  1. So, you just skip the "best practice"? Who am I to judge anyway... ;)
  2. Couldn't notice any excessive strain whatsoever. BTW, nothing to do with nosegear failure, but I think you didn't have 40% speedbrakes before touch down? I think 40% speedbrakes is the normal procedure. Just curious.
  3. See this thread (= general tips using Helios): http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1332078#post1332078 Multimonitor-/Helios -related threads: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60815 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70716 Some things have changed with the newest versions of DCS sims, so the first messages of these threads are probably a bit out of date.
  4. I think I had the same problem with my touch screen, but managed to fix it by tweaking some Windows Control Panel Display settings. Cannot remember the details any more, because it was over a year ago. BTW, perhaps you already noticed but the screen picks up some ridiculous amount of finger print marks. The screen looks kinda filthy after some hours of use. You can see the marks especially during daylite when the monitor is off.
  5. I think this is the reason. You cannot nosewheel steer with high speed.

  7. RWR shows the L symbol, meaning laser illumination.
  8. Agree. With DCS you don't need more RAM. If you are going to run virtual machines or do heavy video editing with your PC, then there might be some advantage of the extra 16 gigs. But not with DCS gam... errr...sims. :D
  9. See this message: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1250792&postcount=32 BUT, read the whole thread thru as well...: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76856

  11. All my monitors support the VESA 100 mounting stardard. That is a very essential thing to me when I choose my monitors. Two of my current three monitors are VESA-mounted (removed their original stands). Only the third one is still with its own stand, but it supports the VESA mount as well.
  12. I think that the Acer is almost the only option to consider. I have an HP, but that model is not available any more, I think.
  13. But you can disable Ground Safe.
  14. Not very epic, but I often forget to turn off the external lights. I've seen some youtube videos as well where people fight the enemy with all lights on. :)
  15. .... show you that the runway is actually kinda slippery thing... For fun, I've trained landing without anti-skid. Especially if you engage your wheel brakes very soon after the touchdown (with anti-skid disabled), you'll find out that phenomenon.
  16. You don't need your calculator if you just monitor your AoA Indexer/Indicator. :)
  17. I've tried it as well. Seems to kinda work, I mean at least the focus will be somehow altered. But no significant final result.

  20. Sounds just like my experiences with TIR5. I felt completely comfortable with it, with default settings. With flying. However, I don't like it with Rally games. I mean driving a car with it doesn't feel good for me at all.
  21. I have to clarify my previous message a bit, so you don't have false impression: The tanker speed was just right when I was refuelling. But after telling he's gonna RTB, the tanker speeded up considerably and I couldn't keep up.
  22. Fish shoes are nice as well: :) EDIT: Speaking of fish, lets add the classic "Fish Tank Heel Shoes" too: ;)
  23. BTW, the tanker seemed to be a real "fast mover" compared with my A-10C. I almost lost it because A-10C is so damn slow.
  24. ^^ Kinda funny video! Once I had a hard contact with the tanker and the tanker lost its whole left wing -> lotsa smoke. I thought the tanker would dive into the sea as usual, but it just kept flying. No problem, one wing left seems to be enough . I decided to follow the tanker and see if something's gonna happen. It took maybe 15 minutes and then the captain of the tanker (still spreading smoke and flying with one wing only) told he is gonna RTB. I followed the tanker as it landed. No problem with landing at all. On the runway I tried to overtake the tanker. However, I hit the invisible left wing (which somehow was still there...) and we both exploded. :D
