Have you downloaded the latest video drivers? Are you running in SLI mode? What OS are you running (32/64, service packs, etc)?

DCS: Black Shark - Q&A **READ FIRST!**
LazerPotatoe replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
1) Is it possible with triggers to have enemy choppers or enemy FARPs call for help from fast-movers? 2) Are there AI-controlled Harriers in game? Can they land at FARPs or non-airfield locations? Thanks, -

DCS: Black Shark - Q&A **READ FIRST!**
LazerPotatoe replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Are there ever occasions when ground vehicles will pop smoke and take evasive action? If so, when does this happen? Thanks, -
[developer speak] I wonder if they have 2 code paths in source control, and have been checking in the Blackshark changes into both paths all along... Or maybe both engines are modular enough via interfaces, to simply plug-in the helicopter code into the new engine (unlikely). [/developer speak] Not that I really know what I'm talking about, but I don't think they would have to totally re-code the chopper portion in the new engine.

What about troop insertions and SAR? These are also better suited to helicopters than plane, and are part of modern warfare.

Welcome SunDown. Thanks for the wise words.

Yeah, that's true -- Lockon only had a few, large updates. I wonder if this will change for DCS. And certainly I would want the option to _not_ auto-update, or to download but not install. (similar options as Windows Updates)

I see in the FAQ that new aircraft will be released approximately every 9 months after BlackShark. But there is nothing in the FAQ about subscriptions or automatic updating. I would also like to know if ED have considered this. Regards,

Black Shark deep penetration mission?
LazerPotatoe replied to Flyby's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Say that you had to do an emergency startup of the KA-50, and had to navigate to a distant FARP, in the early morning darkness, with no external lights. What parts of the startup could be skipped, and how would you navigate to the FARP? Let's pretend that none of the waypoints or INU points were previously programmed. I assume you could start the ABRIS while you are flying and use the map to find the FARP? Would the ABRIS contain the cities in the area, so that you could avoid overflying them once you crossed into enemy territory? Do FARPs have radio beacons? -
I believe it will show as a joystick. So you just map the axis and buttons inside Lockon/Blackshark. Also check out the A-PAC controller from Ultimarc, and my SIM Panel tutorial (in my sig): The Ultimarc A-PAC page Cheers,

Alternative for Tripple-Head-2-Go?
LazerPotatoe replied to Feuerfalke's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, thanks Fred. It can be a less-powerful card. Your main video card does all the processing and most of the rendering. I figure that if you can afford 3 monitors, and you're looking at buying a triple-head gadget, then you can afford a $50 video card. Regards, -
Alternative for Tripple-Head-2-Go?
LazerPotatoe replied to Feuerfalke's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Your link to the UV Plus+ product doesn't mention if it will work with games/directX/OpenGL. As fred99 mentioned, Software Triplehead by Kegetys is probably the way to go. The software is free, all you need is a spare video card. http://www.kegetys.net/SoftTH/ Cheers -
Fully dynamic campaign for Blackshark? Is it possible?
LazerPotatoe replied to a topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
From the FAQ: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=718&scr=default〈=en I too would like a fully dynamic campaign, but I think what they have planned will be much more interesting that the scripted missions that we have in Lockon. Cheers, -
Happy Birthday

I think both of the download links are bad (albeit, this message board doesn't make it easy). Try these: http://www.silentsharksnavy.com/airwing/downloads.php?cat_id=2 http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=20&file=834&lang=en
