  1. Just a plain, bad idea. The DCS crew would be eating peanut butter sandwiches when they really deserve the steak sandwich... and I don't doubt they also have families to feed... DCS World is free... free, mind you... what more could anyone ask for? I'll take a different tack... gentlemen, where is the 'tip jar'? I'll ante up simply in appreciation of the hard, mind boggling work already done...
  2. I've only used a flare gun once... when my sailboat was in distress... okay, twice... used it to start a bon fire....
  3. I had a professor tell me once that the only thing you can be certain about with the English language is that it's constantly changing... read plagiarizing other languages....:music_whistling:
  4. heard the news on the radio and involuntarily yelled aloud "Nooo". Haven't done that since John Lennons murder.... RIP... one to beam up...
  5. thanks cichlidfan / abburo.... the learning continues... :music_whistling:
  6. Mine arrived yesterday and after some 'self inflicted' grief I am mapping and it works just fine! Initially I've mapped for hud armament controls. Translates to cockpit and helios admirably. What I'd love to sort out is mapping f1, f2,etc commands for coms as in take off, land, taxi and airport requests... no joy yet. I've searched for a thread to explain this but coming up empty. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks Picksplitter
  7. well done bit-master.... truly in keeping with this forums' penchant for helping others +1
  8. when the wife says "look, it's either the a10c or me" and you catch yourself writing up a needs list for packing up the pit...
  9. Not that I could find, so I went for 'shinny'! And I will likely swap the toggles for rotaries eventually... just couldn't wait...
  10. right then no intervention and look what's happening! http://www.derekspearedesigns.com/2014-track-boss.html It's on it's way... so are the ram mounts ( another $100 )... Certainly looks sweet and looking forward to it. May Buddah, Mohammed, Christ and John Lennon forgive me, 'cause the wife won't  :megalol:
  11. and for a completely different view... I too have seen the bugs, oh my. There was a time with the a10c where if you went over 320 knots, your left wing disappeared and if you looked down you could see thru the airframe. I said to myself, don't go over 320 knots and don't look down. There was a time when the mavericks were buggy.... I said let's switch to guns... adapt and overcome... fly around the bugs!
  12. Caution... intervention might be warranted... I have seen 'the FLT-1X'. It is a well manufactured item. But, dear lord forgive me as I've also seen this... http://www.derekspearedesigns.com/race-king-r12-led.html in blue, shiny buttons, toggles and knobs. Is there any real reason why I should wait for the 01.01.2015 release of FLT-1? or just go for it now... the intention is to lose the mouse (I do not have a touch screen for my Helios profile) For the creators of this item.... exemplary thought and attention to quality aside... you had me stone cold at 'shiny'. As a Scotsman I must say, considering what can be dropped into a pit.... $240.00 is nothing... Weigh in gentlemen, as I'm ready to 'nod' in payment....
  13. I had the same issues with the learning curve... try this, Jerry Abbot does a fine job 'esplain' things...
  14. you can count me in too..... ooooooh, Buttons.... I lub's my buttons... this might just get rid of the mouse (hurray)
  15. In Canada we just had our 147th. birthday. So here's an early happy B day to my American friends! And you folks do know how to party :) Here's a link to a birthday song from Chris and David Hadfield. A stellar and true portrayal of what it is to be Canadian. Eh?
  16. I take care of Victoria Air Maintenances' fire suppression concerns and got in there today. Here's a few answers to some of the questions above... The aircraft is in Vancouver, in a private collection (as Sithspawn mentioned) and the owner says she'll never fly again. So sad. It's unlikely to be seen again as this collector is very private. 100% original restoration. 2 aircraft tech's, 40+ hours a week for 5 years. $1000.00 an hour for fuel. $5000.00 an hour for insurance. 2 Mosquito's air worthy world wide... one in New Zealand, cobbled together from 3 different airframes, and this one in Vancouver. Knowing this makes me feel fortunate in watching the restoration over these past 5 years. Should have known how sensitive the owner was... they (Vic Air) wouldn't let me take any pics after the 1st. year. But I did get to see her fly! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2095172#post2095172
  17. In my work I am a fire suppression tech, fix and service all things mechanical to fight fire...5 years ago I started taking care of Victoria Air Maintenance and saw this Mosquito being worked on, got to see it @ 3 times a year since then. 2 days ago I was at the airport to see her 1st. after rebuild flight tests. She took off like a banshee, wheels up and the left wheel wouldn't! The aircraft immediately went 'full' dirty, flew one circuit and landed. Walking to lunch today I heard a very singular noise, looked up and there it was, wheels up and going like.... well, a bat out of hell. Enjoy the rebuild pic's and I think I can honestly say, nothing on this planet remotely sounds like the deHavilland Mosquito. Wow... http://www.vicair.net/mosquito.html
  18. 'cause she's darn cute and the ground crew just couldn't say "NO"
  19. I got it :smartass: Personally, I do the dishes, vacuum and :music_whistling: A pessimist will complain about the wind... an optimist hopes the wind will change... a realist re-sets the sails... when ya can't change something, adapt and overcome...
  20. I would suggest going to some 'wreckers yards', wander around and look 'till you see something suitable... then 'barter' and remove! It would be cheap and you can 'test' the seat before removing it. Personally, I went the full Monty and bought a new racing seat... expensive (400.00 usd), yes, but I haven't regretted it for a moment! it can be seen here... http://forums.eagle.ru/album.php?albumid=693&pictureid=5346
  21. I may not be the best guy to answer this, but... when I open helios it asks me what profile to run. I only use one for the A10C, but if I used one for another plane / version /game I'm assuming I'd have to change profiles for the aircraft. Also, if I open DCS and run A10C, without opening helios first, it's just not there... I think you might be doing it right, but I really am a neophyte when it comes to this... ( read unschooled newbe ) Good luck!
  22. right then... caught, hands down. It's ruse to see who is paying attention! Now that the challenge is in, I'll have to come up with the pic... and I will!
  23. Sound advice... I'll say "just do it"! I agonized for 2+ years before I got my Thrustmaster.... after using it for @ 20 minutes I had to wonder what my agonizing was all about! You will not regret it in the long run...
