  1. Nice work. You're a machine :)
  2. Note that if you're using a dedicated server, it must have them installed as well.
  3. Excellent work mate, really happy that you've got the lights working. As you've suggested though, get rid of the green x. This guy should be located primarily via a homing beacon and the lights are are within visual range thing only. Now, for the really nitty gritty fine tuning part :) any chance of creating a low lod version without a light and have this version with the light cut in at say 1km?
  4. Here's a mounted DShK Here's a model to replace the awful water towers already in DCS
  5. Oh dear, you've opened the flood gates :) The 727 and 737 would be great as statics This TOW tripod would be great to add to the Allied forces, I think I know how to arm it too And this technical would be fantastic As weird as it may sound, I'd love to see a tractor in the fields!
  6. Thanks again Ranger, great work and I'll take a look at the textures later myself.
  7. Excellent, excellent mission. I'd dearly love to get my hands on those other objects of yours, but we had some great fun flying this tonight. I just don't know how I missed it for so long!
  8. Looks good, thanks for your effort
  9. Appologies, fixed, you no longer need permission. Tornado Skin by Agg1
  10. I've re-worked this mod recently (December 31st) in an attempt to tempt fate that the Nevada map will be released with EDGE ;) The update is (622MB), and has been reworked after learning a thing or two more about the texture layering system in DCS working with T. Jacob's excellent seasonal noise textures. Here are some shots of the new Desert which has a new base layer texture to prevent seems, removes the slight green tinge, and adds a little detail at higher altitudes. You'll also note that it's a lot sparser with no field textures, and reduced and re-worked border textures for them compared to the shots further down of version 2. North of Maykop South of Kobuleti Senaki Sukhumi Credit goes to Barthek for the mountain texture that is included with this pack also. Download here -> 229th Complete Desert Terrain Mod 3.0 Original version 2 post This may sound a little odd to just paint the existing map in a desert texture as most of us have been flying over Georgia for the best part of 10 years now, but after a couple of hours flying around over the new textures, you can see yourself over Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, whereveristan you can imagine... Like Stratos' mod, the aim is to replace a seasons textures in the current DCS environment, with a complete makeover of a Desert textured terrain and camouflage set for all vehicles included with DCS World as of 1.2.8. There is now only a single package available to make the process easier and it simply installs via JSGME. Due to the way that the vehicles are textured, some vehicles are only replaced with Desert Camo in Autumn, some in Summer and Autumn, and some all year around. This is because of a limitation with some of the older models in DCS. If you wish to fly in another season or with another texture mod, I recommend that you enable / disable the mod as and when you need them it JSGME as this mod will overwrite some textures that will show up in other seasons and look like Desert in the Winter! Beczl's vehicle pack is included and modifies some database files within DCS World that do change from time to time. I will update this specific pack as newer versions of DCS World are released, so please note that if you have problems with DCS starting after applying this pack, check back to this message for updates for the version of DCS that you're running. Lastly, I use Google Drive to host the packages. If it opens up with a window like this when you click a download link; simply click on 'File' in the top left and select 'Download' to download the original Zip file Packages Here is the new version! DCS Desert Complete conversion mod v2 Common Questions; Q: Are there other countries added such as Iran, Syria, Iraq? A: No, I did consider this, but after some testing it proved to create more issues that it was worth for mission builders, compatibility and multi-player. Q: Why not create a new theater rather just repaint Georgia? A: Creating a whole new terrain model is simply out of my capabilities. Q: Why are Desert camo vehicles showing up in Winter? A: This is a limitation with some of the models in DCS and the way that they are skinned. Remove the mod in JSGME to return to the stock skins. Q: Why not include Beczl's vehicles in the complete mod? A: As they modify some DCS DB files, I felt that it would be easier to update this package as a standalone later and save on bandwidth requirements for any changes required. Q: How do I install this mod? A: You need to setup JSGME first, then unzip the download packages directly to your JSGME Mods folder and enable them in JSGME. Q: I'm confused, which ones should I install? A: Just install Version 3 now Q: I also use XYZ other terrain mod, can I use this for Autumn and that for other seasons? A: No. JSGME is your friend... This mod should be used as a stand alone and other terrain mods should be disabled when using this, and this should be disabled when you wish to use XYZ terrain mod. Even just the Desert Terrain mod alone modifies textures for the FARPs, Bunkers and other buildings that would stand out in other terrain mods. Q: I'm getting poor FPS since using this mod. A: Try the texture downgrade pack from version 1 Q: DCS 1.2.14.xxxx has just been released, will this mod still work? A: It should. There are not likely to be any changes to the way that the ground textures work in DCS in the Georgian region, even when EDGE is release, therefore it should work. I and the 229th guys use this mod all of the time, and we'll notice pretty quickly if it breaks and I'll address that with a new version here. Despite all the hunting around for this or that vehicle or texture that kept me up to the early hours many a night, I actually had quite a bit of fun creating this and it taught me a lot about using GIMP. I hope you have as much fun flying over it as I did creating it, but this now represents the final and complete work for this mod short of any issues found by the community that I may have overlooked and that require patching. Please feel free to download without having to worry about a new version next week chewing up your bandwidth!
