I agree, the A-20 Havoc would be my choice too,as I have pointed out in a previous thread,it is the ideal bomber for a DCS module. As you have said Art,it was a very common sight over Normandy,so it makes sense to have this.

When can we expect the Spitfire Mk. IX Template?
Basco1 replied to VH-Rock's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
+1 We do need this, and sooner rather than later please. -
Greg, try a repair of your DCS World, that looks as if it's missing texture files,at least you'll know your install is ok if nothing else.

Thanks for the confirmation gents,ok,yes as I thought, there is NO StuG......right,what I'm after,if at all possible,is the most popular,or common StuG,which was the StuG III,that's the model I'd like devs,if your reading this.

Are you sure ?......I don't think we do.

As others have pointed out as soon as the damage model of the B-17 is improved, the 88's won't be as effective. You all know,at present the Ai B-17's are way too weak, and get destroyed as if they were made of balsa wood, this is where DCS need to target improvement, and I'm sure they are aware of this flaw. After all, they weren't called ' Flying Fortresses ' for nothing.I usually, nay, always fly the Spit and P-51,but couldn't resist myself flying a Fw190 when the AI B-17G's were released to see how the damage model of the B-17 stacked up. Now I'm no fighter ace by any chalk, but I was destroying them as if they were penny arcade rifle targets,in most cases after a minimal amount of hits, the wings just fell off.

As Normandy is now well and truly here, flying around this excellent map,I can't help but think that what would be great is a flyable bomber. There are so many excellent targets of opportunity to be had. Now I appreciate the work to develop a flyable B-17G would be a very labour intensive task, however,as the A-20 Havoc and B-26 bombers are now being developed as Ai aircraft, these surely would make great little bomber modules to make flyable, and for DCS to have it's first WWII bomber. They both have less engines, less turrets than the B-17 to create, and would make fine bombers to get us all started. DCS is lacking a bomber IMO,and these would be both ideal modules. Now I appreciate to create both modules would be an impossible task, but to have either one of these bombers would be fantastic. Both bombers figured highly during the battles of Normandy,so they would match the Normandy scene perfectly.

An ask to the devs....... As there were around 190 Sturmgeschutz or StuG's (Turretless assault guns) operational in Normandy during the 1944 battle, would it be possible to add these units to the asset pack at a future date please ? If they have been considered and are part of the master plan, please disregard this message.

Just a little tip guys......for you new guys joining in combat for the first time on the multiplayer servers.........switch off your navigation beacons. We,your enemy, can see you a mile off,and it makes it very easy for us to nail you as soon as your airborne,it's like taking candy off a baby.

The cockpit area lighting still requires attention IMO,it looks to me as if there is an interior light permanently switched on,and this doesn't come across as being very realistic. This is with the deferred lighting on,maybe I should switch this off,to be perfectly honest I think the devs have done a sterling job with Normandy and 2.1.1,and this really is my only gripe.

Interest for more historical skins for the K-4?
Basco1 replied to JST's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Yes please JST love your work,we want more !!! -
Beautiful, top work Sir,looking forward to these appearing.

My Mk IX every time.......although I love them both, the Pony has the added advantage of being able to ground pound, with it's rockets and bombs, but in a straight dogfight the Spit has my vote.

Re the update,I would just like to say a very big thank you to all at ED. The work that has been put in is outstanding guys, and the quality of the product is really fantastic, making Normandy 44 an absolute pleasure to fly. I would also like to take time out in thanking both Big Newy and Sithspawn for their very patient help in sorting out all our little update issues with amazing speed, the quality of their customer support is very much appreciated. Re Today's update and the extended WWII Assets Pack, which has had new units added to it,my question is does anyone know what those new additions are? I've seen the update change list today, but it doesn't inform you what new additions have been added, only that the WWII Assets Pack has been extended and that new units have been added. Thanks

Great work DOL,thank you very much for your efforts Sir.

DCS: Me 262 Discussion (Development on hold currently)
Basco1 replied to NineLine's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Agreed,it also had the unfortunate turn rate of an oil taker too, this is where the tight turning Mustangs got the better of it,this and attacking them when they came into land,so agreed, they weren't invincible by any means. -
Yeah,he had me wondering what was going on as well,lol,......no,it's update day today guys !........Wednesday is now our new update day. Looking for a few gifts from Ed myself, mainly the Gamma slider and maybe some FLAK if we're lucky,to set those multiplayer servers alight with WWII atmosphere.

+1 Not many.

How to make effective combat turns: tips/advice/suggestions
Basco1 replied to Gnat's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Just the basics bud,if you want to make an acute turn in combat you don't want your kite climbing or diving, that is,not if you hadn't intended it to do so,so trimming out the elevator is mandatory. Getting the rudder neutral buy correcting your slip and turn indicator is also a must do,as again you don't want your kite moving off a single degree in the flight path you guide it to. So in short, get these two procedures corrected after successfully taking off, and you have an aircraft that is performing for you,not arguing with you. -
How to make effective combat turns: tips/advice/suggestions
Basco1 replied to Gnat's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Trim is your friend, after taking off, take a little time out and ensure you have the Spit really well trimmed, and I mean, take your feet off of the rudder pedals and study what your slip and turn gauge is telling you. Trim your rudder so that your flying straight, after this trim your elevator so that your Spit has the best aero advantage,ie your aircraft is not climbing (losing energy) and not descending too much. I'm no ace by any chalk, but I know these two tweaks are life savers, after this advice,I'll bow to the combat master's advice, and let them take their Master class to a level beyond mine. -
+1 Yes,well done Joey,top man
