to de-activate it before I uninstalled when I was new to DCS and had some technical problems. In the future, I might hit the limit because I had to re-install my OS several times and always de-activated first (got an SSD, then had the Sandforce bug, went back, etc) and am now planning an OS-reinstall because of VAC (I just orderd the english windows version for it...). Now I am at six remaining (I think...). Because I did not know how to use activations, in case I run into the limit, I will invest into a new licence, as it is in effect my fault (and ED can use that money for DCS: AH-1Z Viper:D) At the moment, I am still fine, however. Simple Pause TIR for Warthog??
Supersheep replied to Elnocho3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I used this myself for a time, but that way is not as good as it seems. I started an own thread about my issue, where I learned that the TIR oftware does not distinguish same buttons on different devices. Example: I mapped TrackIR controls to the MIC switch no the Warthog throttle, and every time I hit the pickle button on the joystick, this triggered the TIR to freeze. The buttons are all like JOY1...X on both parts of the HOTAS and TIR ignores this. To circumvent that problem (there is no fix, TIR software is the issue), I mapped the TIR controls to the arrow keys on my keyboard, which I position so that it points away from me. Keeps it out of the way and and the ITR commands in reach. EDIT: Sniped? I think the post above describes still another issue I have not experienced before... /EDIT HTH, Supersheep -
Olgerd, the 15 second-timeout is a time window of 15 seconds starting right after the failed release in which one can try to "re-release" the bomb, correct? Thanks, Supersheep

A crude workaroud I read somewhere, maybe even in that thread: You can make the HUD SOI and set the IFFCC as SPI (TMS down short, correct me if I am wrong). Then slave your TGP to that SPI. Works, gives you the eyes of an eagle, but is highly "nervous". I tried it and decided to refine my gunnery skills instead of trying to hit something this way. Supersheep

I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHERE TO DOWNLOAD Version 1.1.1.0
Supersheep replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I think most here know this longer than I do, but before patching DCS, just copy the DCS-folder to another place. After patching, you have the new and the old version working. Be careful with that Saved Games and/or settings etc, thuogh. Supersheep -
Camera manipulation, Missile seeker camera..
Supersheep replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Another one: I know there is someone here on the forums who edited the Level of detail settings for the cockpit objects so someone with a complete simpit (wtf? :D) can render only the things he would see through the windows. I guess you could fiddle with the mav model and set its LOD to zero so it is there, but not rendered. Or replace it with an "empty" model. Then you can F6 your invisible MAV and edit the resulting video. BTW, I like Mosley's idea more than mie above, after I read mine again... That depends on which MAV you want to show, I assumed those who fly in an arc and climb first. That is why I suggested the TGP, the Mav would breack lock. If I find that thread -it is really old- I will post a link here. -
When I was getting those breakaways, I was too high. I now approach the tanker with my TVV a very little below the end of the boom. When I am within 10 feet (cannot really tell) I put the TVV on the end of the boom and slowly dvance. When the operator pulls the boom up, I continue on that path "to where the end was before" and do not follow the boom. Generally, I think you are too high and the tanker gets paranoid when you are too fast, too. Exactly my mistakes :) I am clocking up some time on AAR and, ehm, it slowly gets better. Supersheep
-
I made some progress here. Now I am able to get on the boom without that KC making a breakaway call, in one flight 18 times in half an hour. Unfortunately, that means that I disconnect just as often. I guess I fail to judge if I am too far forward/aft and/or up/down, so I correct wrong. What really helped me was the tip to move the throttle a bit to adjust the speed, but pull it back in a matter of seconds. Only when I notice that I keep correcting in the same direction (faster/slower) multilple times, I finally adjust the throttle accordingly. I still find it difficult to make the A10 go a foot or two forward (or aft) instead of "a foot per second", though. Different issue: I cannot get the tanker to orbit at a defined speed and altitude. While I can reuel while it is moving from A to B, that plane gets slower and slower until I think the tanker stalls every second now. I once saw 165 knots indicated (no wind). I set up a tanker, give it the task "tanker", create a waypoint for it and then command it to orbit at 18000 with 230 knots. Hesimply ignores it. Supersheep

Keeping TM Warthog plugged in?
Supersheep replied to Rocky49's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Got mine in july, updated the firmware right after I unboxed it and since then never bothered with unplugging. Ocassionally, (ss/cc???) I unplug it for other reasons (need ports, unplug wrong device) but no problems whatsoever. Supersheep -
Hi! Is there a way to make sure that ATC always advises the runway I set a follow me-cart (like in the Hideout mission) up to drive to? Or is this only done via the wind direction (again as visible in the Hideout mission)? Thanks, Supersheep

Camera manipulation, Missile seeker camera..
Supersheep replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi Noc, not that I have any idea about the technical side of this (or a mod that would bring up the video feed), but could you boresight the TGP and fly the hog so that it mimics the video from the MAV? Maybe you can find a creative way to get rid of the TGP "crosshair" (declutter first), for example overlay it with a shifted (e. g. to the upper right) copy of the video and then treat the whole thing with a gaussian blur. You can crank up the MFD resolution in the options of DCS so the video from the TGP is not too devastated by the blurring. In IR mode, you adjust gain/level to simulate the "MAV-look" and edit the video so that it behaves like a MAV (speed it up according to newtons laws, insert the "targeting gates" (you get that I mean...), insert a small black-out when fired and static when it *should* impact the target etc.). Did I mention that I have no experience with this? If impossible, please say so and then disregard ;) Supersheep -
Cockpit Actuator @Paulrkiii or anyone else knowledgeable: Is it correct that the canopy actuator is simulated so that can be operated with no power systems active? No track provided, just load the stock ramp start mission and before doing anything else, hit the canopy button. Niiiniiniingh, canopy closed. No power whatsoever. D'oh or directly wired to the battery? I imagine the latter (how would you open a cold, closed aircraft?) Thanks! Supersheep

Hi! Supersheep

Cockpit settings, data cartrage, and handling.
Supersheep replied to wess24m's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
If you want to really build missions (I am not that far yet), you could set up one with ONLY the aircraft set up correctly. Each time you want to start building, you load this mostly empty mission and then create the rest. I am not sure how flexible that is (not tried yet), different loadouts will be an issue, but things like slew rate etc should be ready, then. Will certainly speed up testing and building at least, I think. Supersheep -

Completely off topic: @bluepilot76 You are sure you are running 8 gigs of DDR5 memory? THATs what I call a geek ;) back on topic: I can only offer three office folders (dunno hose things in english) with about 500 pages each, strictly limited to DCS, plus Smallwood's Hogs. Does that qualify?

I think I read this in Paulrikiii's really great and commendable guide for/from the 25th (please confirm/disprove if appropriate!): Some advice says that to set your dive angle, roll 90 degrees (unloaded roll) plus the degrees you want to dive. Then pull Gs until you are aligned and roll back 90 degrees (unloaded roll again). If my imagination hasn't failed me, that sounds quite right. Not sure if this is what you said by "rolling in", though...? Supersheep

"only at 1680x1050" Brilliant, exactly my need! ;) A question: Is it really like you can see around the goggle as in your video? I have never used such a device, but always thought they would block a bigger part of the FOV. I also thought the contrast between the screen and the peripheral vision would "dim out" the surrounding area more. Just my unqualified thoughts, though. Again, outstanding work in this thread! A few questions regarding A-10C (hardware)
Supersheep replied to Joker_Her3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My opinion: Go for a TrackIR instead of the MFDs. I cannot imagine flying without them (tried to for some time), but I am delaying the MFDs as they are not really essential. Exept you succeed in setting up FreeTrack ok, that is. Supersheep
