  1. I only used heave, sway, and surge axes. I don't use pitch, roll, or yaw. Heave and surge are mapped to the bottom and back, respectively, and the sway is mixed into both the bottom and the back together. I don't notice any lateral forces during piros, but it may be just a matter of sensitivity, because the sway is pretty apparent while taxiing or during uncoordinated flight.
  2. There's a dozen posts from VR users saying "settings don't make a difference on frame rate", but the general response is "that's the way it is". I've given up on trying to tweak it for consistently good FPS, so I just put it on medium/high and enjoy it the way it is. :joystick:
  3. "The horse carriage guys moved into a new field - automobiles" :pilotfly:
  4. Because a level D Sim might be the only thing better than VR.
  5. ^ I did something similar with a MSFFB2 and a Saitek X52. FFB + HOTAS is definately the way to go. Talk about getting your cake and eating it too!
  6. If the VR performance gains are what they say they are, I'd be very tempted to upgrade my 970.
  7. Um... any increase in N1 is accompanied with more thrust.
  8. After a month of CV1 and over four months of Gear VR, I'm still not jaded on VR. It might not have the same OMG wow factor as it did at first, but I still haven't gone back to the monitor at all. I've gotten pretty close to going back just to help learn the Gazelle and familiarize myself with the cockpit, but I can't bring myself to do it.
  9. Helicopters are a blast in VR! My flying has improved a dozen times over; hovering and spot landings are much easier, and the whole sense of immersion is fantastic.
  10. I have an X52, but have the same problem with poor pots. I found its best to just assign them to key presses using bands. For example: 0-33% - some key 34-65% - neutral 66-100% - another key
  11. Awesome! I did a report on him in grade school after being inspired by all the "Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Simulator" I was playing. :joystick:
  12. The SFM damage model is pretty funny sometimes. Yesterday I fought an AI Fw-190, blew off an entire half of the horizontal stab, an aileron, and he was pouring out smoke, but carrying on like nothing happened.
  13. Looking really good!
  14. I like sideways flight while attacking and funnels. I always use FD mode when doing maneuvering flight, you get some dampening without having to fight the AP.
  15. At this point, I'm sure it's just placebo effect, but I really think it helped! I didn't see any major difference in frame rate, but it does feel smoother. Or at least I think it does.... But isn't that what really matters? :D BigDuke, what computer system did NASA let you borrow?! If I want to even think about seeing 90fps in the rift, max settings across the board aren't an option. Granted even 45 looks pretty good with ATW, and even 30 looks great if I'm putting about looking at the flowers. Unfortunately, 45 isn't quite so nice if I'm maneuvering hard in a dogfight; the ghosting is very distracting.
  16. @RUS38 Relax a little, it's supported in a beta and alpha version of DCS, which means it's WIP. It's also the reason we're here discussing it, to figure out what's up and how to go about fixing it. The performance issues are not insurmountable, and I'm sure we'll have liquid smooth frames before half the people out there even get their HMD's delivered.
  17. Specifically, the mav's motor burns the tires.
  18. I can't play 2.0.2 yet, I get severe lag/stutters. I can look around the cockpit quite nicely, but the outside world is broken. It looks like a reported bug, so I'll just have to hang out and wait for a fix.
  19. That's the way I'm thinking, I at least need something to grab onto so I can pull myself around to look behind me easier.
  20. Sure it is. if(reality < virtual){ reality = virtual; } Done. :D
  21. One thing about that frame counter again; shadows have the biggest impact on frame rate, but the contribution to frame time is usually less than 0.5ms. I don't know what's going on there, there's gotta be some background issue.
  22. Vicx, that makes perfect sense. I noticed that the detailed in-game fps counter shows the time spent on various elements, and if it wasn't going to make it's 11ms window, it'd drop to 22ms. The confusing part was that sometimes the sum of all displayed tasks would be under 10ms, yet it wouldn't make the 11ms window. I guess there's some more stuff going on back there that doesn't get shown in the detailed counter. It seems there's not much to do about it on the user end. We have to wait for ED to figure out what's causing the high-latency in these latest builds, because there's nothing that can be done to fix it with in-game options.
  23. You can right click the speaker icon on the task bar notificiation area, playback devices, right click the rift and then set default.
  24. OMG, these comments. Has anyone *ever* played any other flight sim? It's a pretty standard business model that you get a free, standard, ugly base map, and there's optional scenery you can buy. And guess what? It's never $15, it's usually about 4x that. This is a bargain, I'm definately buying first day.
  25. Then why the low CPU/GPU utilization?
