  1. Weird. I had though otherwise, but now, not so much. Guess I didn't think it through enough. I now see that as you approach the sound at a faster rate, you increase the frequency you contact the sound pulses (whup-whups), and thus the speeded up sound. I was just thinking it was a change in pitch without thinking WHY it was changing... Thanks :)
  2. Just noticed, but it seems that doppler affects of approaching vehicles is not pitch-shifted as you'd expect but rather the sound file is sped up slowed down to achieve the sound change. Not really noticeable in most vehicles, but helicopters are easy to spot it. Instead of changing pitch, the whup-whup-whup increases or decreases as you approach or move away. It should be pitch change only, but as it is, if you move fast enough away, it sounds like the rotor blades are slowing to a stop. I'm sure this isn't a bug, exactly, just a way of coding the pitch changes. Just thought it was interesting when I noticed it. :)
  3. I wonder if that's what happening on the other end of the games I've gotten that same message? After getting that message, I restart MP as quickly as I can, but sometimes the server I was on is no longer listed.
  4. Anyone else have frequent crashes "DCS World has stopped working" while in multiplayer? I seem to get it a lot. And saying that, I sort of inadvertently had a server up running Dragon's Red Cross map, in that I intended to run a server so that I could play the Red Cross map, but really didn't pay attention to player count and such, or make it local. A few people logged on and seemed to enjoy themselves for a bit but I had the above error and ended up shutting everything down. Sorry about that :/
  5. Ok, I get a JDAM cannot be cleared when it's ABORTED, but is that the same as a HUNG store? Does the procedure not work at all for gbu-12 (et al) or mk-8X's either?
  6. So the previous procedures of reloading the station no longer work?
  7. Oh, I've proven that false countless times. The A10 intecepts missiles JUST FINE. :D
  8. None at all. For even better results, mount a couple TGPs on the tail as well. Then you will see EVERYTHING. :music_whistling:
  9. It's a setting you use while in the cockpit. Not sure of the exact key commands but you can zoom in and zoom out. A very functional tool for maintaining situation awareness.
  10. For sim AI, that shot is taken every time. And it kills.
  11. There is splash damage. Close isn't always close enough. Also, some rockets are frag-type and some are penetrators. Gotta use the right tool for the right job. As to the fan speed, that's normal. There are more than a few posts explaining why.
  12. Search google for 'dcs a10c hung store', there are a couple videos on youtube and at least one pdf that show how to clear and reload station
  13. Thank you! The text was in German, so thought it was just continuing the paragraph above it. Was playing the Rookie Terrorists on a server last night and wanted to give it a try w/o horrendous lag.
  14. Are these missions available for anyone, or just members of STP? The link in the first post goes to what looks like a forum, but the only thing showing is 'teamspeak' channels?
  15. You are right. With gbu-12's being free fall, I can't get them far apart enough to move my laser to another target. I dropped the about 4s apart (40deg or so ccip), but since I was traveling the same path, they ended up being close in space anyway. So though they dropped 4s apart, they landed about just over a second apart, not long enough to move the spot. I'm thinking I've done this before in another sim, using glide bombs from much longer distance. Not sure if it was DI's Tornado IDS, SH's Falcon3 or Falcon4, or something I've forgotten. But I do remeber using a targeting pod and lasing a target, then moving to another target right next to it. Oh, well.
  16. a10c real > laste control settings laap: path hold/altitude hold/altitude,heading
  17. Not easy, but doable. Just zoom out enough with tgp to see most of your targets, pickle bombs 2s apart, first one hits, move the tgp cursor to the next. Two targets wouldn't be too hard, but any more than that might be a tad difficult.
  18. Learn how to use the CDU. If your wingman, or any other flight, are calling out targets, you can use those callouts by entering them into the CDU. There are a few youtube vids, and once you do it a couple times, it gets pretty easy.
  19. Maybe the rounds are so dense they just go through the heli like paper, only making little holes? ap round 1:"Did you feel that?" ap round 2: "Feel what?" ap round 1: " I think I just hit a helicopter. Sorta tickled a bit." ap round 2: "Well, it wasn't a tank, so who cares...Aw, damn, not rocks again..."
  20. Hmmm...that would be from one of those skeets I saw flying upside down (copper side up). I'll make a track asap. Just tried a moment ago, skeets were fine...I'll keep watching for it, though.
  21. When adding static structures, there is a check box for "dead"
  22. Well, the other way to switch that is by using the UFC, but that takes a couple of button pushes to switch modes, which it doesn't sound like you're doing. So, I am at a loss, for the moment.
  23. If there is no "M" on the screen indicating masking, then you might try changing modes (optical and w/bhot modes). Sometimes one of the other modes will work a little better.
  24. for ils, the directions ATC are giving you are for a point several miles out from the end of the runway at 'pattern altitude' which is 2k-3k feet. When you turn toward the runway, the ils localizer bar (vertical bar) and the glide path indicator (horizontal bar) should be somewhat close to center. ATC is not telling you how to get to the runway/base, but where to be so that you can intercept the ILS correctly. for the flight path lines on the TAD, you need to set your steerpoint dial to flight plan
  25. Masking is not referring to the target. The TGP has a built in 'mask' of the aircraft, so that when the tgp is 'masked' it will prevent firing of the laser. Even if you can see something with the tgp, it can still be 'masked' There is an indicator on the TGP image bottom center. If there is an 'm' then it is masked. Since the TGP doesn't know what stores you're carrying, the 'mask' will take into account EVERY thing you could be carrying, even if plane is completely free of any stores. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=86738&highlight=tgp+masking
