UPDATED !!! As Operation's "Pontus" campaign goal is to offer a different experience to each player by providing a dynamic environment, we thought that it would be nice to include a thread of decisions and tips that we followed during our own missions. We are so happy for the release of the campaign that it's a pleasure to start it all over again anyways, like i have never played it before (despite the endless hours of testing and going though the campaign numerous times before the release). Phase 1: Mission 1 So here Ι am in Mission One. After a short flight over the coast of Georgia the time has come to face my biggest dilemma, to refuel or not to refuel. That is the question. The decision was made... To not refuel and head straight to the target range. A decision i had to pay in the next mission, of course, since my points were reduced.. After that i had to face my biggest fear.... Night CASE III recovery...I was more than happy to safe and sound on the deck of the carrier and without delay my XO's voice sounded over the radio giving me a heads up for the next mission. "We need to achieve Air superiority". Phase 2: Mission Planner One big feature of Operation "Pontus" campaign, is the usage of the Mission Planner which helps to manage your squadron (payload, own waypoints etc). Our main goal is to achieve air superiority first and to reduce enemy air defense capabilities before being able to execute CAS & Strike missions. So i decided to load Fish, Hooters, Pickles AA weapons and Trimmer with good almighty AGM88s. Selected Payload: - Fish: 4x AIM120C, 2x AIM-9x and one centerline. - Hooters: 4x AIM120C, 2x AIM-9x one centerline. - Pickles: 4x AIM120C, 2x AIM-9x one centerline. - Trimmer: 2x AGM-88, 2x AIM-9x one centerline. And for my package: 4x AIM120C, 2x AIM-9x one centerline. Phase 3: Start up and takeoff. Once I was in cockpit, i was ready to assign tasks to my squadron. Though the F10 menu, i assigned the following: -Fish: CAP to BRAVO -Hooters: CAP to BRAVO -Pickles: CAP to Charlie -Trimmer: SEAD I quickly started starting up the aircraft. In the phase when I was waiting the INS alignment, I inserted though the F10 menu the code I acquired during the end of mission 1. But I just input it. Didn't submit it yet. Once my aircraft was ready I asked for the crew to remove my wheel chocks and slowly I was taxing to take my place in CAT I. It was that time that I thought it's the right moment to submit the code. Phase 4: On route to fight. Once I was airborne, I quickly turned my radio to button 2 Darkstar Freq. And set course to WP 1. After a small chit chat with my number 2, I reached WP1 and begin to orbit waiting my turn to check in. Once it was my turn I took a quick look into the matrix code in my kneeboard, I authenticated and I was on my way to own the skies of Georgia. Phase 5: The fight. Just a few minutes after my check in, the first contacts appeared on my radar and the AWACS was started to give picture to all the packages. Fish, Hooters and Pickles were the tip of the spear, me and my wingman where following while Hooters in the back started firing these AGM in an effort to silence enemy air defenses. A few moments later we were able to suppress the first wave of the enemy and it was then that I took the decision to order RTB Pickles and Hooters, since I wanted to have the least casualties. A couple of planes later and a loss on my side, I decided that it was time to head to mother. So I ordered Fish and Hooters to RTB. Summary. With this strategy, I was able to give a big hit to the enemy without suffering significant losses. Someone else using lighter armament could give a bigger hit, since the airplanes would be more agile and fast. Conclusion: Its player may choose a different strategy, even for the same stage, he/she can replay the mission changing roles, weapons, give different orders and finally, order the package to return to mother with different results every time based on their performance.

Operation Pontus: general information
petritis replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Operation Pontus Campaign
Thanks for your notice. We will check it and let you know. In the next stages it should be ok. Please let us know. if you have the same issues. -
Hey, if you wait a bit the marks will disappear and only one will be left that indicates the target. You can then zoom in into that mark and see the target, its coordinates and its elevation in order to edit your WP in mission planner.
-
Hey!! Once you land an the coordinates appear like you are showing in the picture, use F10 map. After a few seconds you will see a red circle that indicates the target for the next mission. You can zoom in order to see what is your target. It will be easier for you to printscreen the target area and use this image in the next mission's planner. Hope that helps! I am posting an image of a different target that might help you.

Hey! In first mission there is only one instance that you will use the F10 menu, this happens when you get to choose if you want to go for refueling or not. Whether you decide to refuel or skip it, you then have to go to target range (WP7). Once you hit the targets you will receive a message that you are cleared to return to mother. After you land you have to wait a bit until you hear your virtual XO. Just check that you completed all the stages before going to land.

Operation Pontus: general information
petritis replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Operation Pontus Campaign
The duration of every mission is really up to you and your strategy. For example you can make a fast bomb run or a SEAD mission and head back to mother. Once you land the mission will be over and your performance will be recorded and change the campaign's progress. Only the first mission is predefined with standard procedures and WPs like every other campaign. So the duration is really up to you, there might be some cases that you may be more effective in small duration mission, due to better planning, than a long one. For more information please read the FAQ that Baltic posted. Hope i helped! -
It has to do with the campaign's encryption, the issue is reported to ED. You can change their payload, but their roles are predefined at the moment This post will update all the time.

Thanks! Mission should be fixed with the next update

Operation Pontus - upcoming dynamic DLC campaign
petritis replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Missions and Campaigns
We will be able to share more info in a few days. :smilewink: -
Hey DimSim, vehicles at Batumi are located under the spotlight near the terminal. I will check all the things you mentioned and if needed we will provide an update. As for mission lighting unfortunately most of the videos you see on Youtube are on v1.5. After the 2.5 release we almost had to rebuilt the entire campaign due to DCS changes in order to make it playable. Lightning is one of the most affected things on 2.5

:):):):) Happy to assist! Hope you enjoy it.

It seems that your TM is making a conflict when you press Num- and it doesn't allow you to fully lower the collective unless you unplug the USB. This is a hardware - settings issue rather than a Campaign Bug. Did you check in Options - Controls - UH1-H Sim in Axis tune whether when you move the CH pro the collective reaches zero? It might need a fine tune. :smilewink:
-
We are sorry to see that you gave up. Since you are landing in a straight surface with no big winds blowing in the area and so close to a crowd, it is safer to fully lower the collective to idle. It is almost common practice in real life cases. We hope that you will give it another go and enjoy our campaign. :smilewink:
-
Hey, in order to proceed, you need to fully lower the collective down, in case that you are and it is not working press multiple times NUM- this will bring the collective down. Just land in front of the CH-130. Hope it helps. :)

Light on refueling probe doesn't illuminate the basket
petritis replied to Paco's topic in Bugs and Problems
On the other hand if you order your AI wing man to hit the tanker at night, his probe illuminates fine. But i didn't make it to light my own, although in external view i can see a small dimmed light.
