  1. Sorry to revive this thread but is anyone having issues with this for DCS 1.5 or 2.0? I can't get the cargo to register with a trigger zone. I have no problems with normal units.
  2. I was curious, has anyone made a more detailed and accurate oil platform to complement dcs 1.5/2.0? It would be great to practice approaches onto an oil rig with some more detail. Just curious before I decide to try modeling one myself.
  3. I hope this will also apply to the AI for the campaign as it seems to like to pull max power all the time and makes it very difficult to stay in formation with. If not, this will make it impossible to keep up with the AI.
  4. Question: Many including myself find it fun and gratifying to fly with a player as your wingman, but also enjoy the immersion and story telling of campaigns. So much so that many have converted campaigns to co-op missions. Will there be better integration of co-op campaigning in DCS 2.0? Thanks Wags
  5. As long as it's a tail dragger I'm all for it. What about a J-3 cub or the Cessna 0-1? Both had military purpose and are great trainers.
  6. Is there a view setting that properly sets the lighting so that I can see the aircraft with textures? I have tried adjusting the sun all the way and it has no effect. See below for what I see when I load A-10.edm Update: Looks like a figured it out. You have to add liveries folder and place a livery inside. Then in the liveries dialog you load it. Although now the cockpit is still black.

  8. Happy new year Sabre and everyone else! I am on my last mission (low level flying) and need a little bit of help. Basically you are told to fly a trailing close formation which I do. On occasion I am told by my wingman that I am too close or too far. I'm sure this is because of a limitation within the DCS engine but my wingman goes full throttle and full airbrake in a few points during the flight which make it impossible to keep constant distance from him. Also why does he slow down to 130 kts? I end up having to put my landing flaps down to be at a comfortable attitude. Then without warning he accelerates to 250 knots. This happens a couple of times during the flight. This is not good formation practice for the lead. Very dangerous to be doing these kind of things. I recommend modifying this mission so that the speed changes are more reasonable and the wingman informs you when he throttles up or slows down. Something like slowing to 130kts with full brake in 3-2-1. Also for some odd reason he keeps telling you to hurry up which makes no sense to me since you are following him so its really up to him to get you to the waypoint on time. Am I wrong? I ended up failing the first checkpoint time saying I got there too early but I was behind my wingman at the appropriate spacing. So basically it's my wingman's fault but he blames me. Also I failed the flight because I was told that I was above the max altitude which doesn't make sense because I was directly behind the wingman at his altitude, am I supposed to fly below him. Does he inform you of the max altitude limit? HELP =/ Thanks again.
  9. Thanks for the details! I was not aware of the practice missions!
  10. Thanks, right now it is unpassable for me. I keep getting the issue on the second approach where I am told to hold pattern altitude and at the same time told that I am above glidepath. I try to follow the glidepath down and then I am failed. I have 2 tracks I can provide. Is there a way to bypass the campaign to go to the next mission? I really don't want to fly this one again and know that I am proficient... UPDATE: okay, figured it out. in the logbook.lua file just set the completion to 75% and add an entry for the next mission. Done. NO MORE. haha.
  11. I'm having a similar issue with BFT09. I'm told to fly heading 300, which with wind drift causes me to go off the ground track, when I try to correct I am yelled at to stay at 300. I then miss the trigger that tells me to go to the next waypoint, I try to turn and I am failed. This is very frustrating. 6th time I try this mission and it takes so long. I wish I can save =(. Either increase the trigger zone or allow more heading adjustment range so that I can correct for wind drift. UPDATE: Also... please please please get the wingman out of the way. He crashed into me on approach. He follows a very tight formation and caused me to fail my mission again =(. This an IFR mission, he should not be flying a tight formation approach with me... UPDATE2: tried again, failed now because I was told on the 2nd landing to stay at pattern altitude while I captured the glideslope . I started following the glideslope down and I was terminated again...Please please make this mission more robust I beg you =/. I have a track if you need it.
