  1. Hi! I'm enjoying the complexity of this set of missions, but sometimes it frustrates me a lot that the mission doesn't tell you anything if you do it right or wrong, so I come here. In the TAC 12 mission I got all targets destroyed till I get the convoy call. The JTAC is supposed to IR mark the convoy but I can't see any laser pointer with the NVG, although I can see the moving trucks no problem. The JTAC asked me to use rockets, but I only destroyed 2 trucks with the rocket pass and got out of rockets, so I turned in and finish it off with the gun. I got the Shack call and the "target destroyed" from the JTAC, and then... silence. No further tasking, nothing, until I got out of time, and I had to call "end of vul" No response either from the JTAC. No response at all from the FE. So I tried to exit the range on charlie and as expected I got the Knock it off message for leaving the range. Since the mission has so many triggers I wonder what I did wrong. And in case it was for using the gun after exhausting my rockets, well, at least they could tell you "mission failed" or "don't use other weapons" or whatever. So at this point I don't know if it is some kind of bug with the new update or just that I did something wrong, the triggers stop working and the mission is failed (but nobody tells you)
  2. I usually do well with markpoints. In the Enemy within campaign where a lot of flying usually is done in valleys and such, I used the HSI course arrow to fix the main valley inbound and outbound route, so I can find myself when things start going south. I never tried using the TAD in EXP mode, but after reading some tips here I will surely do, it looks like a nice way to keep SA as well.
  3. Yep, just that. In fact I tried to replicate the problem and the usual VRS recovery (just get some velocity in any horizontal axis) works. I get out of the downwash and I have lift again. If you want to induce VRS it is easy. Get autohover, disable autocollective and drop the collective for 1 second and then apply collective again. There you have a brick Gazelle
  4. Well, I've done some research and it looks that I've been introduced to Vortex Ring State in all its glory. I will work smoothly on my collective to avoid this.
  5. Hi everyone! I started playing the campaign and... well, let's say I'm not doing fine. I try to use pop up from behind trees and other cover in order to minimize my exposure. I locate the target, find a nice piece of solid cover, ridge or calve in a forest and I set to auto hover while out of sight. I prepare everything, Master arm, viviane, select HOT tube... I disengage auto collective and I pop up, aquire target, fire (or cover in case I'm too close and being shot at) and then DISASTER! When I cut a bit the collective to go back in cover, the helo just drops like a brick. I try to apply more collective and at first it looks like it stops falling down, but then it keeps falling and I eventually crash into ground. I never apply torque over the Red line so... why is this happening? Any advice will be welcomed.
  6. For what I have read, the "on rails" sensation the flight model has is because of the SAS, but the Gazelle flies that way. In fact I had the same sensation when I transitioned from the Su25T to the A10C. The SAS just makes everything easier. And in case you don't want to use it, just disconnect it. You will experience raw helicopter madness then. I'm not a Gazelle pilot, but if the developers said real french Gazelle pilots tested the flight model and said it was close to reality, why should we be suspicius?
  7. Also concerning the throttle, sorry I didn't realize your problem. The throttle in the Hog has two positions, idle and off. To "bump" from off to idle you need to either have a Warthog throttle or other similar HOTAS with detents to configure them and "detect" the bump, or just use RAlt + Insert and RCtrl + insert to start each one of the engines. The whole process is explained in the training missions. Practice with them if you haven't already :)
  8. You can still click the knobs even if the throttle is in the middle. IIRC it is left click for decreasing and right click for increasing. Starting frequency is 124 by default, so for Batumi you need to left click the second knob 3 times and right click the first one 1 time. Anyway, even if you don't ask for startup clearance everything is fine. You can even forget about it and start rolling. The ATC will give you runway anyway if you are in the correct frequency. Or you can just request startup when both the turbines are running. Just push a bit the throttle and hold brakes so the plane doesn't move to avoid conflict with the EGI align. Concerning your Track IR issues, I think you can bind one key to elevate the pilot seat, so your neutral head position will be higher, and you will be able to see the nav gauge.
  9. Mark my words, when you progress in that campaign you will miss being at altitude. Concerning your problem, you need to use your mk1 eyeball to find the targets location first, then look which path in to the valley will be better to follow in order to lock the target with the TDC ot the TGP. Good use of markpoints is also paramount, since the TGP will usually gimball lock after a few passes, because you will always turn the same side. Other trick is to order your wingman to attack the objective and use the TAD to SPI the wingman SPI and then slave your TGP to it. But specially, be patient. The CLA has nasty surprises for you. Make good use of flares even if you think there are no threats.
  10. I know, my problem is that currently my rig cannot run 2.5 so I can't play MP. I bought it looking forward to being FAO in MP games and also because it is fun.
  11. Oh, I haven't noticed. Since instant missions were very basic and it has no custom missions, I didn't bother with campaigns. Good to know!
  12. I bought it two days ago. It is my first helo, so I can't comment on the difference with the others but all I can tell you is that I have already clocked 4 hours in all 3 variants + probably the same in training missions. I'm loving it. The only thing I don't like is the lack of missions and content, but thanks to that I'm finally messing with the mission editor. I already have two practice missions for the Mistral and the L variant.