  11. Nice job, I like it :) The project to re-paint all of the vehicles is still under way. All of Beczl's vehicles are done, all Russian vehicles are done and the Allied vehicles are underway.
  12. Welcome back! Great news and I'm looking forward to it.
  13. Look up my mods (too many to list here), all of them are JSGME just search for threads started by myself
  14. Just install this JSGME version of the original pack if you want green... Download
  15. That one is simple, just don't install the desert vehicle packs I post...
  16. Only the custom vehicle pack for now, I haven't actually flown over this terrain myself yet, only viewed it with AI, so I'm going to post this pack up tomorrow and get some stick time in before looking at any stock vehicle repaints.
  17. To go with the Desert Terrain, I've started re-skinning Beczl's excellent Vehicle add on pack. I hope to have it ready for download over the weekend!
  18. Yes, plus I've changed the fields to those on page 8 and straightened out a few trees that were not aligned correctly Here is Version 2 for any Desert virgins out there: Download
  19. Version 1 -> Version 2 patch Install this over the existing files in the Mod folder in JSGME. The folder structure is identical, so just extract it to the main JSGME folder and you should get prompted to overwrite the existing files. Full version 2
  20. There is a low altitude noise file. If you can get me that first texture file (not a screen shot of it) I'll look at incorporating it. Also, further updates to the fields so in general there are less of them... I tried and tried to get the circular irrigation fields in, but the size and shape of the fields in DCS is just too irregular to get them to work. I've also aligned a few of the trees that were not quite right. The fields you are seeing in these shots are from satellite imagery from about 100km South of Riyadh
  21. Problem is that this sand texture is already at 4096 x 4096 and the only way to make it sharper is to either increase the repetition which leads to tiling at higher altitudes or to increase the texture size to 8192 x 8192 and then you hit compatibility issues with older generation graphics cards....
  22. Feel free to change them yourself. The trees do of course have some artistic license, they're the best images of the type of trees that I was looking for, and there are actually 2 species of Palm that you will see in the mod that are only native to California if you want to get specific. If you can find unlicensed, free to use, high resolution images of native trees from Afghanistan, Syria, Israel, Iran, Iraq or any other Middle Eastern Nation that we're imitating here, let me know and I'll happily update it, for free. The primary file you need to modify for the trees is r_for.tga.dds but there are about 20 more files to change the trees in villages, tree lines along fields, cities and airfields if you feel like doing it yourself.
  23. Correct. This only modifies your textures that you see personally. It doesn't affect the units in the game, it doesn't change anything about a mission, and it doesn't need to be installed on a server to work. The only reason that anybody else other than you needs to install this mod is so that when they look out of their canopy, they see the same awesome view as you :) And yes, the trees are fixed
  24. Here it is! Stratos will update the first post soon. This terrain mod will replace the default Autumn terrain. Install using JSGME for best results! Download
