try this: most missions have an IP. Fly towards this waypoint. Once you get close, set the 'autopilot' to ALT, bank away from then waypoint following the IP waypoint, and activate the 'autopilot' You are now near the action but still at a safe distance. You are in a stable orbit. NOW it's time to go to work. With HUD as SOI, change your current waypoint from IP to the next (this should, usually, be the target area. Set TGP as SOI, hit "C" (slave to strpt). Now your tgp is LOOKING at target area. Now move the tgp and search for targets. You can mark them if you like or just find one, attack, fly back to a safe area and set up another orbit then attack again. It took me a while to get this pattern down, as I was just reading and watching youtube videos. Watch "Dragon's JTAC training" on youtube. Very good video.

I've heard it said that leaving lights on at night over enemy allows them to track/attack you more easily. Is this actually modeled?

Hawg 2-1: this would be you Magic: AWACS plane Pop Up Group: something just popped up on our radar 279: could be either the bearing (direction) from Bullseye, or from you. Might depend on your game settings. I'd have to verify, but am at work. for 30: 30 nautical miles 3500 Hot: altitude 3500, coming in your direction 30-270 are compass directions. in this case DON"T approach from the North/NW position. approach from any compass direction from 30 (NNE) to 270 (West)

Ha! Did this in MP a few weeks back. Took off, heard a 'bang', looked around but didn't see anything wrong, kept climbing. Then someone chatted that my canopy blew off. Ah, so THAT's what that noise was. Continued the mission with no further issues.

The penny-thing is false. In a vacuum, the penny's speed would increase enough, maybe, to do that. The terminal velocity of a penny, combined with it's weight, just isn't enough do much damage. Would hurt, but not much more than that. Also, was watching Generation Kill, and there's a scene where a Cobra attack helicopter was firing it's chain gun. The empty shells rained downed on the troops sitting below.

Yup. Was in a negative-g push and released: bomb floated up into me, BOOM.

What Paganus said. You should install dcs world to it's own, separate folder/directory. You can easily install both steam version and dcs world/a10c plugin, and run whichever one you wish. As others have stated here, installing to the non-standard folder (ie, install outside of windows/program files folders), will allow you to utilize mods more easily.

Well, you can't really do a cannon-ectomy while flying, but I'm curious to know if shooting off all the rounds will lighten the load a bit. Granted, since the shells remain behind, all your losing is the weight of the projectile and the burned up powder. You get to keep the weight of all that brass.

Try this for a small challenge (my crappy, first, only submitted mission): http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/181023/ Using the Mavs like they did on the A-10A way back when (at least per Warthog: Flying the A-10 in the Gulf War)

Just put an CBU-105 AT sub-munition into space

Doesn't seem to happen too often, but I've seen at least one puck ejected upside down and firing upwards (the copper disk facing upwards instead of towards ground). Can't find 'em when looking for it, but it happens. -
Seems to me he flew the plane, then went back in to view the track and switched views after the fact. Might be wrong, but that seems most likely.

Is there another way to engage with the cannon, that's not as 'safe'? :music_whistling:

Try this at home, for those that have trouble with the tgp compass: Take two Popsicle sticks. Tie/tape them together to form a cross. On one of the tips, write the letter "N". Now, point the "N" north and lay it on the ground. Walk about 50 feet away. Using a pair of binoculars, look at your popsicle stick cross laying on the ground. Pretty much the exact same thing. :) Interesting side note: was watching the video for the SpaceX Dragon capsule re-entry, there was an exact duplicate of the tgp compass, only it was as though you were UNDER the compass, since the tracking plane was well below the capsule. As the capsule moved below the tracking plane, the compass turned into a line. It was really cool to see that and know exactly what it was!

Why not defrag an SSD? I'm sure it'll run better if you put all the data as close to the cable connection as possible.

First disk of this should be arriving from Netflix very soon.

The volume does work, but it's more or less on/off. Might make a difference if there is a locked tone, but the less invasive 'searching' tone doesn't seem to change much until the volume is all the way down.

LOL! There are no birds in this game. The 'birds' setting is just a prevalence of birdstrike failure.

Here's a quick question: for radar sams, does the vehicle, occupied by a CA player, emit radiation as it would w/o that player controlling vehicle?

Contact jtac, clear the targets they assign, then make sure any other targets along the route are taken out. Then tell your ground platoons to move out. Last thing you want to do is send your bradleys in with a tank you missed waiting for them.

Pave penny would look forward, searching for reflected laser on a target. The TISL (target information set laser) button next to the ils, tcn buttons would activate it, giving steering guidance using the yellow bars on your ADI.

Maybe try a couple thousand pounders? The -38s are a bit small against a bunker. I know the fireworks are still there, as I've blown up random buildings and they have them. I didn't even know they were there until I kept hearing explosions when using ctrl-f11 to look around at some bombed tanks. Looked around and saw what looked like firework artillery shells going up. It was just a building that was hit by tank fire, but it kept 'booming'.

What is needed is a way to input coordinates, similar to the cdu on the hog. Maybe using 10 numbers instead of the six in the hog.

Oh, it's true alright. braking sucks in the wet. I just loaded up a quick test to try it out. Hit the brakes after accelerating a bit and almost did a 360 degree sliding spin.

Radio Problems - Why wont they work?
Evil.Bonsai replied to Ghoullees's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Post a trk file? Might be helpful. Are your problems ONLY with simple comms? I've had no issues at all with realistic comms. they work just fine.