  13. Hello! I bought this module yesterday and it is my first helo like, ever. I think last time I flew a helo in a sim was the Janes Longbow game... Now on landing the Gazelle. I don't know how other helos behave in DCS, but after 1 day practicing, I can land in the pad I want (not the one the Helo wants...) quite consistently. There are several tips that helped me: - First and foremost, just check that you have Force Feedback unticked in case your joystick doesn't have force feedback. My first hour was a nightmare until I read that in one forum post... - Reset your trim just before you land. Since the trim usually is set with a pitch down, you will have a forward component all the time while you try to stabilize the hover. - Don't try to hover above 10 m and then descend. It is crazy hard to do that. I don't know how you land other helos, but the Gazelle doesn't have GE until the last few metres above ground. - Correct just one force at a time. First torque, then forward, and then center the lateral desplacement. With a bit of practice you can do it easy. If you feel like the helo is always going out of hover, check the trim and make sure you reset it (there is a bind for that) Now I'm almost always descend like "in the movies" pitching up and dropping the collective. When you go through the transition, the VS will drop suddenly, apply collective and torque and with a bit of luck (and a lot of practice) you will be hovering at 10 m with almost zero forward speed. Center the helo and don't be afraid to skid a bit on the pad. Landing vertical is almost impossible. On the other hand, having that agility means it is a nervous mount. But I'm having fun, and I don't regret buying the module, even if it is a bit lacking in the single player content, and the manual could be deeper. Have fun!
  14. TEW is a good choice. I like it so much I will probably repeat it sometime in the future. The training campaigns are good as well if you like to work on your procedures. The basic is really hard, but the advanced is not aa difficult for me. Maybe because I already finished the basic, or because the basics are no longer scored and you can land upside down and still end with a Qualified rating if you finished the main task. I will probably get the other campaigns now. I'm loving the A10c to bits. TL.DR buy them all, they are all good!
  15. I finished the campaign yesterday. I played the old 1.5.8 since my computer can't run 2.5. Very good campaign, immersive, fun and with balanced missions. I had no problems with any mission, except in the naval interception, where the F16 crashed before they could be shot down so I never received the lines and I was totally surprised with the chat in the next mission "leave no man behind" The ones that made me sweat where the babysitting one (damned german guy!) and the attack on the compound at the end of a cloudy valley. GBU were not as accurate as I wanted and I switched loadout to full 6X mavericks to finish it. I'm looking forward to get the F15C one soon and any campaign you make. Good stuff. Keep up the good work!
  16. Si, lo van a implementar, lo que no tengo claro es cuando. Pero no obstante ya tengo bastante con los sistemas que han metido ahora...
  17. Just for you to know, I completed this mission yesterday. Everything went fine. Awesome campaign, the only bad thing is that I already played more than half of it. I don't want it to end, really.
  18. Great news! After playing the enemy within your have a faithful buyer here. Keep up the good job!
  19. I recommend you to also play The enemy Within. Currently at mission 6 and enjoying it so far.
  20. I have finished the Basic qualification campaign and I'm currently playing the Enemy Within. All I can say you is that the qualification campaigns (I have also the advanced one and I plan to get the tactical) are NOT tutorials. They are the final exams! So before you get even the basic qualification campaign you will need to be at least proficient in everything that the manual can teach you. My recomendation is as follows: - Read the manual. Do not study it, but read it and mark the important stuff. - Fly around, play some single player missions, do the tutorial missions (you can practice as much as you want with the tutorial missions. No death, no friendly fire, feel free to bomb your own base!) - After 20 or 30 flight hours, READ THE MANUAL AGAIN! Now you will understand most of what it says, and you will learn how to be handle the Hog in a daily basis. - Play a campaign: I recommend you to do at least the basic qualification campaign. It is made of 24 missions (12 test mission and the practice mission, which is the same without the cold start) and it will help you to hone your skills in the basics. Taxiing, landing, cold start, shut down, navigation, formation flight... You won't fire a single shot through the campaign, but you will learn a LOT about the basic procedures and if you are able to complete it means you will have practice enough so landing in any weather or any condition won't be a problem, start up and shut down will become a second nature and you will be able to do things "as per the manual" I still haven't mess up with the inbuilt campaign (georgian hammer) but I expect it to be good as well. Concerning the Red flag ones, I don't own the Nevada map so I can't tell you. All I can tell you is that currently you have plenty of options for DLC content in this module, and so far most of them are good. Specially considering Steam Sales are on the horizon.
  21. I did this mission yesterday in 1.5.8. No problem so far and I got the 100% score. The event that gave me the OK was killing the IGLA soldier near to UZI. I had to make several passes and pour a lot of CM ammo into the forest until I got it. Silly me I wasted most of my ordenance in the first step of the mission and I forgot to tell my wingman to attack. I even got hit by an IGLA and had to made a wheels up landing because I lost the right landing gear. Then repair the plane, taxi to the middle of the strip and got the mission complete message. Fun mission, and good campaign so far. Loving it.
  22. I flown a night mission yesterday in 1.5.8 and flood lights work, both the emergency switch (for startup) and the flood knob in the internal light panel. Could it be a problem with your graphic settings?
  23. I have the Hornet already  but as our forum mate said before me, it still lacks guided weaponry. Once it gets it, with HARMs, SLAMs, mavs and JDAMs, you will be able to finish that mission fast and easy. You will need help from your wingman though, not enough stations onboard!
  24. I did the mission. It is quite fun since you can do the mission the "proper way" just climbing and using standoff missions while flying outside of the SA11 envelope, or you can go "Gun Ho" and have fun with the gun and the close range stuff. My problem is that all I could see was "if I had a Hornet doing this I could do the same in half the time"
  25. I think there was a problem with some models of Mavs in 2.5. I don't know if they already fixed that. If not, I recommend you to first lock the target with the TGP, create a SPI and then slew the mav to SPI. Once it is slewed to the SPI, keep presing TMS up to force lock till you get a proper lock. The lock depends on the range, size of the object and constrast against the background. After that, you can target several objectives with the TGP, create markpoints, and ripple fire mavericks to all markpoints in fast succession. But that is just advanced tactics. First things first. Kepp training the basics.
