Both methods are pretty close to each other. I found out that the "300 feet per nautical mile" -method (introduced by Loz in this thread) suits me well. I have used that from the very beginning of my DCS A-10C adventure.

There is no shortcut. You just have to train and learn. It takes time, weeks at least. Maybe months. You just have to go thru the tutorials and read the manuals as well. And watch youtube tutorial videos too. And read threads of this forum. Maybe some more experienced pilots could teach you online? Even with the latest Catalyst 12.8 drivers there will be flashing white boxes? Haven't tried them, I'm still running the version 11.6 drivers.

Does it work OK with the latest DSC World A-10C version? I think that the latest standalone (v.1.1.1.1) still failed? :confused:

Horizontal line is the West-East line. It is visible. It is not perpendicular because of the perspective.

By the way, I have noticed that there are no sufficient information about ground procedures, about radio communications with ATC (landing, taxiing and take-off) and ground crew, about using ground power, about using the external lights, about refueling and rearming etc. etc. in the official documentation pdf-files. This forum is the only place to get the necessary tips and information. Maybe there should be a specific chapter for these things in the manual?

Haven't installed DCS World yet, but with the standalone v1.1.1.1 the tower gives you the "cleared for visual, contact tower" -line when your distance is about 6 nm from the airport. However, if you try to contact the tower immediately after that line, the tower won't answer. The tower will answer only after you are within approx. 5 nm. So, because you have to wait a bit before asking for the clearance, it's pretty easy to forget to contact the tower, and ATC will give you an "automatic" clearance just before landing.

I always (auto)lase for 10 secs. Perfect hit every time. 12 000 ft or something like that.

GBU-12 is laser guided, so no need for wind correction AFAIK.

If you for example turn on the autopilot and fly straight ahead to your target (tens of miles) you'll lose the alignment. But the cure is simple. You just have to turn a bit.

Is HD6950 or HD6970 too slow for you. I mean if you just "downgrade". At least my Asus DCII card has support for 6 displays. 11.6 version drivers work best with DCS A-10C, by the way. Maybe you should re-google "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." and use the google filter to narrow down the hits into the last month or so, or search specifically with your card model (= 7970).
