  1. Cheers mate I thought as much, neat idea if it worked.
  2. Has anyone come across this NIC card? It claims to offload Network related processes from the CPU / OS on the the cards own CPU and thus reduce lag and latency to produce better FPS.
  3. A modified lynx managed to clock 249.1 mph (400.87 kph). :)
  4. Lynx, fastest chopper ever!!
  5. May I add my congratulations to RvE.
  6. It helps if you have a stiff drink first. Get lined up right and learn to intercept the glide slope at the right altitude and speed. Trust your instruments and the HUD. Use small thrust corrections. Don't focus on the deck. keep slightly high and flat only at 1km increase to 5 degrees nose up. Landing on deck at 270 - 280. Hit the afterburner when over the cables. Then brake, if bolter keep thrust at full miltary and climb away. Don't allow yourself to sink under the glide slope especially in the final few seconds. Don't force a landing, better to go around and line up again. As everyone else has said practice is the only way. Soon you'll do it in your sleep.:)
  7. FC is far from dead. Interest in online squads continues as does interest in the various community exercises. Whilst I'm interested in BS, I'm not stopping flying my Su33 / Su 25T any time soon.
  8. Looks like they were playing Halo when they designed this.:megalol:
  9. Great Images. Thanks for sharing them.
  10. Thats very impressive. However is this true for BS??
  11. Its my understanding that RWR is not considered necessary since a chopper flies at very low level and quite slowly. Most A/A radars would have problems with ground clutter. As has been said the biggest threat to the Ka 50 are IR missiles which RWR can't detect anyway. The Laser emitter detection system sound interesting. Will be good to see what evasion tactics will be recommended for Stingers etc.
  12. Note to mods. This thread surely belongs in the Military and Aviation section and not chit chat?? The Vulcan is an Aircraft is it not.
  13. She just stunning. I remember seeing the Vulcan flying low level in the Highlands of Scotland as a kid during the 70's and early 80s. Brings a lump to the throat seeing a Vulcan back in the sky where she belongs.
  14. Good to see a fresh start with DCS BS. I wish to new series all the best. I hope that I can get a chance to play with it soon. :)
  15. Check out the Saitek Forums. I've seen mention of this problem before (the pedals jamming, not lockon ghosts). http://www.saitekforum.com/index.php The support team are pretty good and they should respond to any message you post there. I had a dodgy cable that connected the Throttle to the Joystick and they sent me a replacement free. Update: I checked their forum, it seems to be a common problem. You should contact them at techsupport@saitek.com. They have a fix for it and are changing the design to prevent it happening.
  16. F22A is very impressive and certainly the US should be proud of it. However the display was too clinical and its a pity its not really thrown about a bit more. They should have got the guy that does the Movie trailer narration to do the commentary, because it was so Hollywood!! I miss the old days when they used to very low passes over the crowd from behind with full reheat. Those were the days.
  17. I agree that there seems to be an increase in interest in LOMAC, the one thing that helps this is the general feeling that everyone is welcome to join in. I've was very reluctant to join a squad or go online for ages because I had some bad experience in another gaming community. Since taking part online and joining the 159th I've been made to feel very welcome and most have shown great willingness to help out with technical issues and flying skills. My view is that if you make this experience accessible to the non hardcore fightsim junkies, you see more and more people getting involved. Being open and non exclusive is vital to keep this community alive. The noob is just as valuable as the veteran, we were all noobs once. :) Also I think we need to get the word out there in the PC / Internet press that the flight/combat scene is as vibrant and exciting as FPS and RTS. Thanks to all that spend hours and hours to come up with mods, skins, admin servers, moderate boards, run squads and turn up on HL etc.
  18. Excellent:thumbup::lol:
  19. I think a bit of flexibility could be exercised here
  20. I'd doesn't matter if it can fly, it a masterpiece of engineering. I wish I had that skill, dedication and money to do something like this.:clap_2:
  21. I'd like to carrier landings be more realistic. Rolling deck and proper talkdown etc.
  22. Like the screenshot. Looks good, can wait to try it out.
  23. F 111's Rock:thumbup: I used to see them all the time flying low level of the coast of Western Scotland during the 70's / 80s. Amazing ACs
  24. I'm sure that if the occasion arose the RAF would rise to the occasion. Anyway back to the main point. As an aviation enthusiast its great to see the Bear in the sky again. Also it helps counter recent criticism in the UK press about the need for the Typhoon. I just wish the UK gov would also see the need to bolster the RAF.
  25. You are correct if the targets are on the mainland, however if they choose to target shipping in the North Sea or in the Artic, F3 and Typhoons would struggle to engage. However this is all academic as I don't believe that Russia has any hostile intentions, they are just showing that they can still fly long range missions which is pretty amazing considering the lack of investment in their military.