  12. I've confirmed this is just some of the great modeling the ED has done. The hydraulic system for the gear has been modeled with its limitations in power for retraction. You cannot retract the gear as you pull up into a climb with the su-27. The main gear retraction servos are not that strong. You need to retract the gear in level flight, wait until the gear lights extinguish to confirm up positive indication, then you can pull into the climb. You can also leave the gear extended, set the pitch attitude for the climb, hold it there, and retract gear. Try this, retract the gear in outside view while in level flight (1G) and then while the gear is half retracting pull positive G. You will see the main wheels will have trouble, then regain 1G load and watch as they continue to retract. If anything maybe the strength for the actuator needs to be refined if this in fact does not occur in the real aircraft.
  13. sure, just start in a dive first =) then the altitude you gain puts you back at the altitude you started hah. In all seriousness though Thumper is right. When you perform the cobra you increase angle of attack, increasing lift until you stall the wing. You can reduce the altitude gain by pulling sharply on the stick and getting into stall quicker. Be careful though because that means more G!
  14. When you conduct the cobra maneuver when do you re-enable to stability system? When I first started trying to perform the maneuver I started getting into the dreaded inverted flat spins. I later found that the stability system is a toggle switch, not a push (on) and release (off). Therefore I would push and hold the CAS button thinking that when I released it I would have CAS renabled. In reality though I was just disabling and not re-enabling. When I would push the nose back down to recover the aircraft would overshoot level attitude and enter into a high magnitude negative AoA condition, inducing the inverted spin. Once I learned that you had to hit the button again to enable CAS I had no more issues. All I did was get to about 300-350 kph in trim level flight, disable the CAS, then pull back all the way to perform the maneuver, then as I reach max pitch attitude I re-enabled the CAS and pushed the stick forward all while adding power to regain airspeed. It seems to work very reliably. Not sure if this is how it is performed in real life but it works darn well.
  15. The more horsepower an engine produces the higher the turbine temperature. Therefore raising the rpm and setting the engine to the torque limit will be hotter than the lower rpm at the torque limit. Unfortunately most of the time on the current huey model you can't get to the torque limit without overtemping the engine. Fortunately enough engine damage due to overtemp is not modeled yet. Fry away!
  16. Setting the DCS built in FPS limiter to 75 via C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\graphics.lua maxfps = 75; added another undesirable effect. The snappy cockpit effect. Can someone here take a look at their file and tell me what the default is for this? It was set to 120 before and it may be causing a conflict with dxtory causing the curtain effect that I am currently experiencing. Hands down though the best experience setup has been low graphics, vsync off, no hdr, and using dxtory at 75 fps. Almost to perfection.
  17. Just tried it, no perceivable improvement or change in DCS. First tried lowest graphics, fps above 75. Still get the judders. Then turned on my fps limiter (dxtory), smooooooth but has the curtain effect on one eye as before. Removed the fps limiter and turned on vsync. Smooooooth but lots of latency. Will make you sick very fast.
  18. Just wanted to share my lessons learned with you guys. I've been having stuttering issues with DK2 and DCS. I stumbled upon an article for dk2 where guys were recommending using Dxtory. It is a program that I believe is for image and video capture but it has a great FPS limiter. Before this I was trying to use Nvidia inspector with no luck. Dxtory works very well and makes the DCS cockpits almost as smooth as the oculus utility demo. Just download it and set the fps under the CPU tab to 75. Enjoy! Just the note though, I still have a distinct vertical jutter only on one eye. Not sure what causes it.
  19. I don't think it needs to if time warp is working properly but I don't think dcs has it functioning yet. Lets hope edge has that in place.
  20. Thanks! Did you notice a difference with setting rift as primary? Is your monitor also running at 75 hz? It seems if you set your monitor to 75 hz it works as if you have rift as primary without having to do so, although then you dont have clickable functions.
